Additional info: My ISY is connected to secondary router 192.168.2.1. The DNS setting on this router is pointed to my gateway router ... 192.168.1.1. My gateway router has a DNS1 setting of 207.69.188.186 and DNS2 of 207.69.188.187 In my ISY Admin Console, under Configuration, System, DNS ... I have tried all three possible settings: 192.168.1.1 207.69.188.186 207.69.188.187 None of these worked when I hit the "Test" button under tabs Configuration, Email/Notification. I get the error message: Mail Server DNS Error. There has got to be a solution. Surely someone has faced this issue? By the way, to UDI developers. You have yet another software problem, of the many I have encountered. Under Configuration, System, when you type in a new DNS number and hit the save button, you get a message that the ISY needs to reboot. When that reboot is complete, you can get back to the Admin Console, but the log-in box will not pop up. And you can not select log-in under file. The only solution is a complete re-boot of your computer, or recycle power on the ISY. Seriously, it should not be this hard. There should not be THIS many problems.

Thank you for trying to help me Xathros. I am still not having any success. 1. I did look at your settings. I just don't see any obvious errors in mine. Plus, my settings agree with the settings set up in my email program - Outlook Express. My Outlook Express works fine on my computer after initial boot up, so it's not like I've got the wrong server name or password. And, I've typed and retyped and checked and rechecked each SMTP setting within the ISY. In addition, it does not matter whether I use my SMTP or the default settings ... I am getting the same DNS error. So there is a breakdown somewhere between my ISY and my network. 2. I did look under Configuration, System. I thought at first that this may be my problem. My main gateway is 192.168.1.1. However, my ISY is connected to a secondary router ... 192.168.2.1. The DNS is set as 192.168.1.1. But I tried both, 192.168.1.1 and 192.168.2.1, again, error message after error message. Mail Server DNS Error It simply should not be this difficult, and take this much time, to get an ISY set up so that it works. Is there anyone out there who has encountered these problems getting notifications set up?

Newbie here. Between 1 am and 5 am, I need to turn on some lights when a motion sensor trips on, then turn the lights off 10 minutes later. Can I get this accomplished in 1 program?

My ISY is given a static IP address, so that was not the problem. Restarting the Admin Console did not work. I continued to get a blank in "current state" of all devices. I did not try rebooting the ISY. However, rebooting my computer solved this problem. What a pain.

"An ISY Program can react to the ApplianceLinc being turned On/Off and turn a KPL button On/Off in response. An ApplianceLinc has no Controller capability so it cannot be done directly with a Scene." Really? I can't figure out how to make that happen. "Any linking done outside the ISY can prevent the ISY from being aware of device state changes." Yep, which makes running SmartLinc and ISY in conjunction a very painful process.

I run ZoneAlarm and MS Security Essentials. Can't think that would be the problem though. I did not experience this issue at any other point this week. I did update to latest firmware beta 3.3.9 within last couple of days though. Anyone else having problems with blank current status boxes? It happened after I removed a Motion Sensor, then manually set it up again. Maybe that has something to do with it? Can't re-boot system now. Am running other programs. Will try re-boot later and report back if that solves the issue.

Unfortunately, I have to manually set all links between devices. I have to maintain SmartLinc in conjunction with ISY. Yes, I know this presents immense challenges, but unfortunately ISY will not serve all my needs. ISY does not handle ApplianceLincs so that they can act as Controllers. I have multiple appliances that when on, I need for them to light up keys on Keypadlincs. ISY will not accommodate this need. SmartLinc does. Vice versa, I need ISY to control motion sensors and for some programming. Neither SmartLinc, nor ISY are 100% solutions. So I have to endure the pain of running both. My work around when I need to make manual adjustments to devices - 1. Remove device from ISY. 2. Make manual adjustment. 3. Re-setup device in ISY, instructing it to keep existing links. At some point in the future, either ISY or SmartHome will win this race with a product that meets all needs. But right now, both have sever limitations and weaknesses.

When I log into my admin console, the "Current State" box of all my devices is blank. Obviously, something is wrong. I next took this step to ensure my PLM is connected - Tools, Diagnostics, PLM Info/Status - indicates connected. I then logged off and logged back on. Same issue. Current State for all devices is simply blank. What can I do next to figure out why this is a problem?

Thanks Lee. It's a 22. If as you indicate, it's an inactive link. Now wish I knew whether it was removing the scene, or removing the Motion Sensor, that caused the link to become inactive. Where can I see a list of the codes and their meaning? Am now going to try to manually set-up the motion sensor again.

Thank you Lee Let's skip down to diagnostics. I ran the diagnostics on the KeyPadLinc to see the links table. Although I deleted the scene where the motion sensor got tied to the KeyPadLinc .... it is still reflected in the links table of the KeyPadLinc. So, I deleted the motion sensor from the ISY and ran another diagnostic on the KeyPadLinc. The link to the motion sensor is still reflected in the links table of the KeyPadLinc. How do manually get rid of this link between KeyPadLinc and Motion Sensor?

New to ISY. Encountered strange outcome when setting up Motion Sensor 2842-222. ISY 994i Windows XP Microsoft Security Essentials ZoneAlarm Linksys WRT54GL Set up manually. Selected 2842-222 from drop down box. After set up complete, a scene was automatically established that linked the Motion Sensor with a dual-band KeypadLinc Button A (nearest dual band device to sensor when setting up sensor). Don't have a clue why this scene appeared. The Sensor was brand new, and I have no other sensors in my setup. When testing sensor, every time motion was detected, Button A on KeyPadLinc lit up. I followed instructions to delete the scene. Pressed setup button on back of sensor for 5 seconds then deleted scene. However, first test after deletion from UD Admin Console ... KeypadLinc Button A lit up again. Head scratcher. Ignored it and went on to other issues. Came back. Tested again. This time, nothing. While it appears that I have cleared this up, is there anyway to check to make absolutely sure? Why did this happen? Does the Sensor simply grab the nearest Dual-Band device and establish a scene with that device?

New to ISY. Trying to set up notification. Unsuccessful. ISY 994i Windows XP Microsoft Security Essentials ZoneAlarm Linksys WRT54GL Followed instructions carefully on pages 57 and 58 of users guide. 1. When use my own SMTP settings I get following error message: Mail Server DNS error. In addition, prior to running test, my Outlook Express works. I can check/receive mail. After running test in UD Admin console, get errors in Outlook Express as well. Only way to get my Outlook Express to work again is to exit program and re-open. But errors continue in notification within ISY. Also, tried using with "From*" box blank, also with data input into box. In addition, tried using with TLS checked, and uncheck (don't have a clue what this is ... not addressed in users guide). Have reviewed the other settings very carefully to ensure they agree to account settings in Outlook express. Feel confident that SMTP Server, SMTP Port, UserID and Password are all entered correctly. Just can not get this to work. 2. When check "Use Default", get same error: Mail Server DNS error. Don't have a clue how to examine logs or any other steps that can help determine where error might be. Tried looking through users guide to understand, simply too confusing. Can anyone give me guidance as to what to do to try to identify issue and resolve?
