  1. LeeG, Your summation makes sense to me. In fact, it got me thinking about a possible solution for my situation. Prior to this problem I had been considering purchasing another PLM simply to use as an interface for the SHN Utility instead of having to root around in my wiring to unplug the ISY's PLM to use it for the SHN Utility. Now that I understand what the root cause of my problem is, I think that I could re-purpose my EZIComm PLM to use as the interface for my SHN Utility. I would purchase another true Smarthome 2413S with Rev 9B and use that as the interface to the EZIO8SA. Do you see any problems with this line of action? Thanks Neil
  2. Gents, I am embarrassed to tell you that I made a mistake in reading the firmware level on my troubled EZIComm PLM. It is indeed a Rev 9C, NOT a Rev 9B as I originally reported. While attempting ELA's last suggestion about activating the PLM without connecting the EZIO8SA, I realized that I had gotten my cables mixed up and was using the SHN Utility Suite to read the firmware version of the PLM attached to my ISY which is a true Smarthome 2413. Sorry for all the confusion this caused. So in summary my problem of the ISY not auto-updating the state of the EZIO8SA still exists and is associated with a Rev 9C EZIComm PLM. Neil
  3. ELA The SHN Utility reported that my EZIComm was Rev 9B. You asked what my ISY reported it as. Where do I find that info in the ISY? When I click on the unit in the ISY Admin Concole it shows Compacta EZIO9SA: Insteon I/O Controller v.FF. Is there any other place to look? Neil
  4. ELA I hope your 9B works ok for you. It is pretty simple to test for my problem...just change the state of an input (ie from Off to On) and see if my ISY automatically reports the state change. In my case, it does not. I have to do a manual query to see the state change. This , of course, makes the EZIO8SA completely useless for any ISY program which is what I intended to use it for. I will post what Aartech does for me to resolve this problem. Neil
  5. LeeG......thanks for the backgrounder info. Helps me understand what the problem is. ELA....my EziComm PLM, as read by the SHN Utility Suite, shows a Rev 9B It also says Type 2413S (3.11) Interesting that going back to 9B solved your problem but 9B doesn't work for me. In any case, I have contacted my supplier, Aartech (who is the Smarthome distributor in Canada) to see what they will do for me. Neil
  6. OK I set a manual link to a spare Switchlinc 2477S that I had. The SHN Utility Suite in Large mode shows nothing. In Medium mode it shows only one link to the 2477S Insteon ID. So can you explain in laymans terms what is going on here? It sounds to me that SHN did a workaround solution but in doing so prevented their equipment from working properly with another vendor's (UDI) equipment. What is the solution? a true 2413S PLM? Neil
  7. Hi LeeG Thanks for your reply. My answers to your questions: - yes, other devices show state changes. - no, the EZIComm does not have a passthru outlet on the face. - no changes were made with the Utility Suite. - yes, I already had analog input 5&6 connected to EZIO8SA Gnd I have done the reset, deletion, re-add as you suggested and have sent the log file to your email address. Neil
  8. Hi all, I have just installed an EZIO8SA and its associated EZICOMM 2233-233 PLM on my Insteon network. My ISY99IRPro will not automatically update the status of the inputs of the EZIO8SA. It will update the inputs if I manually do a Query. I need this to happen automatically. I have used the Simplehomenet Utility Suite to interrogate the EZIO8SA and it reports input changes when manually queried. I have deleted the EZIO8SA from the ISY, "factory reset" the Ezicomm PLM and then re-added the EZIO8SA to the ISY with no joy resulting. Any suggestions anyone? Thanks, Neil
  9. Michel, As per Lee G, I ran my PLM link count three times with no other activity in the house and got a link count of 220 on all three counts. So that is probably the true number. My PLM is a 2413S, V1.5 according to the sticker and V98 according to the ISY. It is the original unit that came with my ISY kit and is less than two years old. Hope this helps. Neil
  10. Michel, Firmware V.3.3.10 My PLM lost it's links again today. This time I was not accessing remotely but on my LAN. I was playing with an app for my iPad2 called FING which finds what devices are on your LAN, tells you their local IP address and allows you to access the services offered by those devices. I did access the ISY through FING but didn't do anything in the ISY. Later in the day I noticed that one of my programs was not working (the one controlling the lights in my wife's powder room...big trouble!) so I checked the PLM links and they were gone. I reloaded them and everything worked OK. I did notice after reloading that the number of links was 746, not the 250 that was previously indicated. I don't know why such a difference. I had not made any changes to my config. Neil
  11. Hi Michel, When operating normally I have exactly 250 links in the PLM. Interesting comment about spontaneous erasing of PLM links. For what it is worth, another data point that you might want to consider is that my ISY 99irPro in the past couple of weeks has "locked up" a couple of times so that the TX and RX LEDs were on constantly. The only way out was to power cycle the ISY while also removing the PLM and LAN Ethernet cables. Neil
  12. Hi Michel, Thanks for your prompt reply. I have had the PLM links erased twice, once just a couple of days ago and the other time in mid-May. Each time occurred after I accessed my ISY remotely. It does not happen every time that I access remotely. Today I was away from home, accessed the ISY remotely then checked the link tables when I got home. They were OK. I have never had the PLM links erased when I access on my home LAN. In fact the links have never been erased except for the two previously mentioned times. Two link erasure events may not seem like much but they prevent all of my programs from working and the WAF takes a major hit! Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks Neil
  13. Hi all, For the second time now I have remotely accessed my ISY 99irPro, done nothing more than turn a few lights off and on and have subsequently had all of the links in the ISY's PLM erased. This of course stops all my ISY programs from working. I do not remotely access the ISY very often. Anyone else have this problem? Suggestions? Thanks Neil
