  1. Michel, I found a posting on AVG 8, I am using the free edition here at home so I disabled it. Then I got to 2.6.0 no problems but still had an error going to 2.6.13.. I was using FireFox so I tried again using Windoze Explorer and all went well. My issues are fixed with KPL mutually exclusive settings now. Thanks!
  2. Ok I'm running 2.6.5 so I attempted to "upgrade" to 2.6.13 -backed up ISY -Instructions say "Step 1 - This step is necessary if and only if you are upgrading from any release except 2.6.11 and above" I'm only at 2.6.5 so I must do this, but file to "Upgrade to" is 2.6.0... sounds like a downgrade to me but I do so anyway. That goes Ok, upon reopening the console I have no devices, but I soldier on... I now do the update to 2.6.13.. then I then get an error that says something about file length or buffer length, I can't remember.. -so I re-upgrade to 2.6.5 and that goes Ok. So I try to upgrade from there to 2.6.13 and I get error "Socket Open Failed java.Lang.NullPointerException" followed by error "upgrade Failed: ISY Refused program Update" -So now I try to go back to 2.6.0 again and get the same error as above. So I don't understand something about the upgrade procedure. Am I right that I have to downgrade to 2.6.0 first?
  3. Hi, Sorry for being a pain in the butt here.. Just changed my wreck-room from X10 to 6 insteon zones (2476 dimmers) There is a KPL that has its buttons set to control individual SWL's and that works fine. I have a second KPL that controls the scenes (7 scenes and the main does All ON/All Off) Everything in the Scene controls works fine except the Mutually Exclusive buttons feature. I have all the scene buttons (B to H) set to be mutally Exclusive. Buttons B to E work fine, but F,G,H cause ALL the buttons to light when pressed. I've reset the buttons several times with no luck. What might I be doing wrong? thanks
  4. I found I had to power-cycle the PLM and the ISY26 to re-establish communications. I was trying to remove the 2440 from the scenes first. Each time I tried that the system would sit there "system busy" for ever (well I would power cycle it after 15-20 minutes) Then I tried removing the whole 2440 device, this did the trick. The 2440 is gone from the system now. Now I just have to wrap my head around Scene's and KPL button function... I'll post questions about that in a new thread! Thanks!
  5. Sorry, its a 2440 wireless remote control. It did not get removed, its still there. I'm using ver 2.6.5. I tried making some other changes to scenes, I did a couple of changes, now it won't talk to any Insteon devices. I was reading some other threads and that sounds like a problem others are having too. Bruce
  6. Well that was fun. After about 30 minutes of the Rx light flashing on the ISY and the PLM light flashing... the house lights starting turning on and off, then everything went off and the ISY stopped talking. Brought up the interface and all is fine again.. Scary eh kids!
  7. Tonight I tried to remove a scene that was controlled by a now faulty 2404 wireless controller. When I tried to remove it I was given a dialogue box to put the 2404 into programming mode. Well I don't have that 2404 anymore, its faulty so I expected the ISY to complain a bit then get over it and remove the scene... WRONG! It hung there repeating its attempt to contact the 2404 over and over. It finally gave up and the program hung in fine Windoze fashion. Now I get the error "Socket open failed java.net.SocketTimoutException error" when I start the ISY user interface. I can't control anything, sometimes it wont start right. I rebooted the computer, still the same. How can I fixed this and how do you remove units that are no longer working? thanks
  8. Ohh man!! I am sorry... its the 50 thing... I knew that but forgot. I'm making of cheat sheet of these tidbits. thanks!
  9. I rewired my 3-way switch so the SWL is operating the load using an unused runner wire between the boxes so I have everything ALMOST operating correctly. The big issue now is I want the lights to come on at 30% when I press the local SWL paddle, BUT its coming on at 80%! I've checked and changed every ON setting I can find in my ISY that touches this switch with no luck, it keeps going to 80%. I've even done a restore on it. PLUS I have a second 2476 that I want to change it to another local default level... it won't change either. Both were installed today and initally set to local level of 80%. All are new switches with V4.0 and i'm running Ver 2.6.5 in my ISY26. I have read the manuals and my eyes are glazing over. I can change the light levels from the KPL and my ISY on both with no problem. I don't think I'm that stunned, I write microcontroller programs for MicroChip PIC controllers for my work!
  10. I have been making a scene for each light level, Adding lights and the single KPL button I want to control it... Is this wrong? OR.. Am I suppose to make ie a rec-room scene with all the lights (2476 Dimmers) and then add all the KPL buttons I want to use to control those lights. Then highlight each KPL button within that scene and set the light levels for each button. EDIT: OK, looks like I can do that as long as its a dimmer outside of the KPL. From what I can see I cannot control the local dimmer within the KPL, BUT the LED under the Main button will turn ON and OFF.
  11. Ok, I am trying to wrap my head around how the scene thing works here. I've replaced a 3-way switch setup with a KeypadLinc and a SwitchLinc. The dimmer in the KeypadLinc is powering the lights and the switchLinc is only being used as a controller at the 60% light level. I have the KPL dimmer (x.x.x.1) set to 80% as a controller to SWL as a responder (sets the LEDs on it to 80%) OK that works. Now I want to set a scene using the KPL B button for 60% x.x.x.1 set to responder x.x.x.B set to Controller SWL set to controller Pressing KPL B moves the SWL LED's to 60% but does nothing to the light level. Pressing SWL does control the KPL's dimmer as expected. In the scene setup, when I highlight x.x.x.B it shows only the SWL. not the KPL's dimmer which is in the scene. Can the KPL's dimmer not be controlled by the scene buttons in the same KPL? When I added the KPL's dimmer to the scene it came up with a Dialog box warning the dimmer was already used as a controller and did I want to add it to the scene as a responder, to which I answered YES. What am I doing wrong here?
  12. Bonus, that worked. I only did the restore device on the SWL itself, not within the scenes and it is working fine now. Thanks!
  13. Hi all I changed out my X10 dimmers for Insteon 2476D dimmers in my rec-room (6 of them in total all V4.0). I have a KeypadLinc to control the scenes for the rooms. I found that one 2476 will not respond to scenes I setup using my ISY26. The other 5 dimmers respond just fine. I can control that dimmer using the ISY from my computer, but not otherwise. I have a second keypadLinc that I use to turn each light group ON/OFF and it can't control it either. All the dimmers are powered from the same source installed in 2 banks of 3 dimmers each. I'm guessing its a faulty dimmer, but why can I control it from the ISY when it won't respond to the keypadlincs?
  14. Thanks for that info. My ISY is only 2.6 so I will do the upgrade to 2.6.5
  15. It correctly identifies itself as a 2486DWH8. When I click on it it will show Options for the KPL such as Mutally Exclusive Buttons, but there are no additional buttons to group. The keypad itself seems to work as far as lighting the buttons when pressed. I'll have to check on the ISY26 firmware version when I get home, but there are currently 3 KPL's working on the system.
  16. I have a 2440 wireless remote that seems to go through batteries faster than I think it should. It will use a set of batteries typically in 2-3 weeks. I'm using alkaline Energizers or Duracells, both brands last about the same time. Its by my bed and typically is just used once a day to shut off the bedroom lights. It will work fine, then one night its just dead, no light or anything. Battery tester may show just one battery is dead or more often all them are dead. I would expect them to last for months, anyone else having this problem? Good thing I buy my batteries wholesale from work!
  17. Hi, I have just added a 2486DWH8 Keypadlinc to my system. The unit's address shows up but there are no scene buttons. I've deleted and added it several times with no luck. Anyone have any ideas? thanks
