ISY 99i + PLM 2412S + Insteon Thermostat 2441V (Venstar)
maui4marko replied to hjbleier's topic in ISY994
Okay, thanks for the responses. Next trip here I will bring a couple Access Points. Will the LampLinc Dual-Band Lamp Dimmer Module work, or does it have to be the Access Point itself? Mark -
ISY 99i + PLM 2412S + Insteon Thermostat 2441V (Venstar)
maui4marko replied to hjbleier's topic in ISY994
Hello, I just installed a Venstar T1700 1-Day thermostat and 2441V RF Adapter. Also, I have SignalLinc RF, not Access Point. I can't get it to link to ISY 99i (1020) with v2.7.0 firmware. When using Link Management | Start Linking, the Level 3 log says: [LNK-BGN ] 02 64 01 00 06 ---- Initializing the linked devices ---- ---- All Linked Devices are now initialized ---- [LNK-END ] 02 65 06 : : Unexpected, ignored (65) I tried the factory reset and it flashed the thermostat display, the light went out for a few seconds, and then came back on. When attempting to link, it *doesn't* flash the display (although the instructions says it will). Do you think I have a defective RF adapter? Are there any troubleshooting tips I can follow? Do I need a newer firmware version? Do SignalLincs work or does it require Access Point? Thanks Mark -
With v2.6.6 I have a timer set to "Sunset - 1 hour" (Honolulu time). When "sunset - 1" hour arrives, the condition becomes true but the timer doesn't actually activate until "sunset" with next scheduled run showing as "sunset". Am I doing something wrong or is this a bug? Mahalo, Marko

Hello again Michel, thanks for your reply. Actually, I did try to upgrade previously on more than one occasion, but due to (presumably) network delays I have never been able to complete a remote upgrade successfully. I quickly learned doing things remotely is very difficult with ISY because for one reason or another, errors occur that halt the process. Therefore, it seems remote upgrades are not an option for me. I am physically unable to travel to the site more than once or twice a year, and thus am stuck without being able to upgrade until I am on site. Believe me, having upgraded to 2.6 on my other (local) installation I would much prefer having it in this install as well. The ISY is set to use static addresses already, so that is not the issue. Because of the environment the ISY is installed in, it is not easily accessible by my neighbor. On site help from him is strictly limited to power on/off via the breaker panel. Therefore, my only option is do whatever I can remotely. As a follow-up, I was able to get my neighbor to power cycle the ISY for me today. Following that, I was able to log in via HyperTerminal (but could not via the web interface). The menu showed up but the command prompt was 0.0.0.0:16590 rather than the usual address. Not sure what that means, but guessing its not good. Anyway, I tried one command "VE" to display the version and ISY then went away and never came back. At this point I'm guessing it will just have to wait until I can visit the site in person to bring it back to life and perform upgrades/reprogramming/etc in person. Thank you, Mark

Just want to let you know I'm still receiving incorrect text in the notification (v2.6). The device transitioned from off to on, but the message is stating the opposite: On Alert! Recently at my remote installation a severe storm came through and the power was up and down (mostly down) for a period of 2 days. I could tell from my security cam logs that there were multiple on/off periods. Following this, ISY was dead in the water. Couldn't communicate with it via HTML or HyperTerminal. Normally, after a power outage ISY will properly reboot itself and everything runs fine. This time though, it seems like the rapid on & off (probably accompanied by spikes/brown-outs/etc) did a number on it (I'm surge protected on two different levels). I was finally able to get my neighbor over to power cycle it in a more orderly fashion. I was able to login using both methods, but response time was very slow and the entire system was quite sluggish. Probably due to network delays (3K miles away!) but no way to tell what has happened to ISY. The lights did come up with the initial schedule running (v2.4) but subsequent dim & off schedules did not run. Via the HTML interface it looked like the schedules may have been corrupted/deleted. I should have known better but attempted to reload my last backup version to see if that would help. Unfortunately, I could not get a clean reload due to continually erroring out. As a last-ditch effort, I logged in via HT and told it to reboot. Following that, ISY stopped talking to me and I can no longer access via either method. I'm trying to arrange to have my neighbor return for some troubleshooting, but unfortunately he is limited to only powering on & off. He does not have ability to do any local work on the system. So now to get to my point (sorry for the long-winded story) I'm wondering if there are any methods or techniques I could use to help me out of this situation in the future. I am already planning to install a UPS/battery backup, as well as a remote power control device that will allow power on/off cycling via the web. Thanks in advance for any thoughts on this topic. PS ISY has been remarkably resilient through many of these power outages, outlasting several other pieces of network and control equipment...but I'm always on the hunt for ways to improve it!

Would this be a valid workaround? If From Sunset For 2 minutes Then Set Scene 'Exterior Scene' On

Hello Michel, Oops, sorry forgot to clear the cache... it works now, but here are some comments: - Time is incorrect (off by several minutes) ... I assume this is due to your mail server clock difference - Text is incorrect: it states the On has turned to Off when in reality it was the other way around - Minor item but can the "In the" on line 3 be removed? Personally, I would prefer just listing the device name and the change in status. Or even better: give me a choice of my own text. This is from KPL button G/7 going from off to on: If Control '*Home Alone' is switched On Then Send Notification to All Thanks ... every thing else is checking out OK. Great job!

When are the notification settings going to make it back in? Just installed 2.4.15 and still cannot save email/mobile settings.

Is it possible to change the assigned port number? I have ISYs installed in multiple locations and for ease of administration I would like to be able to change the port number.

Hello Michel, Well it's a moot point now, as my problem seems to have mysteriously fixed itself. Not sure of the cause, but just for the record: Yes, I was trying to add another device into a large scene. Every time I tried, I would get the "Request Failed" message. Here were the troubleshooting steps I followed: - Retried adding the device several times; Request Failed - Power off reset PLM; Request Failed - Reboot ISY; Request Failed - Power off PLM & ISY; Request Failed - Remove Scene, restore PLM, power off reset PLM & ISY, add scene; Scene devices added successfully until final (control) device; Request Failed At this point I gave up and posted to this forum. Today however (several days later) I tried again and was able to successfully add the scene as well as the previously troublesome control device to said scene! Seems kinda bizarre to me - not sure what would take place in the interim that would resolve the problem but whatever it was the problem no longer exists. FYI, per the link calculator I now have 432 links ... and growing

I have a beta PLM with FIRM 56 and am having trouble creating a scene that brings me over 417 links. I thought 56 was supposed to handle appx 1000 links? I keep getting the generic "failed" message. I've used the ISY PLM Link Calculator and confirmed that my new scene takes me above 417 links. Any thoughts or tips on how I can find the root cause of my problem? Up to now, I've had no issues adding new scenes. Marko

Is there a list of error codes documented anywhere? Would be helpful to better understand the log.

I apologize in advance if I missed the thread, but I seem to no longer be able to save email / cell addresses. I had this working in 2.4.12 but now when I add them, they show up on the right pane, and I can appear to save them...but if I exit ISY and come back to the Configuration tab the next time they are gone. I saw the post re: 2.4.13 fixes referencing the removal of notification settings from Configuration tab. Am I missing something or just in my usual late-night instefog? Trying to set up a Home Alone button that notifies me when my son gets home from school. TIA, marko
