You mean the Network port and the Port A (PLM)? No, I haven't mixed those up.
-
@larryllix - yes, I have tried several cables, thank you for that question. I don't want to miss any option at this point.
-
Thanks, yes, I think I've been chasing down the wrong problem. It seems the network port on the ISY is dead. I've ordered a replacement and will test. I appreciate the reply.

Hi Brian, Thanks for the reply. There are no indications on the two LEDs on the Network jack. I don't know how to do this and can't find a how-to or other post on how to do it. If you could direct me to the instructions, it would be appreciated. I'm currently not able to access the ISY at all over the network, btw. I appreciate you posting the flowchart. I have read it many times as well as dozens of posts on the forum, wiki, and anything else I can find. I have spent many, many hours trying to fix this.

Hi @MrBill, thanks for showing me that trick! To be clear, don't believe that the issue is the RPi connection. At first, I thought it was my serial PLM, since that's directly plugged into the wall and is a common point of failure. But even with a new USB PLM and a new 2448A7 (this is getting expensive), the ISY shows no signs of 'network life'. With most of these projects, I know enough to get by and to do basic troubleshooting. I was curious if the screenshot that I posted indicated a possible issue with the ISYs network port. I experienced several very strange effects from this "surge", including having two ports on an 8-port switch (connected to a good surge protector) fail, having one zone on a lawn sprinkler controller stop working, and others.

Hi - since having a power surge in my home, my ISY has been down. I've tried workarounds with the USB PLM and the RPi+2448A7 solution, and it seems something is wrong with ISY. No matter what I've tried, I always have the RX/TX lights solid on the ISY. When using the DEBUG tool for Mr. Worf's RPI+2448 program, there's no activity shown on the ISY communication channel. When connecting to the ISY Shell, the boot stalls on "Starting Network Subsystem": Any help is appreciated!!

Hi - Thanks again for all of your work! I don't see the install.sh on github? Tomorrow I am going to assemble everything and try to get it running. Just wanted to see if the 'noob' install.sh version is available. ?
-
That's pretty cool! You work fast!! ?
-
Thanks for the explanation, that was very helpful. And I'll stay tuned as you provide more details on your progress. ?

Hi - First off: Thank you!!!!! This is pretty amazing and great timing since my last serial PLM just died and I bought a USB PLM. Forgive my ignorance, but can you explain the basic configuration? Your photo shows an RPi with (1) the Insteon 2448A7 connected via USB; (2) the RS232-to-TTL connected to a USB port, (3) a RJ45 connection (not sure what that is) and (4) power connection. The RPi Zero only has two mini USB ports and one is for power, so I'm confused. Is the setup PLM USB -> RS232-toTTL -> RPi -> ISY? I've ordered your new TTL converter (NOYITO TTL to RS232) and I can make RJ45 cables, but I'm not sure what I will need to connect to the NOYITO. I don't have any issues soldering. Thanks again!!

Did a test run of swapping the Serial daugher board into a USB PLM today without success. The base board looks updated, with two larger capacitors near the connection. But I don;t see any differences otherwise and I'm surprised it didn't work. The part number is 2413X on the base board. I'm not sure that the problem isn't with the ISY, or somewhere else in my system. TBD. FWIW, whatever power issue hit my home left me with some puzzling issues. One HP 8-port switch lost ports 1 & 2, my RainMachine sprinkler controller lost one zone, this PLM/ISY problem, and a yet-to-be-diagnosed issue with another HP 8-port switch and a Unifi AP caused my IOT VLAN to stop operating properly.

Thanks, that’s good to know and encouraging. I’ll report back after I receive the unit, modify, and test it.
-
Ok, I ordered a 2413U, so we’ll see what happens.
-
Hi - I have browsed through quite a bit of this thread, but not every post. It seems that it was suggested that you can get a PLM 2413U and replace the USB daughter board with a 2413S daughter board? Did I understand that correctly? It seems too easy to be true.

Switched Routers, different IP ranges, ISY wont pick up an IP

Reset and restored ISY. Configuration is loaded. Now many communication errors, ISY can't communicate with several devices. -
Switched Routers, different IP ranges, ISY wont pick up an IP

I just installed a new router and my ISY had a static IP address. Should have reset it to DHCP before the install, obviously. I can connect via PUTTY, but the terminal won't respond to keyboard. Any suggestions? I do have a recent backup, so reset and restore may be easiest. -
Wow - thanks! It's been a while since I set them up and forgot that.. There's even a button to copy the scene attributes to the button! One click and done. I appreciate the help!

Title says it all - I am making changes to a scene (e.g., light level) in the Console (4.6.2) and they do not work on the KP. Specifically I am changing the % level on on two lights and the on/off state on another - no effect. I tried resetting the KP, writing updates, and restoring the device and the KP continues to use the old scene settings. Thanks for any help.

Thanks Paul - I did another factory reset / Write Updates and it is working.... for now. If (when) it has more comm issues, I will check the wire connections and/or remove/add the keypad in the Admin Console.

No recent backup worked, but I had one from just prior to this post: http://forum.universal-devices.com/topic/14643-everything-working-for-3-years-now-several-comm-issues from November 2014 that worked. All devices are now working except for the keypad that I replaced at that time. So, I added the keypad as a new device and did right/click/Replace [Keypad Name] with... the new device. Now, similar to November 2014, the ISY states that it can't communicate with the Keypad.. I have tried factory reset on the keypad and restore device, but can't resolve the issue. Edit - thought it was fixed, but still has comm error.

I have 14 devices + PLM. I will try a reset from last month before I upgraded firmware. Everything was working fine then and I have not made any changes since, other than replacing the failed PLM.
-
Hi Jon - No, I did not do the Delete Modem. I can restore a backup of ISY, if you think that will help. EDIT - I posted same time as your last post. Re-ran several times - 15 every time.
-
Ok - I have noticed there are more than just the two devices that are not updating status. Jon - the PLM Links Count is 15 Here are some sample tables: Garage Door Sensor Device Links: 0 : 0FF8 : A2 00 00.00.00 FF 1F 01 1 : 0FF0 : E2 01 1C.FC.B2 FF 1F 01 2 : 0FE8 : A2 00 1C.FC.B2 00 00 00 3 : 0FE0 : A2 00 34.E6.05 00 00 00 4 : 0FD8 : 00 00 00.00.00 00 00 00 Garage Door Sensor ISY Links: 0 : 0FF8 : 00 00 00.00.00 00 00 00 Driveway Lights Device Links: 0 : 0FF8 : A2 00 34.E6.05 FF 1F 01 1 : 0FF0 : AA 00 34.E7.B8 00 1C 01 2 : 0FE8 : AA 00 34.E6.05 00 1C 01 3 : 0FE0 : 00 00 1C.FC.B2 00 1C 01 Driveway Lights ISY Links: 0 : 0FF8 : A2 00 34.E6.05 FF 1F 01 1 : 0FF0 : 00 00 00.00.00 00 00 00 Fam Room S Switch Device Links: 0 : 0FF8 : A2 00 34.E6.05 FF 1F 01 1 : 0FF0 : A2 01 1C.B1.30 4C 1B 01 2 : 0FE8 : A2 03 30.0F.6A 60 1B 01 3 : 0FE0 : A2 04 30.0F.6A 49 1B 01 4 : 0FD8 : A2 05 30.0F.6A 66 1B 01 5 : 0FD0 : A2 06 30.0F.6A 00 1B 01 6 : 0FC8 : E2 01 1C.B1.30 FF 1F 01 7 : 0FC0 : 00 13 00.00.00 60 1B 01 Fam Room S Switch ISY Links: 0 : 0FF8 : A2 00 34.E6.05 FF 1F 01 1 : 0FF0 : A2 01 1C.B1.30 4C 1B 01 2 : 0FE8 : A2 03 30.0F.6A 60 1B 01 3 : 0FE0 : A2 04 30.0F.6A 49 1B 01 4 : 0FD8 : A2 05 30.0F.6A 66 1B 01 5 : 0FD0 : A2 06 30.0F.6A 00 1B 01 6 : 0FC8 : E2 01 1C.B1.30 FF 1F 01 7 : 0FC0 : 00 00 00.00.00 00 00 00

Ok - tried that and the Restore Modem process did complete normally, but the system is still operating as stated in the first post.
-
Ok - no difference in the Restore Modem time nor in the operation of the system. I tried resetting the PLM: - Unplug PLM & ISY, disconnect ISY from PLM - Wait 30 seconds - Hold Set on PLM and Plug In, hold until beep, green LED comes on - Unplug PLM and connect ISY - Plug in PLM - Restore Modem - it shows 1% and stops - no error, but not restoring I have a second backup PLM, which I will try to install, using the normal process.
