E-mail sent. Thank you. -
Thanks for starting this topic. Since my Wife and I expecting our firs baby in November we decided to change floors in the baby's room. we got rid off carpet and put nice hickory floor, with new subfloor and soundproofing rubber. I started project on Saturday and happily finished this morning.

All, I was in need of some blank KPL buttons, as usual I went to SmartHome website and as it turn out product is unavailable. I called SH customer service and I have been told by the representative that this product has been discontinued. Does anybody has any insight on this? I know Amazon has some left... When I started this endeavor with custom buttons, and during my search for Laser Engraver, I found Chinese lasers that everybody are familiar with and Glowforge - which I think I mentioned that while back, I took a plunge during their Kickstarter campaign and after long wait my laser finally arrived today. As soon as I will have it up and running I will update the post with engraving results. On separate note, as far as the color fill goes I found interesting product called Lacquer-Stick I think some of you preferred to have flat feel to the buttons vs. feeling engraving marks - I ordered some and I will update and let you know how that will work out.

Thank you great write up!

What's about magnetic door strike or lock in connection with io linc? http://www.seco-larm.com/E-941SA-80Q

I agree with Scottmichaelj, UDI would be the best option at this point.

In ELK RP take note of the "System URL/IP Address" and "RP Access Code" - Make sure that "Connect Non-Secure" checkbox is unchecked. In ISY under IP Address field enter "System URL/IP Address" from your RP Software In Port field enter 2101 from your RP Software In Access code enter "RP Access Code" from your RP Software Let me know if that's solved your problem
-
Are you able to connect to your elk system using Elk RP software?

Laser engraving does leave letters in gray-ish \ blak-ish color. I prefer to apply paint for universal nicer finish. you can use exacto knife with pointy blade to lift the corner. Perhaps little needle will work as well.

thank you larryllix I will try it tomorrow.

Something like this? Dryer Elk - [iD 001B][Parent 0010] If Elk Zone 'DRYER SENSOR' is Violated Then $Dryer_Sensor += 1 Set Scene 'Alarm Dryer Status' On Else $Dryer_Sensor Init To 0 Set Scene 'Alarm Dryer Status' Off and this: Dryer Elk Notify - [iD 0011][Parent 0010] If $Dryer_Sensor is not 0 Then Wait 5 minutes Set Elk Speak Phrase 'Miscellaneous 2 ' Send Notification to 'Marcin' content 'LAUNDRY - DRYING CYCLE COMPLETED' Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action')

Hi there, Before in basement I had a IOLinc with current sensor connected to it, and I had a program that notified us whenever Dryer finish drying. Recently I extended my ELK system down to the basement and connected current sensor to zone 19. I would like get rid of IOLinc and modify the program below to work based on Zone 19. Any suggestions? Dryer - [iD 002B][Parent 0010] If Control DRYER_IO_SENSOR is switched Off And Control DRYER_IO_SENSOR is not switched On Then Set Elk Speak Phrase 'Miscellaneous 2 ' Send Notification to 'Marcin' content 'LAUNDRY - DRYING CYCLE COMPLETED' Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') I was thinking about creating two separate programs first one set variable to 1 if zone 19 is violated (Meaning the dryer is on) Dryer Elk - [iD 001B][Parent 0010] If Elk Zone 'DRYER SENSOR' is Violated Then $Dryer_Sensor += 1 Else $Dryer_Sensor Init To 0 Second program (once dryer finished drying to notify us) Dryer Elk Notify - [iD 0011][Parent 0010] If $Dryer_Sensor is not 1 And $Dryer_Sensor is 0 Then Set Elk Speak Phrase 'Miscellaneous 2 ' Send Notification to 'Marcin' content 'LAUNDRY - DRYING CYCLE COMPLETED' Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') Unfortunately this did not produced required results. Any feedback would be appreciated.

stmrocket I just sent you PM.

And thank you so much stmrocket for the template, I'm so happy that I don't have to do first cuts on cut board LOL.

Let me know when you will have revised version. Now I need to find myself a 3D printer or does anybody knows a service that can print those for me?
-
If you don't mind me asking what kind of 3D Printer do you have?
-
Amazing! Once you will have it printed can you please post pictures?

I just received my new Laser Engraver (http://www.ebay.com/itm/361612651887?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT) I will let you know how this one performs.

What I found was that once you will set a template correctly you won't have alignment issues. I would love to get a GLOWFORGE but it's really hard to justify spending $2,395.00 for Keypad Buttons. I attended the demo few months ago and I was truly impressed, you can actually micro adjust the laser output. There is whole bunch of laser engravers with bigger trays etc, but like I said before I cannot justify spending more than $200.00 for machine because I don't have any other use for it.

I'm really happy with my buttons, paint filler did not wear off after constant use. Now looking back I wish I would get engraver with bigger tray, I would love to make few buttons at one time. But so far so good.
