I have a scene for "On" and a scene for "Off". It looks like the Admin Console doesn't want to let me add the same device as Controller to two scenes, it want's to make them Responders in the other. The closet lights are 4 x Cree 2700K 800 lumen 13.5W lamps. Would changing the ramp rate to instantaneous help, do you think? Right now all the links are gone, they're in factory reset and freshly added to Admin Console with "delete links" state. The load side devices are controlling the lights, the line side devices are not.
-
for clarification, why would the two SwitchLincs be Controllers and not Responders?
-
I think they're all LED now, but the closet set may be halogens. No CFLs anywhere on the property. They weren't in a scene before, so I must have linked them per the Insteon "install a three way switch" instructions. I'm factory resetting the four devices which are involved in the circuits. The two devices freezing up are in both cases the line side of the circuit. In both cases the load sides of the circuits remain operational. I'm not sure if that's indicative of anything or not.

Pulling out the reset button for 3-4 seconds fixed it once, but not the second time. Holding off on a full reset of the switch until have get better advice.

I have two 2744D dual band SwithcLinc dimmers that I've retrofitted into a closet following the instructions that came with them for a three way installation. (Identifying the load side, the line side, capping off unused traveler wire, etc.) These have been installed and working well, but not controlled by a scene, for around 18 months. Following the suggestion on the wiki, I put both switches into a scene (as responders) that's controlled by a RemoteLinc 2 button that will turn them on by bringing both to 50% with a 2 second ramp with another scene to take them back to 0% the same way. Executing the scene works a cycle or two, then one of the switches (The line side) "freezes up", won't respond or operate anymore. I'm suspecting that I'm not configuring this the best way and the two switches are fighting each other somehow.

I put the RemoteLinc outside the garage at the end of the house furthest from the PLM but still within 35' and two walls of a dual-band device, it went right in. Great ideas, thanks! This is a very clever idea. I've been pondering, "I wonder if there's a signal strength meter?"

It's on 4.3.26

Can't get a successful write to a RemoteLinc. Have worked on this one a couple of hours this morning, including removing it from the configuration and adding it back in. During that process I found out that there's a "sweet spot" of sorts in an upstairs bedroom that I had to have it in to add it back. The remote's address is 11.C5.18. I've added it back to scenes, but writing the changes out fails: Sun 11/01/2015 11:55:10 AM : Setting Time From NTP Sun 11/01/2015 12:00:56 PM : [11 C5 18 1 ] Link 16 : 0F78 [E201143B46010001] Writing [E201143B46010001] Sun 11/01/2015 12:02:27 PM : [11 C5 18 1 ] Link 16 : 0F78 [E201143B46010001] Writing [E201143B46010001] Sun 11/01/2015 12:02:27 PM : [iNST-TX-I1 ] 02 62 11 C5 18 0F 28 0F Sun 11/01/2015 12:02:27 PM : [iNST-ACK ] 02 62 11.C5.18 0F 28 0F 06 SET-MSB(0F) Sun 11/01/2015 12:02:29 PM : [iNST-SRX ] 02 50 11.C5.18 3C.49.9F 2F 28 0F SET-MSB(0F) Sun 11/01/2015 12:02:29 PM : [std-Direct Ack] 11.C5.18-->ISY/PLM Group=0, Max Hops=3, Hops Left=3 Sun 11/01/2015 12:02:29 PM : [iNST-TX-I1 ] 02 62 11 C5 18 0F 2B 78 Sun 11/01/2015 12:02:29 PM : [iNST-ACK ] 02 62 11.C5.18 0F 2B 78 06 PEEK (78) Sun 11/01/2015 12:02:31 PM : [iNST-SRX ] 02 50 11.C5.18 3C.49.9F 2F 2B E2 PEEK (E2) Sun 11/01/2015 12:02:31 PM : [std-Direct Ack] 11.C5.18-->ISY/PLM Group=0, Max Hops=3, Hops Left=3 Sun 11/01/2015 12:02:31 PM : [iNST-TX-I1 ] 02 62 11 C5 18 0F 28 0F Sun 11/01/2015 12:02:31 PM : [iNST-ACK ] 02 62 11.C5.18 0F 28 0F 06 SET-MSB(0F) Sun 11/01/2015 12:02:31 PM : [iNST-SRX ] 02 50 11.C5.18 3C.49.9F 23 2B E2 PEEK (E2) Sun 11/01/2015 12:02:31 PM : [std-Direct Ack] 11.C5.18-->ISY/PLM Group=0, Max Hops=3, Hops Left=0 Sun 11/01/2015 12:02:38 PM : [ Time] 12:02:38 0(0) Sun 11/01/2015 12:02:40 PM : [iNST-TX-I1 ] 02 62 11 C5 18 0F 28 0F Sun 11/01/2015 12:02:40 PM : [iNST-ACK ] 02 62 11.C5.18 0F 28 0F 06 SET-MSB(0F) Sun 11/01/2015 12:02:49 PM : [iNST-TX-I1 ] 02 62 11 C5 18 0F 28 0F Sun 11/01/2015 12:02:49 PM : [iNST-ACK ] 02 62 11.C5.18 0F 28 0F 06 SET-MSB(0F) Sun 11/01/2015 12:02:50 PM : [iNST-SRX ] 02 50 11.C5.18 3C.49.9F 2F 28 0F SET-MSB(0F) Sun 11/01/2015 12:02:50 PM : [std-Direct Ack] 11.C5.18-->ISY/PLM Group=0, Max Hops=3, Hops Left=3 Sun 11/01/2015 12:02:50 PM : [iNST-TX-I1 ] 02 62 11 C5 18 0F 2B 79 Sun 11/01/2015 12:02:50 PM : [iNST-ACK ] 02 62 11.C5.18 0F 2B 79 06 PEEK (79) Sun 11/01/2015 12:02:51 PM : [iNST-SRX ] 02 50 11.C5.18 3C.49.9F 23 28 0F SET-MSB(0F) Sun 11/01/2015 12:02:51 PM : [std-Direct Ack] 11.C5.18-->ISY/PLM Group=0, Max Hops=3, Hops Left=0 Sun 11/01/2015 12:02:51 PM : [iNST-SRX ] 02 50 11.C5.18 3C.49.9F 2F 2B 01 PEEK (01) Sun 11/01/2015 12:02:51 PM : [std-Direct Ack] 11.C5.18-->ISY/PLM Group=0, Max Hops=3, Hops Left=3 Sun 11/01/2015 12:02:51 PM : [iNST-TX-I1 ] 02 62 11 C5 18 0F 28 0F Sun 11/01/2015 12:02:51 PM : [iNST-ACK ] 02 62 11.C5.18 0F 28 0F 06 SET-MSB(0F) Sun 11/01/2015 12:03:00 PM : [iNST-TX-I1 ] 02 62 11 C5 18 0F 28 0F Sun 11/01/2015 12:03:00 PM : [iNST-ACK ] 02 62 11.C5.18 0F 28 0F 06 SET-MSB(0F) Sun 11/01/2015 12:03:09 PM : [iNST-TX-I1 ] 02 62 11 C5 18 0F 28 0F Sun 11/01/2015 12:03:09 PM : [iNST-ACK ] 02 62 11.C5.18 0F 28 0F 06 SET-MSB(0F) Sun 11/01/2015 12:03:09 PM : [iNST-SRX ] 02 50 11.C5.18 3C.49.9F 2F 28 0F SET-MSB(0F) Sun 11/01/2015 12:03:09 PM : [std-Direct Ack] 11.C5.18-->ISY/PLM Group=0, Max Hops=3, Hops Left=3 Sun 11/01/2015 12:03:09 PM : [iNST-TX-I1 ] 02 62 11 C5 18 0F 2B 7A Sun 11/01/2015 12:03:09 PM : [iNST-SRX ] 02 50 11.C5.18 3C.49.9F 23 28 0F SET-MSB(0F) Sun 11/01/2015 12:03:09 PM : [std-Direct Ack] 11.C5.18-->ISY/PLM Group=0, Max Hops=3, Hops Left=0 Sun 11/01/2015 12:03:09 PM : [iNST-ACK ] 02 62 11.C5.18 0F 2B 7A 06 PEEK (7A) Sun 11/01/2015 12:03:10 PM : [iNST-SRX ] 02 50 11.C5.18 3C.49.9F 2B 2B 14 PEEK (14) Sun 11/01/2015 12:03:10 PM : [std-Direct Ack] 11.C5.18-->ISY/PLM Group=0, Max Hops=3, Hops Left=2 Sun 11/01/2015 12:03:10 PM : [iNST-TX-I1 ] 02 62 11 C5 18 0F 28 0F Sun 11/01/2015 12:03:10 PM : [iNST-ACK ] 02 62 11.C5.18 0F 28 0F 06 SET-MSB(0F) Sun 11/01/2015 12:03:11 PM : [iNST-SRX ] 02 50 11.C5.18 3C.49.9F 2F 28 0F SET-MSB(0F) Sun 11/01/2015 12:03:11 PM : [std-Direct Ack] 11.C5.18-->ISY/PLM Group=0, Max Hops=3, Hops Left=3 Sun 11/01/2015 12:03:11 PM : [iNST-TX-I1 ] 02 62 11 C5 18 0F 2B 7B Sun 11/01/2015 12:03:11 PM : [iNST-ACK ] 02 62 11.C5.18 0F 2B 7B 06 PEEK (7B) Sun 11/01/2015 12:03:12 PM : [iNST-SRX ] 02 50 11.C5.18 3C.49.9F 23 28 0F SET-MSB(0F) Sun 11/01/2015 12:03:12 PM : [std-Direct Ack] 11.C5.18-->ISY/PLM Group=0, Max Hops=3, Hops Left=0 Sun 11/01/2015 12:03:12 PM : [iNST-DUP ] Previous message ignored. My INSY994i loses time pretty badly, so much so that I don't think it's any "normal" clock time drive issues. Here's an event log from a few minutes ago. Sun 11/01/2015 11:04:14 AM : Setting Time From NTP Sun 11/01/2015 11:22:22 AM : [ Time] 11:22:22 0(0) Sun 11/01/2015 11:41:13 AM : [11 C5 18 1 ] Link 16 : 0F78 [E201143B46010001] *Failed Writing [E201143B46010001] Sun 11/01/2015 11:44:57 AM : [FileOpen ] Open failed for [/CONF/ELK.CNF] ® Sun 11/01/2015 11:35:32 AM : [FileOpen ] Open failed for [/CONF/ELK.CNF] ® Sun 11/01/2015 11:35:42 AM : Setting Time From NTP Sun 11/01/2015 11:46:29 AM : [All ] Writing 0 bytes to devices As you can see, it was ~18 minutes behind at 11:22, which it held OK until 11:44, when it jumped back ~9 minutes. Clicking the "Synchronize Now" button brought it back, but it's fallen back two minutes since then.... Any ideas?

Should I be able to add 11.c5.18 or does it have to be 11.C5.18? Thanks!

Thanks for the tips, and I've been using them on my next issue, I'll post on that one in a few. Before I SAW these tips, I moved the whole ISY994i/PLM setup to another part of the house and it worked quickly and smoothly. I don't know why it would pretty well where it was for the rest of the house's devices and not that one, but I'm moving on. As part of that discovery and writing config changes back to a RemoteLinc and several RemoteLinc 2's, I've discovered that the latter really, really like to be written to in my office (where the PLM used to be) and nowhere else, and the former really really wants to be in a bedroom upstairs to be written to at ALL.

No other outlets. One run of romex from one breaker in a good panel, four track lights. All have neutral and hot on same wire nuts, four separate nuts for loads. All in same track assembly. All incandescent. Have tried all with no loads.
-
Followed the location.
-
No, all newer dual-band ones. 2475DA V.7.3 units. When I first installed them, I figured there had to be wrong with "number 3" so I swapped it, with no effect. All tied together with wire nuts on the same circuit, other than the loads.
-
I have inlinelincs controlling low voltage pendant lighting. The transformers can be extremely noisy and affect the inlinelinc. These are normal voltage, no transformers Are the loads off on all 4 inlinelincs when attempting to configure? Yes. Never occurred to me to try it the OTHER way, though....

I have four InLineLinc Dimmers installed in my attic for driving track lighting in the living room below. Using the Link Management | Start Linking method, I can add three of them and tie them to scenes. The "start linking" method never detects the fourth one. Trying to add it by address results "Cannot determine Insteon Engine". Using a manual link process to a controller (Press and hold button on RemoteLinc 2 until beep, press and hold set button on dimmer until double beep) works, I can control the dimmer with the button, but can't add it to scenes, other controllers, etc. All four dimmers are on the same circuit, a breaker by themselves. I'm running 4.2.26 firmware and UI. I just had a PLM fail (electrical hit in a storm, I think. I wasn't at the house but several things not on battery backup reset), replaced it today. This problem existed before that, the PLM replacement just forced it back into my thought process. I'm tearing my hair out.... Thanks for any ideas, Marc
