  1. Hi Guys, Thanks for all your help to this point, but I have run out of time. When we get back from our trip I'll revisit this issue. Bruce
  2. I've tried restoring a single device and all my devices are in scenes, but no luck. At this point, one day away from leaving on my trip I purchased a couple of timer switches so at least my outside lights will come on at dusk and off in the morning. I have bigger issues now. I took the motorhome out for a longer test run and I have some backfiring issues!! I need to concentrate on that problem now ! Such is life!
  3. The PLM is in the electrical closet with about 6ft of wire to the breaker panel. There are also 3 Insteon 2477 dimmers with about 6ft of wire from the breaker panel to them, so no more than 12ft of wiring from the PLM to these dimmers and they do not communicate with the PLM. Another reason I don't believe its noise causing interference is all the devices are programmed to communicate directly and everything that way works. If it was interference, then the devices could not communicate with each other.
  4. Ok, so I reset the PLM and restored from the second from last backup in case it was corrupt. I didn't get the "could not open file" error this time, but still after Restore of ISY and Restore PLM, I still have no communication with any devices. One thing I get after rebooting and logging into the ISY, while trying to read each device the ISY tries to write to it which shows ERR 1 on the progress bar. This takes about 20 minutes to go through all the devices which also shows the error window "can't communicate with device". None of the instructions mentions this is going to happen.
  5. Thanks for that suggestion. I have one from last September that I just tried. It got to the 13% point and then failed with the error: Could not open file /conf/network.cfg Failed resetting the PLM -200000/-30 hmm
  6. My programs stopped working. I pulled up the ISY admin console and found the ISY could not talk to any devices. The ISY was talking to the PLM however (Checked status). We are going away for a month starting this weekend, so I purchased a new PLM and backed up the ISY. Installed the new PLM following the instructions here: https://wiki.universal-devices.com/index.php?title=ISY-99i/ISY-26_INSTEON:File_Menu#Replace_Modem_(PLM) When I logged back into the Admin Console, the ISY tried reading the Devices and on each one it did an update before (or after) posting an Error that it could not communicate with the device. So when it was done, and all devices showed a communication error, I did a Restore Devices. This only displayed a couple of devices before quitting the routine. The ISY still cannot talk to any devices. Unlike a previous user with a similar problem back in May, I did not change computers... same laptop I have been using with the ISY for years. I can still see all my devices and thankfully they can still talk to each other directly. I'm using firmware 4.8.0 which has been working great for a 5 years, so didn't upgrade. I've had Insteon and ISY for about 20 years and I was in electronics for 40 years, so I'm not a newbie. But Chemo has left me with some brain fog so small technical details elude me. Anyone who can point me in the right direction would be appreciated. Thanks. Bruce
  7. So this morning I tried again, The admin Console loads up but gives an error "I/0 Error Proxy Device". I can turn ON/OFF the couple of switches I tried, but it does not display the current status of any device and all the switches I checked show the initial level as 0% and the Ramp Rate as 9 minutes. So its like it cannot read the current status and settings. Any ideas?
  8. Gary, That does sound a bit strange. I don't have mine setup for remote access... no do I have anything fancy like Smart speakers. Just a few Insteon switches and keypads. I haven't done an update of the ISY firmware for a while. ISY finder reports I'm running firmware 4.6.2
  9. Sorry guys, I was typing the fist sentence of my new topic and suddenly it posted to the forum! Fat fingers I guess.
  10. I know there is likely another posting that cover's this, but after 2 hours of searching and trying things I still can't find my issue. Please bear with me, I've had an ISY99 now upgraded to an ISY994 that has been working fine for a few years... and still is. I haven't done anything with it for the past couple of years while battling cancer. The treatments has left me with "chemo brain" that messes with your memory and desire to even get things done. Anyway, I finally got around to adding a couple more keypad switches. When I try to get into the Admin Console to set them up and program them, I get as far as logging in and it starts loading... then flashes a couple of switches that are now dead... then I think an error and the program crashes. The fact that I get into it and I get past the log in says to me I'm connected and into the ISY. It crashes while loading the devices, or maybe checking their current state. I've checked the Jave version and it is up to date. The only thing I've changed is my virus software, but I get into the ISY so I don't think its that I can get into the ISY Dashboard but it locks up so I was able to get a screen capture of the errors. Any ideas?
  11. Finally did a factory reset on both. One restored fine, but the other reported "Cannot communicate" I tried several times with no luck. I then did a second factory reset, but same error on restore. Looks like I'll need to replace that switch.
  12. Yes, they are both set as Controllers in the Scene. They show up as Red in the Scene, which I understand means its a controller. I have buttons B, C, and D set on each switch as preset Dim levels and those buttons work on each switch. Only the Main button won't trigger the Main button on the opposite keypad. Thanks
  13. Yes, I created them using the ISY admin console. For each Main button I set the ON level at 100% and 2 second ramp for both switches in the scene.
  14. I've searched the forum and cannot find an answer to my issue. Sorry if this has been covered, please link me to that post then. I have two 2334-222 keypads (8 button) which I have linked together in a Scene to form a 3-way switch. One switch powers the light, while the other has no loads on it. I have several buttons on each for dimming levels (B=80% , C=60% etc) and these buttons work fine and as expected from either switch. The Main buttons I would like to have set as 100%. The Main button works on the switch powering the lamp, but not on the other switch. The Main button lights up on the other switch, but nothing happens on the controlled switch powering the lamp. I have several rooms setup the same way and none of the unloaded Main switches will activate the loaded main switch. If I use a single switch dimmer as the second switch the Main button will control it or ice versa. How do I make the Main buttons on a keypad control another main button? or is there some reason this cannot be done? OPPS! edited, they are 8 button keypads. Thanks
  15. oberkc, the ping-pong SWL is part of the scene LeeG, I'll check the firmware version. This was my first room I did using the Insteon switches, so they are more than 5 years old. They could be an eary version, thanks.
  16. Not sure if I am putting this question in the correct forum area... but here goes. I have a rather large rec room with about thirty 50w pot light controlled by 6 SWL dimmers, each dimmer powering about 5 lights. These SWL's are hidden in the utility room out of sight. There is one 8 button KPL as a controller doing the scenes and a second KPL with each button controlling a single SWL. I have the scenes working fine with the Scene KPL being a controller and the second KPL being a responder. Each scene button controls the each SWL to a certain lighting level with the second KPL having its buttons set to ON or OFF depending on whether its light group is ON or OFF. Then I have the second KPL with each button as a controller under under its own scene with its SWL. That way I can turn individual light groups ON & OFF and this works too. But when I press for instance the "watching TV" scene, the ping-pong table lights are OFF, but the second KLP "G" (Ping-pong table lights) button will come ON, even though in the Scene setup, that button is OFF. Looking in the Admin Console, it shows that button as OFF but it is definitely ON! Basically turning any Scene ON will turn on all the buttons on the second KPL whether that buttons lights are ON or not. Can anybody give me some direction here? Thanks!
  17. Lee, Youare correct, i did set the keypad A button as a Controller. I'll try again as a responder! thanks
  18. Ok, I tried adding a button from Keypad "A" to the Keypad "B" scenes, however it just seemed to add another "overall" scene, ie. press that keypad "A" button and its going to want to change levels for all the lights, not just the one group its associated SWL controls. For instance, I moved Keypad A button C which I want to control the Bar lights. When I move it into the Keypad B scenes, I can't just assign keypad A button C to control the bar light SWL and leave all the other lone at their settings, I have to set all the SWL's in the scene. I'm likely not understand something here.
  19. Lee, Thanks for your response. I'm guessing then I should have keypadLinc "A" buttons under the same scene as "B". I'll also check the buttons on keypad B to see if the buttons are set as responders to the main button. thanks again
  20. Hello, I have a rec-room with about 35 halogen pot-lights, divided into 6 areas of 4-6 lights each controlled by a separate switchlinc. The switchlincs are in a wiring closest and not manually used. There are 2 keypad links that control the switchlincs. One KeypadLinc (I'll call "A") is used to individually control the switchLincs and the other (I'll call "B") is used to set "scenes" ie all on 100% or 80% or 3 areas at 30% for watch TV. KeypadLinc "A" with each button controlling a single SwitchLinc is set up as a "scene" for each button/SwitchLinc combination. The other keypad "B" that sets "Scenes" for the rec-room has all the settings under one "scene". My issue is the when I turn on the lights with KeypadLinc "B" using the say 80% button, none of the buttons light up in KeypadLinc "A"... so if I then want to turn OFF one area, I must press the associated KeypadLinc "A" button twice. The first time will turn it "ON" even though it is already "ON" the button light is OFF, so then I press it again to finally turn it OFF. KeypadLinc "A" does not seem to know its switchlincs are ON. Also if I press the "MAIN" button on KeypadLinc "B" which is all on 100%, all the other scene buttons turn ON. I must press any other "Scene" button twice (to all OFF then ON) to make it goto that scene setting. Any ideas as to what I am doing wrong? I think that KeypadLinc "A" should lite its buttons according to what SwitchLincs are ON and KeypadLinc "B" should have only one button ON corresponding to the "Scene" selected. Thanks
  21. I've had Insteon with ISY for a few years, but haven't done much with it for the last couple of years except enjoy it! I have upgraded to the 99 about a year ago and now running 2.8.16 . Question: In my Wreck Room, I have six 2476D wall dimmers controlling 32 pot lights (the 2476D are in a wiring closet and not directly used). I use an 8 button KPL to control each Zone and a second 2476D to control the scenes, the KPL's do not switch a load directly. On my Scene KPL, Main is used to turn ON all zones to 100%, but if I wish to change to another scene, all lights must be turned OFF, then turned back on by the scene button. How can I simply press a Scene button and have it change to that scene without all the lights turning OFF first? When I press Main on the Scene, all the KLP buttons come ON, so I thinking thats why everything must go OFF to turn ON another scene, and then only that button lights. Everything works as expected with the other buttons. thanks Hmmm, since writing this 10 mins ago, I logged into the ISY99 and just looked at stuff, then I clicked on a tiny little unlabled rectangle in the middle of a scene screen. A window open, looked like it was reading devices, now I see all my programs are blank and my scenes do not work right at all. What is this tiny unlabled "button" I pressed?
  22. I feel like such a dope.... its tucked against the bottom edge have to turn it upright to see it down there... sorry.
  23. I had a 2440 remotelinc under 2.6.5 I returned it as it was burning through batteries. Today I received my replacement RL. I am now running 2.6.13 and I cannot add it to the device list. I goto Link A RemoteLinc, it tells me to put it into programming mode -Then it comes up with a window asking me for the Address... there is no address sticker on it... I have never seen one on the old ones and there are no address stickers on the 2 i got today. I saw where Gergoryx looked to have a similar problem and he did a factory reset on it. I did this and still no luck. How do I link my RL's now? thanks
  24. Michel, I found a posting on AVG 8, I am using the free edition here at home so I disabled it. Then I got to 2.6.0 no problems but still had an error going to 2.6.13.. I was using FireFox so I tried again using Windoze Explorer and all went well. My issues are fixed with KPL mutually exclusive settings now. Thanks!
  25. Ok I'm running 2.6.5 so I attempted to "upgrade" to 2.6.13 -backed up ISY -Instructions say "Step 1 - This step is necessary if and only if you are upgrading from any release except 2.6.11 and above" I'm only at 2.6.5 so I must do this, but file to "Upgrade to" is 2.6.0... sounds like a downgrade to me but I do so anyway. That goes Ok, upon reopening the console I have no devices, but I soldier on... I now do the update to 2.6.13.. then I then get an error that says something about file length or buffer length, I can't remember.. -so I re-upgrade to 2.6.5 and that goes Ok. So I try to upgrade from there to 2.6.13 and I get error "Socket Open Failed java.Lang.NullPointerException" followed by error "upgrade Failed: ISY Refused program Update" -So now I try to go back to 2.6.0 again and get the same error as above. So I don't understand something about the upgrade procedure. Am I right that I have to downgrade to 2.6.0 first?
