  1. Thanks MWareman, I guess I have to get the ISY994i/IR, but not the Pro. I actually bought my system about 3 years ago and just got around to installing it in a new home a few months ago. Will the IR model be line-of-sight or while I be able to use it n a different room?
  2. Thanks, MWareman. How is it that when I bought the KPL no one told me that it wouldn't work with ISY-99i? Anyway, what is the difference between ISY994i/IR PRO(UPGRADE), ISY994i(UPGRADE) and ISY994i/IR (UPGRADE) and which one do you recommend? I just found the comparisons of the different 994 devices..
  3. Thanks Lee, so how do I upgrade the ISY firmware?
  4. No, I don't see separate nodes for each button, so I assume I have an old version of firmware. My ISY About dialog shows v.3.3.10 (2013-01-17-01:38:06). Is there a way to upgrade it?
  5. Ok, I created a scene called "movie" and added the KeypadLinc to the scene and it shows "responder to movie". Now how do I assign the buttons on the kpl to trigger the movie scene? Shouldn't the buttons on the kpl be accesible in ISY? And can I do that from the software. I can probably do it from the device but you guys told me earlier all linking shoud be done from the ISY.
  6. Another noob question I guess. Just installed the KeypadLinc Dimmer switch and need to assign a scene to a button. I have the device listed in the Adminstrative Console in my ISY, but don't see how to set a button for a scene I created within the ISY-99i software.
  7. I did "write updates to device" for everything again and now everything is back in the tree without a red mark. But now when the MS triggers the lamps, it goes into THEN mode, but doesn't always repeat 4 times; sometimes 1 time, sometimes 3 or 4 times. And on the Program Summary tab, the Activity column shows "running then" for several minutes even after the program is finished.
  8. Nothing listed when I did this. Error message "failed reading device link" But when I do Diagnostics, Show ISY Links Table, I get a table with 4 lines.
  9. Thanks Lee. I wrote the Updates to Device for both and both are no longer showing the the red marks. But the Motion Sensor is not responding to motion. If I run the "IF THEN" Program which uses the MS and the DeviceLinc, the IF THEN works, but the MS will not respond on its own.
  10. Ok, but the motion sensor and the SwitchLinc Dimmer both have red exclamation marks in front of them in the tree, and when I query the SwitchLinc dimmer it doesn't change. However, I can control the SwitchLinc from the Admin Console buttons, on, off, brighten, dim, but the "current state" for the SwitchLinc doesn't change, even stating its off when it may be on. But I'm concerned that the motion sensor isn't responding. Should I do a factory reset of the MS, and should I also remove any links to it? I currently have 2 LampLincs in the ISY and they both read as OK, and respond.
  11. Ok, but after it is on the tree, so to speak, shouldn't I be able to query it?
  12. Yes the red light is blinking, when I press the set button, but isn't it supposed to? Wait, now after the umpteenth time it did "discover" the motion sensor, after I pressed the set button, it did add it to the tree, but after that it says "cannot communicate with device"
  13. Hi Lee. I pressed the set button on the motion sensor then pressed link motion sensor but still got the message "following devices could not be added:2d.3e.42 Cannot determine Insteon engine" and then it doesn't appear in the tree.
  14. I have tried to install a new motion sensor model 2842-222, and i keep getting the message "cannot determine Insteon engine" when I try to link it in my ISY-99i. I've tried factory reset and still same message.
  15. Yes the set button did pop back out. But I discovered something about this switch: During the rapid ramp up to ON, I double-tapped the OFF paddle and it stopped cycling and stayed off. Then I pressed the UP button and let it go before it reached 100% on, at about 76%. Then pressing the OFF button then hitting the ON button once, it goes to the preset level and doesn't cycle. And I can turn it on/off from the Administrative Console. However sometimes now when I query the Switchlinc it reports can't communicate with the device, and I have to query it again and it will then report the state of the device. But otherwise it seems to working, sort of..
  16. WOW! I took out both the old incandescent bulbs, replaced both with cfl's, and now it works! Apparently the old bulbs were causing some sort of problem? I don't know but thanks for your suggestion, which caused me to experiment with the bulbs. Well I guess I spoke too soon. After a couple of cycles on and off its back to doing the same thing, coming on and going off, repeating that cycle indefinitely..

  18. I took out the cfl, left just the incandescent, factory reset, still doing the same thing..
  19. 1 Incandescent bulb, 1 cfl
  20. Wall lights controled by the switch.
  21. I just installed a switchlinc dimmer switch, but after doing a factory reset on it the lights connected to it come on and go off repeatedly without me touching anything! And this was before I linked it in the ISY. Furthermore, the LEDs on the switch paddle are off until the lights cycle back on, then the LEDs cycle up and then off. Shouldn't the LEDs be always on, at least at some level? It is possible that I didn't wire it correctly, but I did follow the start guide and hooked the white wire to what I thought was a neutral bundle in the wall box. I did link it to my ISY and I can query it.
