    Digital I/O

I've taken a quick look at the Network Module but don't see an API that would facilitate me sending simple Ethernet messages to trigger programs or change variables. If someone could point me to that it would be brilliant. I'm already running code on a RPi that works with my PCs and various sensors around my house so adding the ISY capability would be amazing.

    Digital I/O

I modify things around my house all the time so the number varies but I could use about 6 right now. For example I currently can tap a discrete that indicates if my front door is open or not. I would like to use that to turn on my front porch light which is controlled by an Insteon switch. I know I can do that with Insteon devices but it's expensive and inconvenient. If there was some other way to get discretes into the ISY it would be great. If I could aggregate these signals and then send them using RS-232 or Ethernet Sockets or if Insteon had a device that would take multiple low voltage inputs - say like 8 - those would all be nice alternatives.

    Digital I/O

I have a number of digital discrete signals that I would like to use in programs in my ISY-994i. Is there any way to do this short of buying a bunch of $50 Insteon devices - one for each signal?
  4. Sorry I figured it out. I hadn't saved the program. Thanks again.
  5. Thanks for the reply. I'm not sure what the "Alexa dialog" is.
  6. Another question for clarity: 3) Do I need a separate key for each Web Hook? The web key as I understand it is just to establish a connection to a single ISY and thus only one is needed for a single ISY.
  7. I have two problems: 1) I created a new program on my ISY but when I logon to the Portal and try and establish connectivity the new program doesn't appear as an option in the dropdown. How do I refresh the list of programs available on the Portal? 2) In the program itself what condition do I use in the If portion?
  8. Thank you. Moving forward now...
  9. I have copied the first few steps from the instructions for configuring my ISY-994i for use with IFTTT. I have ISY Portal installed and activated. I can't figure out where to find the referenced "Select Tool | Connectivity | IFTTT" I've looked everywhere in the Admin Console but can't find it. Setup Instructions - ISY Portal On portal, IFTTT configuration is in Select Tool | Connectivity | IFTTT First, you will need to click on "Set Key" to create an IFTTT Key that will be used to authenticate your IFTTT requests
  10. I suspected there was something straightforward I needed to do and sure enough "Restore Modem" did the trick. Thank you all very much!
  11. A while back my ISY994i stopped executing programs triggered by an external event like a light switch or keypad button. Scheduled events work fine and I can turn things on/off from the Admin Console. I got a new PLM and installed it today hoping it would solve the problem but nothing has changed. I'm not sure how to proceed.
  12. Thank you all for comments/support. I've got everything back in operation with the 4.4.1 version. After getting versions synced and running "restore modem(PLM)" everything is functional!
  13. Thanks for the input. I downloaded the newer UI but it doesn't have the Font Fix for high DPI monitors. I guess I need to download 4.4.1 Firmware which I haven't found yet. I was running the 4.4.1 UI b/c I need the High DPI Font Fix in order to be about to see the UI on my 5K monitor. Where would I get a ISY994i Firmware 4.4.1 or perhaps older?
  14. Firmware: v.4.3.26 UI:V.4.4.1 All Insteon switches and controllers, etc I can sit at my computer and turn anything on/off from my ISY and linked stuff works fine but my programs no longer run. I think previously I've used the Diagnostics | Event Viewer successfully to watch stuff work but it doesn't currently seem to see it when I push switches and buttons. For example I can turn living room lights on/off from computer using Admin Console. I can also turn them off using RemoteLinc 2 buttons as programmed some time ago. But I see nothing on Event Viewer when I press RemoteLinc2 buttons. Nor do the RemoteLinc2 buttons initiate program actions which used to work before I upgraded everything to be able to see the Admin Console on my high DPI monitor. Actually I just remembered that I have some programs that run based on schedules and they seem to work OK. So it's just programs triggered when a switch is pressed that don't seem to work. I can't remember how to capture the text in a program or I'd include the program that's not working. But shouldn't I see the switch press in the event viewer?
  15. Michel I finally got my Java install straightened out and tried your suggestion. Now I can actually use my ISY994i on my new high DPI Windows 10 platform. Thank you. Scott
  16. Paul I saw your message this morning and went to try it but now I have Java stuck in 640 X 480 and I can't change it. I've removed Java, deleted the files in the program folder, rebooted, and re-installed it but when I go to check the version I get a 640 X 480 window that's very hard to navigate. I have nothing set in compatibility mode but it's stuck there at 640 X 480. Google hasn't helped and I'm currently at a loss for the next step. While in this 640 X 480 screen I've managed to get to display settings and set things right but then it always reverts back. There must be a setting in the registry that doesn't get cleared when I uninstall. Anyway thanks for your suggestion and I will pursue it when I can. Scott
  17. Paul I see what your saying now and I'm running Win 10 but not having any luck. Playing around with the compatibility troubleshooter I did finally get the 640 X 480 screen size to work but that resulted in the following Java error. --------------------------- Java Web Start 11.66.2.18-fcs --------------------------- Error encountered while invoking Java Web Start (SysExec) C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre1.8.0_66\bin\jp2launcher.exe --------------------------- OK --------------------------- From the look of what little I could see on the screen that wasn't going to work either. I'm running on an iMac 5K (Boot Camp). When I run it in OSX it's gorgeous. Scott
  18. All, There isn't a compatibility mode setting on admin.jnlp just on exe files. What file are you doing this compatibility mode setting on? Scott
  19. OK. Here's some more clarification. Turns out that even though the 2450 is a powerline only device and the 2843 is an RF only device if they are both triggered at the same time the 2450 signal is lost. When I wired separate drivers to each but triggered them about the same time the 2450 still failed. So the final solution was to delay the trigger signal by a few seconds to one of the devices.
  20. I'm not trying to communicate between these devices. I'm only interested in making sure a message gets through from one of these two devices to the PLM. Since I've always had trouble with X-10 / powerline signaling (the reason I switched to Insteon) I don't trust the 2450 by itself. So I'm adding the 2843 to essentially make the combination of the two devices dual-band. I'm pretty confident that one of the two signals will get to the PLM.
  21. When I bought the 2450 I hadn't realized it wasn't dual band and I've had some comm issues with the 2450 so for redundancy I added a 2843-222 Open/Close Sensor module in parallel. The 2843-222 worked fine (but it operates off of three volts - derived from a battery). Both were being driven from an open drain output of a PIC micro. I'll simply drive them from separate outputs now. I didn't actually look at the voltages but when I disconnected the 2843-222 the 2450 began to work properly. I might as well add a regulator to my board anyway and drive the 2843 from the 2450 power supply so I don't have to worry about replacing the battery. It would have been much simpler if there was a dual band 2450 but apparently there is not yet.
  22. You are correct about the signal levels being the problem. It didn't occur to me that the logic that drives the white and green LEDs is separate from the logic that drives the Insteon transmissions but it must be. I have changed the wiring and it now works. Thank you.
  23. Answers to reply 1 1)When triggered both the green LED next to the input connector and the white light on the side flash. 2) If I manually trigger the IO Linc the program runs. 3) Alarm In-Sensor is referencing the sensor. Answers to Reply 2 1) The green LED goes on and the white one flashes on the IO Linc when I trigger it. Also I can change options from the ISY just fine. I didn't know about triggering the IO Linc by pushing the Set button until it was suggested but since I tried that and the program runs that would seem to rule out comm problems. When I hold my trigger input low the green LED comes on and stays on until I release the signal. The white light on the side and the relay also follow the green LED ( depending on how I set the options). Oh and the ISY Admin Pgm doesn't respond to my trigger input but does respond to the manual trigger.
  24. Changed "Fade up" to "On." No change in results.
  25. My IO Linc doesn't cause this program to trigger. I can query the IO Linc and change the options. When I trigger the input sensor the LED goes on but the program doesn't start. I've also tried "switched Off." Can't see what I'm doing wrong. If Control 'Alarm in-Sensor' is switched On Then Set 'Alarm Lights' Fade Up Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action')
