Within the ISY portal 'Google Home Device List', in the 'spoken mapping' section there are only 4x categories to assign to a device - Scene, Light, Switch & Outlet. It appears that Google home supports a lot more options (see this list - https://developers.google.com/actions/smarthome/guides/). I have some roller blinds that are not natively supported by Google and within the ISY they are assigned as lights. "Google open the blinds" does NOT work but "Google turn on the blinds" works. Is it possible to add these additional categories (valve, shutter, window, ect) ? Would this open up the ability to use Open/Close commands (vs. On/Off) per the google documentation?

Need to add a doorbell with camera to my setup. Looking for something that works well with the ISY ideally without a 3rd party (ie. IFTTT) dependency. Any suggestions?

Yes, you can do this with a single program the UP (network resource command) in the THEN and the DOWN (network resource) das the ELSE. "OFF" and "ON" commands work fine and I am able to assign rooms. However, saying "Turn ON the blinds" to open the blinds is not ideal. Thats all i want, the abilty to say 'OPEN' or 'RAISE' instead of "ON" (with out using IFTTT).

Google Assistant on IFTTT (not in the google home app) allows for custom commands so i can say "open the blinds" or "open the living room blinds" - the problem is that this is using IFTTT and therefor is not a 'device' within the google home app of which you can then assign a room. Of course I can add the blinds as devices (via a program in the Google Home setup in ISY Portal) but as mentioned Google Home then thinks these programs are bulbs/lights/switches so it responds to ON/OFF only. So afaik I am out of luck until I can either a) Assign Rooms to IFTTT Google Adds "OPEN" as an ON command ("Close" actually works) Maybe I am missing something

Is there any way to add a blinds into the ISY Portal Google Home Interface so that the home knows they are blinds (and not a program)? Does google home natively support blinds? This would solve a small problem on my system mine - My blinds are in the ISY as a network resource. I have been able to get them working in two ways with pros and cons - First way is to use IFTTT which works well but since I have multiple blinds I loose the ability to assign rooms to blinds in the home app. The work around is that you need to add an IFTTT command for each room "raise the bedroom blinds" vs. just "raise the blinds" when the blinds and home speaker are in the same room. This is what I use now but its not 100% ideal because you need to use IFTTT and you loose the ability to assign rooms to the blind/device. Second way is to add the blinds into home as a device (program) like a normal light or scene in the ISY portal Google Home integration. With this setup you can assign rooms but the language doesn't work because google thinks the blinds are lights. So "turn on/off the blinds works" but not "raise/lower". First world problems. FYI you can now say something like "turn on the kitchen AND living room lights" or "turn on the kitchen lights AND give me the weather". Works great! You can mix commands too, i have tried mixing IFTTT commands with devices and native google functions (like weather, or music) and it all works. https://www.androidauthority.com/google-home-multiple-commands-818962/

I'm not sure that works. This would use a different setup, not using IFTTT which I am ok with.. I make a program for lets say 'bedroom blinds' assign the network resource for OPEN to the THEN and the CLOSE network resource to the ELSE. Then assign the Program in the Google Home app to a specific room - in this case 'bedroom'? Do you know if I would be able to say "Open" and "Close the blinds", or do i have to say "Turn On the bedroom" and "Turn Off the bedroom"? That seems less intuitive than "Close the Bedroom Blinds" Also, can you tell Google Home to recognize a program in the portal as a particular device.. in this case blinds?

Realize that this isn't necessarily an ISY question but figured someone may have researched some way to make this happen - I can say "raise the blinds" received by my living room google home and it raises the living room blinds. I just got a Google home mini for my bedroom and i would like to say the same thing - "raise the blinds" but in this case it would be received by the mini in the bedroom and raise the bedroom blinds is this possible in any way? In my setup the "raise the blinds" command is using IFTTT/Google Assistant Applet triggering a program on the ISY (network resource) via the portal and IFTTT maker channel. I realize I could just add "raise the X blinds" but being able to trigger commands based on the device its received would take this next level.

Ideally we would be able to send a command to the Google Home to say something. For example, if the garage door opens in the basement the ISY would send a command to Google to have the Home say "Garage Door Opened". Any way of doing this?

Testing this out with some issues. I have an Insteon Thermostat - 2441TH. The ambient temp is currently 22 and the cool setpoint is 22 and the heat set setpoint is 19. When I say "Alexa turn the thermostat to 20 degrees" the heat setpoint changes, not the cool setpoint which should be changing. More importantly, I can see that the setting changes in my ISY admin console, but the set point on the thermostat does not change.

Like this right? Where the ground is the negative of the speaker contact? It is... maybe it would be easier to get a battery powered one since they are likely $20? But it would be nice to have it powered. How do I test if this is an issue? The unit only plugs in one way (unpolarized). I saw your post above in terms of measuring against the saftey ground. when i test both the postive and negative speaker leads against a true ground (in powerbar) there is a consistant 5v. Thanks! The receiver is plugged into the wall with a regular plug - no ground though :/ How can I test if there will be power isolation issues? I have no idea what that means.. I measured the voltage running across the speaker and it peaks at roughly 3V when the button is pressed (one tone for about 1 second) otherwise no voltage. What I am also struggling with is the output on the 2n2222 puts out a positive and negative and the iolinc needs a positive and ground. Is the ground and negative the same here?

I was googling and found this link http://www.instructables.com/id/Hack-a-wireless-doorbell-into-a-wireless-alarm-swi/step2/Prepping-the-Receiver/ It looks like he adds a 2n2222 transistor to the speaker outputs to turn the variable voltage pulse from the speaker outputs into a basic on/off switch. Would this work with the iolinc? I guess I dont understand what a 'dry closure' would be. Any help is appreciated. I cannot believe there isnt a wireless doorbell that triggers something like this - i cant be the only one! Thing is, i dont really care about the speaker on the wireless doorbell reciever. I simply need to use it to trigger an insteon event. I will likely use the IOlinc relay outputs to trigger another chime somewhere else once (hopefully) i get this working.

Ok so I am a bit over my head here. I have an small (wireless doorbell) speaker that I want to connect to an IO Link which is a product I am new with. From what I can tell the IOlinc accepts one input using a Ground and Sense inputs (up to 5v i read). I measured the voltage when the chime on the speaker (in the wireless doorbell receiver) plays and its about 3V. So anyone familiar with the IO link, I am not great with electronics and i'm confused how i would attach the speaker to the IO Link ground and sense inputs. Does the IO link accept both AC and DC Inputs up to 5v? If it accepts AC would I just connect the speaker positive (+) to the io link sense input, and the negative (-) to the io link ground? Not sure if this helps but the word "mode" stopped working for me. I had a few commands "bedtime mode", "away mode", that after I removed the word mode things started to work again...

This is working amazing. Thank you. One issue - After linking with the ISY my Echo has lost the ability to pick up devices on the Hue Emulator running on Pi. Not like I need the emulator anymore since this now has the same functionality but seemed odd since others reported the Echo picked up both. Suggestion for the UD team - in the 'Spoken Nodes and Themes' page, a link that opens the Echo Discover Devices page would be smart. I got used to this in the emulator UI that barry made and it makes it obvious that the echo needs updating after you make any changes.

Ok so I have everything working using the instructions below. The delay on turning on and off lights seems to be around a second which I can live with. I am having some odd problems - the red light in moblinc stays red despite the fact it syncs and adjusts scenes/devices. Thermostat is not pulling any info either. Realize this maybe a Mobilinc thing but was hoping this would work without issue.

Thanks to everyone who got this working. I setup a new echo over the weekend with Barry's tool and I am now controlling everything on my ISY with voice commands. Works insanely well and the wife is loving it. We are living in the future! For those setting up for the first time, here are a few things I noticed (probably very obvious for most). - In the setup tool, for IP address of emulator, if you are running the emulator locally (i am not using rpi yet) use 127.0.0.1:8080 (not 192.168 <-whatever the actual IP is of the PC) - The setup instructions on the very first post of this thread work fine but use Barry's config tool (vs. g1of4's which as of writing this does also work) Still need to figure out a few things: - How to have it work with "Alexa Watch TV" vs. "Alexa Turn on TV" (maybe its a limitation of the emulator in that you have to say ON/OFF as a command. - Also dimming commands "Alexa set Kitchen Lights to 50%" - Run the emulator on RPi

Just wondering if this is still in beta or if its available?
