I do have a lamp with CFL bulbs and I noticed the bulbs looked like they were failing. This could be the problem of the communication issues?

OK, I just did the 'Show PLM Links Table' and the count was 115. No idea what that means! PLM Info/Status: 1F.23.B4 v9B / Connected (I'll have to get the info from the back of the PLM tonight) It's a ISY 994i (1120) - OpenADR (21010). Firmware and UI are both Insteon_UD994 v.4.3.26 (2015-10-13-11:35:11)

I've been reworking a lot of my home network with the addition of new cameras and new network switches. I've made some changes to my ISY lately by adding some motion sensors and door sensors. I'm starting to wonder if my PLM is going bad. I've read they are good for about 2 years and I'm a little beyond that. Specifically, I'm having trouble with a garage door open/close sensor, a dimmerlinc, and a keypadlinc. The garage door sensor just always shows that it is open. I've noticed that a keypad linc has the green pentagon shape by it on the UD aministrative console. Also, this morning (the final straw before creating this post), my flood lights didn't pop on when I left the house. I have a program that utilizes a motion sensor and pops on the floods when motion is detected. But, when I looked at mobilinc on my phone, it showed the floods scene was 'ON'. What am I missing? If it is time for a new PLM, where is the best place to purchase? Or, what version(s) should I purchase / avoid? Edit - it's behaving similar to the time when a baby monitor was giving me fits. No baby monitors now (although we will need a new baby monitor in October! )

OK, looking forward to some more experimenting. Oberkc, thank you. 1. Yes, geofence is what I'm basing this off of. I do not need to trigger the program at change of state - you are correct. 2. Yes, I use a state variable for home and away. Home = 1 away = 0 for both phones. My thinking is, ISY could text my wife if her phone is the one changing from 1 to 0. If my phone is 0, then I'm not at the house. If hers changes from 1 to 0, then she is the one who most recently left the house (unsecured). I was actually going to copy the program and switch it around to contact me in the event I left the house with a door open.

KeviNH - thank you for that. I've created a state variable and I'm working that method now. Question regarding, "customize the notification to include the value of all variables involved, or even the state of all of the doors being tested against, so you know which door is the culprit." I'm not seeing the state of variables in the custom notification setup. Can you elaborate on how I would do this?

Using state variables of my iphone and my wife's iphone. 1 represents being home. OK, I'll give that a try. OK, that didn't work for me. I just got my text notification 1 minute later (I put a 1 minute wait). Any other suggestions?

But, I also got a text message when I arrived back home and opened the garage door. I believe this is because my phone had not "entered Home region" yet. Any suggestions on change(s)? I'm having this same problem at my home. I'm able to remotely log in and make changes via my work PC. I'll try clearing the java cache later this evening to see it that is the problem.

This is just going to wait a minute to notify me. I guess I'm saying I want to give the first ON signal (my MS are currently sending ON only) a 1 minute time out, then.. check again for motion. If motion, notify. If no motion, carry on with no notification.

my IOLinc is ON when door is closed. yeah, I have 2 daughters under 8 years old. buttons will be pushed.

Maybe I'm overthinking this, but does anyone else have some programs they can share regarding outdoor lights and motion sensors? Since it's brand new to me, I like seeing the notifications. But, I would like to reduce the false notifications if it's just a squirrel or something passing by. I understand HA can do anything you want it to do, but I guess I'm just not completely sure of what I want.

OK, it appears to be working, but.... When I push 'G' or 'H', the light goes off. I push it again and it blinks. Any way to disable the button so it only turns on or off dependent on the scene?

I'm learning, but I'm still bad with making the logic. If motion is detected, wait 60 seconds, and check for motion again. If motion for a minute, send me an email. Otherwise disregard the single notification. Last night I got 3 emails and I'm not sure if they were false alarms or what. Thinking that if somebody is tripping the MS for 60 seconds (or maybe only 30), during those hours, then I need to know. Is that what occupancy mode could be for? Sorry, I'm bad at this. 2nd question - is the else good? Or, should I do something else? Or, just do nothing?

What would be the best way to use a couple of buttons on a KeypadLinc to indicate if a garage door is open? I have 3 keypads in the house and would like all of them to use G & H as notifications. If door 1 is open, light key G. If door 2 is open, light H. I don't want any further control - just an indicator light. Even if the button is pushed, I want the light to stay on if the door is open.

Yeah, I did opt for the 'ON only' as most seemed to prefer that method. But, should I have it constantly send that signal? Thinking we may play in the yard for a couple hours after dark and have a couple hours of signals. Just thinking broadly here - would that help battery life a little bit having a 10 minute timeout?
