Couldn't work out how to split the quote of your post, so answers in the same order as your questions/comments. "kit east fan high" is the controller in the scene. Confirmed. Attribute for that button is fan on high speed. Confirmed No programs even remotely related to any fans in the house. Confirmed Didn't think of trying the scene from the console. Just did. Instant response. 1 click of "On" in the scene, fan came on high. Exactly my point. If it were comms issues, it wouldn't react. Instead, it turns off. Plus the fact it only happens from Med to High, no other combination of actions has an issue. With over 300 Insteon devices, I've had my fair share of comms and cross comm issues. This doesn't fit any of those. Not sure if there's another way to check links, but when looking at the fan motor in the admin console, it shows membership as a responder to the 4 buttons on this switch, nothing else. Thanks for your thoughts. I'm open to any others you may have after reading my responses. Brett

That's not likely in this situation. Every other command gets through correctly. There are 16 Insteon components in that room also, which helps with transmission.

Not a fix, but a work around. I just discovered that by going into Advanced Properties and setting Device Communication to "2 Retries" will get the fan onto high speed. Watching the LED on the fanlinc, pushing the button still turns the fan off, the original problem, but then the ISY sends the 2nd "retry" and that turns the fan on high as desired. Perhaps a 2 second delay in the overall reaction but achieves the desired result. Still curious as to thoughts on the actual issue. Thanks. Brett

Not sure if this is an ISY issue or an Insteon hardware issue. I have 8 ceiling fans, all running fanlincs controlled by 6 button switches. I set each of them up with 5 scenes, light on/off, Fan low, med, high and off. All work well. I had a hardware issue on one fan, where when selecting high, the fan motor would sound like it was about to explode. An internal issue in the fanlinc was screwing with the power output to the motor. I just replaced that fanlinc with a new one. I used the "Replace" feature in ISY admin console. It didn't work well at all. In fact, ISY continually crashed each time I tried to do it. In the end, I deleted the original fanlinc from the console, added the new fanlinc as a new device and then added it to the existing scenes. Now I have an interesting issue. Everything works exactly as designed, EXCEPT.... If the fan is running on Medium, with the "fan med" scene active, and I hit the "fan high" button, the fan stops. Every other combination of buttons works as expected. Fan low to fan med, or fan high, changes the fan speed accordingly, for example. The only time it is an issue is if it is already running on medium, and I want to speed it up to high. The green LED goes to red on the fanlinc and the fan motor stops. Pressing high again turns the fan on high. The LED for the High button on the switch illuminates as expected, but the fan motor shuts off. Going from any other condition, to fan high, works as expected. It's only going from medium to high that there is an issue. All scene attributes are identical throughout the scenes, for this fan, and compared to all the other fans that work fine. Buttons are all set to toggle. I even tried deleting the entire scene and rebuilding it from scratch. No change. Screen shot of the scene for high speed. Any wizards out there have a thought on this one?

Update. I can access the control panel using a web browser and it functions correctly. Cannot access it from the desktop icon.

I cannot open the control panel. Get an empty ISY screen and the subject message. This is through my local network. Not trying to remote in. However, accessing via udajax works fine. I have restarted everything including the DHCP router. I have the correct IP, and it is that IP that displays in this error dialogue. Running Win10 Pro. ISY 994i 1024 IR Ver 4.6.2 I looked through the archives and found a few mentions of this error from years ago, but all were related to remote access, with no reported issues on local network. Thanks Brett

Yes, I did. It seems you live in a different dimension than I do. Edge returns the exact same result as Firefox, "Java 2+ required" Thanks! Brett

Hi Stu. I can ping the local IP without port, from a command window. No issues. Not sure what port it's working on, so haven't tried with port. Can't get to https://www.universal-devices.com/99i/ because I only have Firefox and Edge, and neither supports Java anymore. For testing purposes, I'd be ok with installing a browser that supports java, if you can recommend one. Thanks Brett

"Socket Open Failed java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused: no further information" ISY944i We lost internet a few days back. Internet modem died. No big deal. Except, ISY has been down since then and will not come back up. I have unplugged ISY multiple times, including removing all cables. When powering ISY back up, all lights go through self testing, etc, but ultimately, only power light remains lit. I have unplugged the PLM from the wall socket, no change. As yet, I have not tried to restore the ISY purely because my backup is a week old and I had made some changes. Figured I'd ask here before that, in case anyone has some insight. Programs are still running, so I know it's working, I just can't access it using the ISY Control Panel. I do have problems once a month or so when the ISY finder can't find the ISY and I have to "add" the IP again. Currently, while the above problem is in play, the IP is showing correctly in the ISY finder window. Thoughts? Thanks!

That fixed it. Thanks.

Thanks Gary. That makes all the sense in the world. Unfortunately, it doesn't work. I now show the load controller as both a responder and controller for the switch button, and I show the keypadlinc button as a responder and controller for the load controller, but alas, the LED still does not illuminate unless the button is physically pushed.
-
Yeah..... I guess I wrote too much 'cause that was the the point of the question. How? I cannot work out how to define the load controller as a scene controller when it's already a responder. It is in the scene as a responder and if I try to re-add it to the scene, it won't let me. I can find no way to define it as a controller. I know I've done this before, as stated in my original post. Thanks.

Everything I've read, searching this forum, says that a controller is automatically a responder. I have scenes in my ISY that have individual components listed as both a responder and a controller. Can't, for the life of me, work out how I set those up. Seems I've lost some brain cells or something. I just installed a new 2334 Keypadlinc 8 button and one button is controlling a 2477SA2 240V load controller. Push the button and the LED comes on. But, if I turn the load controller on via Agave, the button LED does not come one. In the scene, the load controller is a responder and the keypadlinc button is the controller. How do I make the button act as a responder also? This is not the only application I'm having a similar problem with. I'm not sure what I'm missing. I initially set up my system about a year ago and have just now started to massively upgrade it. Whatever I did a year ago is working fine, but not the new stuff. Thanks. Brett

Thanks Zerop. You are correct. I looked there and "daylight savings" was checked, but I did not notice that my location was set to "custom". I picked the nearest city in my time zone and all is good.
-
My ISY did not roll back the time with the end of daylight savings, so now my programs are off by an hour. For the life of me, I cannot find where to correct the program's internal clock. Help? Thanks.

Sorry, took me a while to get back to this. Your solution worked fine. Thanks!

New to the forum, new to ISY. I was previously using Smarthome's Houselink software, which is pure crap. It does not properly control micro on/off modules, constantly changing their setup, without reporting the change. Anyway, now they work just fine. However, I have one, buried in a box, up high, of course, that is connected to a standard toggle switch. It is functioning perfectly from that switch. Also, the module is reacting to 2 different Switchlinc units correctly. However, I'd like to set it up so the standard toggle switch will initiate a controller signal to turn on not only the connected micro on/off module and it's load, but an entire scene. I've searched through the ISY admin console and can't seem to work out how to change the setting to make the micro on/off module a controller. Thanks for any thoughts.
