  1. Sorry.......That's what happens when you are a monopoly. I would think that they would be happy to have more approved devices on their short HAN list. Thanks for your efforts.

    SDG&E HAN

Whatever happened to the testing of the ISY by SDG&E to be listed on their accepted HAN list? Is it no longer cost effective to have this device tested? Thanks
  3. I am a retired electrician. I have an electric cart (Gem) with a battery charger that draws about 18 amps at startup. I use a 30 amp 120 volt relay mounted in an 8x8x4 metal Hoffman type enclosure that in turn feeds a dedicated 20 amp cord for the battery charger. . Also inside that enclosure, I use an Insteon din-rail mounted on/off relay model #2453-222 mounted on a small piece of din-rail. I use that to break the 120volt coil circuit of the 30 amp relay. I also mounted an external switch on the Hoffman enclosure that will manually engage the 120volt coil if I want to override the insteon program. Sounds more complicated than it really is. Basically, The Insteon relay is interrupting the coil circuit of the 30 amp relay. Theoretically, you can do the same thing with any relay or motor starter up to about 100 amps (even a multi-pole relay/starter as long as the coil circuit of the relay/starter does not draw more than the rating of the Insteon din rail mounted relay (15 amps). I would not trust an Insteon device to open/close a load drawing more than 10 amps.
  4. I use Event Ghost with about 20 different audible notifications such as "Fountains on", "Motion sensed", "Irrigation started" and more. Works well.
  5. When LED Xmas lights first made an appearance on the scene about 3 years ago, I had problems with them not shutting off completely. Even though they were supposed to be off, they still glowed faintly due to leakby current. So I took a unused 120v to low voltage (i.e. 6, 12 volt) transformer and cut the low voltage side to about 2 inches long and taped off the ends. I then plugged it into the same power strip with the lights to give it a slightly larger load than the Xmas lights. This solved my problem of them not shutting off. Not saying that this will help your problem but it is worth the try. Just plug in a low voltage transformer without cutting off the secondary wire. If it works, then cut off the load wires and tape them. I am sure that you have an unused transformer from an old video game or phone.
  6. I just had my Home HVAC system replaced last week ($6000) and have been using the Venstar T5800 with the ISY for over 1 1/2 years without a problem. It links wirelessly with the ISY. I also use Event Ghost to announce any changes made to the stat by the ISY. There are a number of past topics addressing this very setup.
  7. I have the Venstar T5800 as well. The Skyport accessory will allow you to control the T-Stat over your Android phone from any location. I have been using that for about 2 years. I also have the ISY-994 controlling my T-Stat. I have the ISY automatically changing the Stat settings 4 times daily based on time of day. I use Mobilinc on my phone if I want to override or change those times remotely. I use Event Ghost to announce those changes as they are implemented. I am not sure how to post a previous thread here but if you Search for Venstar T6800 you will see the previous thread on how to use ISY and Venstar together. Gene
  8. Using your information, I am successfully controlling my Venstar T5800 with the networking module. Thank you so much for the information.
  9. Michel: Has there been any progress with the testing and acceptance for SDG&E?
  10. Any news yet on SDG&E Michel?
  11. Yahooooooooo...it works. Thank you for your efforts. Gene
  12. Michel: Has there been any forward progress with SDG&E? Thanks,
  13. Has anyone gotten this Event Ghost plugin to work with ISY-994i as of yet? I too tried to modify the .ini file with Wordpad as well as Notepad and it still does not work. If someone has, could you please post the file like the initial configuration file on page 1 of this posting. Thanks, Gene
  14. Thanks Michel. Like I said, I knew if anyone could work this through it was you. By the way, I believe that SDG&E requires a 16 digit MAC ID and Install Code, not 24 or 32. Gene https://www.sdge.com/webform/3837/conne ... mart-meter
  15. Michel: I found these web sites for more information about testing products with SDG&E. I am not sure if this would help you or not? http://www.sdge.com/home-area-network-d ... validation http://www.smartgrid.gov/recovery_act/n ... art_meters And am I to understand that testing with the Utilities is dead in the water due to the cost of the proprietary test harness? Thank you, Gene
