  1. Hi, I have a home in the western burbs and a small condo in the city. Each has an ISY, both running beta 5.0.2, both have access to the portal. I have an Echo and an echo dot at the house and I have Alexa working fairly well. I bought an echo dot for the condo. It took me hours to finally get things working but I have them working separately at both locations. What I have found is that you need at a minimum a primary amazon account and then create a secondary account on the original prime account using a different email address and password to log into amazon (You must deregister the new echo from the primary account and then set it up on your secondary amazon account). I then created a separate user on the portal under my main account and then linked the condo isy to the email address I used for the second amazon account on the portal. The trick I've found is in the profile it will come up and tell you that there is no isy listed in the sub account. You have to click on the link that sends you to amazon to login to the portal using your amazon account (which is the second one I setup). This was the hardest part to get to. There were times when the "link" just was not there for me to click to get to the amazon authentication link from the portal pages (remember to use the amazon secondary account email address and password). Once I finally was able to get the condo ISY registered as the primary ISY under the second user id, I was then able to get it working. Very confusing but it can be done. One other thing to note, you must remember to "switch accounts" on your second echo so you can control the isy at the second location and discover the devices or you'll be rediscovering the devices from the original location. I worked on this so long my explanation may be a bit off but just confirming it does indeed work with 1 amazon prime account and a sub account. Lastly I am on the version 2 of the isy skill in the Alexa app. Hope this helps anyone struggling with this.
  2. Hi Guys, Just been so busy lately haven't had a chance to follow the threads. I did get the event ghost working with some assistance. I have not gotten to clean up where the initial errors occur when it starts but it does not seem to affect the operation. Posted below is the file you need to put in the event plugin module.. eventghostforisy.zip
  3. If you can push the set button on the garage io linc and the door goes up and down its probably safe to say you wired that portion of the kit correctly.. Not sure why it would not communicate unless its not getting the signal back to the isy.. If you have an extra switch maybe try linking it manually with the iolinc to see what happens...
  4. I know there's a few others who were using Eventghost. As you saw Michel posted some changes that needed to be replaced in the isyevent file that you have to use with EG. Have any of you tried to get this working? I've tried doing a full cut and paste of the area that he has changed and the program really blows up and I can only guess its got something to do with CR/LF or a tabbing issue with the editor I am using. So I opened up the original file and have gone through line by line doing a cut in paste where necessary and it still does not seem to be working for me. It doesn't blow up like it did when I cut and paste the entire section that Michel posted before but it does close down the connection with this error. 17:41:34 File "C:\Program Files (x86)\EventGhost\plugins\ISY\__init__.py", line 432, in GetNodesConfig 17:41:34 if (xadd not in eg.globals.excludedinsteondevices): 17:41:34 AttributeError: 'Bunch' object has no attribute 'excludedinsteondevices' 17:41:34 Insteon.Authenticated '192.168.1.253:80' 17:41:34 Insteon.Set Log Level to 1 '192.168.1.253:80' 17:41:34 Main.OnInit 17:41:44 Insteon.Subscription-Closed '192.168.1.253:80' I've spent hours just trying to make this work and have become obsessed with making this work again.. Anyone else figured this out. I'll post what I have edited in case some of you don't have it... __init__.zip
  5. Hi Michel, Ok I tried doing a cut and paste into the file and all sorts of issues trying it that way so I went through the original and the parts you posted. I think you had only changed one line self.push("POST /services HTTP/1.1\r\n") Can you confirm that as true.. I was able to just edit the file and make that one change. When it runs I can see it open up the dialog for a split second and then it closes the connection. The eventghost comes up with the following (Note the first three Lines are the error lines): 20:47:55 File "C:\Program Files (x86)\EventGhost\plugins\ISY\__init__.py", line 436, in GetNodesConfig 20:47:55 if (xadd not in eg.globals.excludedinsteondevices): 20:47:55 AttributeError: 'Bunch' object has no attribute 'excludedinsteondevices' 20:47:55 Insteon.Authenticated '192.168.1.253:80' 20:47:55 Insteon.Set Log Level to 1 '192.168.1.253:80' 20:47:55 Main.OnInit 20:47:55 Insteon.Subscription-Closed '192.168.1.253:80' Just an fyi I do not have the networking module. I'm gonna play with this a little more and look at this globabls.exclude line. Maybe something needs to be added there.. Let me know if you have any more clues. Thanks!
  6. Thanks Michel, I will try and check this out today or tomorrow. Hopefully it solves the problem and also fixes the other guys that have reported an issue.
  7. Hi Michel, I opened up the ISYEvent.zip file and its kinda like a configuration file and some call outs to the ISY. You guys may have more luck than me at figuring out how to fix it. ISYevent.zip
  8. I was beginning to mess around with the eventghost and can confirm it works with 3.3.10 and not the latest beta
  9. You forgot to mention whether you have advised all those living with you and guests about the limitations of that outlet and that you intend to remove the dimmer switch when you sell the house. My sisters house has an outlet controlled by a dimmer. It was this way when she bought it. I assume that it was installed by someone like you (and me)...someone who understood electrical systems and to not plug vacuum cleaners into such an outlet. Unfortunately, they did not remove it when they sold the house and now my sister must live with the additioinal risk, being unaware that this risk was there (until I told her). Not to worry its behind the bed and since I'm usually the only one that runs the vacuum anyway I would know better besides if I should decide to move I'm taking all my insteon devices and the ISY with me! I've been into a lot of homes were customers are trying to use the CFL bulbs that aren't supposed to dim in dimmers. Haven't seen any fires yet from it but a lot of bad dimmers.. I was able to get this program to work after Lee's suggestion about the direct non scene command. I did however get bit by the "wait" statement re-evaluating the "If" statement so I made a second program to actually call the dim up part of the original program..
  10. Hi Lee, I'll see about removing the scene and then try a direct command to make them dim. I am aware its a code violation but since I am an electrician I know better than to plug an electric blanket or a vacuum into it Some of my customers though aren't so smart, haha.
  11. I wrote a program that would brighten my bedroom table lamps early in the morning to get me up. I had been using a plug in dimming module and I also have a Keypad that would turn the lights on and off manually. Well I needed a new circuit this weekend because the Iron was tripping the circuit in the morning. I decided that while I had the devices all open I would eliminate the plug in module and just run a switchleg wire directly from my table lamp outlet to the Load wire on the KeyPad (Previously was not using its load wire). While it works at the keypad On/Off and also dimming, the program part no longer works. I changed the devices around in the program but now it seems to be "Writing" commands to the keypad when the program activates and not turning on the lights. Before I was dimming at the module, now I can't seem to figure out how to get the keypad to do the proper dimming. I tried the program a few different ways, adjusting the scene etc... but the lights just don't come up. Here's a copy of what I have right now. Any clues to help me figure this one out. If On Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri Time is 5:35:00AM And Status 'Bedroom.1-Table Lamps' is not On Then In Scene 'Bedroom.1' Set 'Bedroom.1-Table Lamps' 10% (On Level) Wait 10 seconds In Scene 'Bedroom.1' Set 'Bedroom.1-Table Lamps' 15% (On Level) Wait 10 seconds In Scene 'Bedroom.1' Set 'Bedroom.1-Table Lamps' 20% (On Level) Wait 10 seconds In Scene 'Bedroom.1' Set 'Bedroom.1-Table Lamps' 25% (On Level) Wait 10 seconds In Scene 'Bedroom.1' Set 'Bedroom.1-Table Lamps' 30% (On Level) Wait 10 seconds In Scene 'Bedroom.1' Set 'Bedroom.1-Table Lamps' 35% (On Level) Wait 10 seconds In Scene 'Bedroom.1' Set 'Bedroom.1-Table Lamps' 40% (On Level) Wait 10 seconds In Scene 'Bedroom.1' Set 'Bedroom.1-Table Lamps' 45% (On Level) Wait 10 seconds In Scene 'Bedroom.1' Set 'Bedroom.1-Table Lamps' 50% (On Level) Wait 10 seconds In Scene 'Bedroom.1' Set 'Bedroom.1-Table Lamps' 55% (On Level) Wait 10 seconds In Scene 'Bedroom.1' Set 'Bedroom.1-Table Lamps' 60% (On Level) Wait 10 seconds In Scene 'Bedroom.1' Set 'Bedroom.1-Table Lamps' 65% (On Level) Wait 10 seconds In Scene 'Bedroom.1' Set 'Bedroom.1-Table Lamps' 70% (On Level) Wait 10 seconds In Scene 'Bedroom.1' Set 'Bedroom.1-Table Lamps' 75% (On Level) Wait 10 seconds In Scene 'Bedroom.1' Set 'Bedroom.1-Table Lamps' 80% (On Level) Wait 10 seconds In Scene 'Bedroom.1' Set 'Bedroom.1-Table Lamps' 85% (On Level) Wait 10 seconds In Scene 'Bedroom.1' Set 'Bedroom.1-Table Lamps' 90% (On Level) Wait 10 seconds In Scene 'Bedroom.1' Set 'Bedroom.1-Table Lamps' 95% (On Level) Wait 10 seconds Set Scene 'Bedroom.1' On Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action')
  12. Thanks Lee, I hadnt discovered that event viewer and some of the other clues will help. I think I was clicking them fast enough for a fast on to activate but I'll go back and modify the program and see what I come up with.
  13. Hello, I'm new to the board and the insteon devices, but not new to the technology, or basic programming. I've played with the x10 stuff off and on for a long time, nice to find something more reliable. I am also an electrician so if someone should have an electrical question just give me a hollar. Now onto my queston, I just received my 994 the other day and what I am trying to do is create a timer like program for my switches. A regular click would turn on the lights and start the timer, and a double click (fast on) would allow me to override the timer and keep the lights on. My issue is whenever I try to test for the fast on key presses it just does not seem to recognize it in the programming. Most of the switches I have are the dimmers, with a few 8 pos keypads and also a few non dimming switch modules.. I've kinda managed a work around by testing for an "ON" condition Here's my example: If Status 'DINING ROOM' is On Then - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') Else Wait 10 minutes Set Scene 'Scene 4' Off The other oddity with this is when it does count down and shuts off the scene it looks like it very quickly loops back around and the program runs for an extra 10 minutes. Not sure if this is a bug or I am just missing something silly.. Any help or insight would be great..
