  1. Depending on what version you are running, check this topic that I started. http://forum.universal-devices.com/topic/22404-anyone-else-having-problems-receiving-their-weather-data/ My ISY Emails me the weather daily, and all are zeroes on my Emails as well. There is an update available, but I haven't done it yet - (Id rather wait for at least a Beta first)...
  2. Hi. I dunno what buzzlinc is. Guess I need to search for it. I haven't been on here for a while. However, my mailbox is also metal, but NOT wrapped within brick. And it is AT LEAST 200-250 feet from my house, and I had the help of someone from this forum to give me advice. I tried searching, but couldn't find his original post. Since an Insteon sensor wouldn't reach (yes, I tried), I used the following: From this site: http://www.sti-usa.com/ search for: 34108, 34201, and 34188 And find a Smartenit ezio2x4 5010D at smarthome, or elsewhere When the mailbox is opened (FULLY), The STI receiver indoors beeps, and the "add on" relay board is wired to the Smartenit, which communicates with my ISY. Then, write a simple program to text you that the mailbox has been opened. Works about 99.9% of the time. Only time it hasn't worked is if the mailbox door isn't opened far enough to trigger the tilt sensor. (EX: mailman only opens it half way, because I only have 1 bill that day. (VERY RARE)) Not sure about your brick enclosure though. However the sensor is on the inside of the door, so bricks shouldn't matter. The 8 input receiver also gives you options for driveway sensors, etc (which I also use). Not sure if this idea helps, or not. But, If you have any questions, feel free to email me directly - for a faster reply. My same username at gmail dot com I'd post a pic of my contraption, but it's too big for this site to accept. Good luck, Gordon
  3. Mine's doing the same.. Guess they did some kinda update. I actually like it better than "OK", as well...
  4. K. Thanks for making my choice even more confusing... I ordered the standard ON/OFF 6 button KPL unit, with Fanlinc, and the fan button kit. It was ordered over the weekend, and is currently on the way to me in Tampa. Once I discovered that a dimmer existed, I got curious. And am tempted to call and try to get an RA on the ON/OFF unit. - And have them send me the dimmer one. Especially once the old lady watched over my shoulder as I discovered the dimmer unit. NOW she says that I need to add a 2nd one in another room.
  5. It was under still within 2 years. Thanks for reminding me about that.. Already got the new one, and it's working fine. Thanks again guys.
  6. Hi. I've been searching the forums all morning, but can't figure out which unit is recommended. I have a fan in a bedroom, with single switch going to it. I'd like to install Fanlinc and a 6 button keypaylinc. It does have a light kit on it. And it's bulbs are dimable . I'm fairly sure I can wire it the correct way (after reading many posts here) - but need to know: Do ya'll recommend the Dimmer unit 2334-232 Or the standard On/OFF 2487S unit? I most likely won't want to control ANYTHING else with this KPL. Only this fan/light combo. I do want to be able to dim the light, but isn't that done through programming, since I'm not using the line out? I'd prefer to use the larger top and bottom buttons for dimming the light, and the 4 small center ones for the fan. Thanks in advance for any help
  7. I just tried that too.. Everything I try says "Cannot Determine Insteon Engine"
  8. Stusviews, I no longer have the book for it, so If I tried the wrong way to reset it, please give me another idea of doing so.
  9. I'm about willing to ship it, and the original PLM to you, if you want both... I'd prolly trade even for a working open/close sensor... Sticker on the open/close sensor says: 0114 rev 1.9 If that helps anyone.....?
  10. I don't remember which color, at this point. sorry. As for resetting them, is it just hold the set button down, WHILE installing the battery? (IF yes, I've tried that as well - with no luck) Guess I'll have to buy another one. BTW, wish I could change the 'header' of this thread.... The network module install didn't mess up my PLM, Just bad timing..... Kinda makes me wonder what might happen if I buy the portal module. (I'm interested in getting it to get an 'echo') I might blame that for messing something else up...
  11. Thanks again for everyone's help. - Especially the tips to "bandaid" my old one. Sometime on Sat Night / Sun Morning, it decided to die again. (Expected). I replaced it with the new one, restored everything (the battery operated things is a PITA). However, I have only ONE open/close sensor on a window that is NOT cooperating, out of 10+. Everything else appears to work fine. (All switches, outlets, etc (mixed Z-wave & Insteon) I have tried everything with it. (YES the battery is good) I tried 'write updates to device', 'restore device', etc, MULTIPLE TIMES. After multiple beers, I wound up deleting it from ISY, and tried to reinstall it. NO LUCK. Any ideas? Or any link that may help me on this? Or should I just replace it?
  12. LOL...... UPDATE: I just received my replacement today, which is a 2.1 However, after resetting my old one, it's been working great again..... I'm obviously keeping the new one for a backup/spare - But should I try to reset my old one again, once this happens again? Or just replace it ASAP?
  13. OK, thanks again guys.. Factory resetting the PLM did the job, and links table counts to 82 things now, which didn't do anything before. (my setup prolly ain't as elaborate as ya'lls, yes only 82...) KPL now works, MS works, I'll test more programs after I post this - Best part is, I didn't have to "re-teach" every sensor! However, I already ordered another PLM now, since I guess their life expectancy is only 2 years.
  14. Hi guys... Thanks for the replies. First my links count shows 0 My PLM is a 2413S V1.B 1403 If Either mean anything to ya'll. I've kinda narrowed it down to NO door/window sensors respond, even hidden door sensors. MS doesn't respond either. 8 button KPL only has one button working anymore (a porch light, which is linked to an insteon toggle switch) The KPL confuses me the most, 7 of it's 8 buttons are linked to different insteon units, - and only one works..? However everything works fine using Mobilink... Admin console also controls everything fine. Therefore I might have seemed a bit too harsh for blaming the network gimmick for screwing up my programs. Can someone confirm this is a bad PLM? Thanks
  15. Hi all.... First of all, I RARELY have posted here, but have read a lot, (usually daily) to get ideas. I have never found anything about having to change anything if you add the networking pack. I thought I might be getting advanced enough to use something on it, so I bought it. However, about the same time I did, MOST of my programs don't work anymore. Can someone lead me to any post stating that I need to change any of my (OLD) programs, because I bought this? If not, might my PLM be getting tired? I use NO scenes, but DID have many programs that ran upon door/window openings, lights / motion sensor, etc. Some don't work anymore. Yes, I am running 5.02 UI is also 5.02 And by the way, I bought the networking thingy because I thought I would be able to use the "Network Resource Import" things, as well. There is no way to do this on my side. Is this because I updated to 5.2 from an earlier version, and skipped today's (current release)? ---- I THINK I had been using the latest 3.X version, until 5.2 came out.... If anyone can help, feel free..... As far as I can see, many programs that USED to run is broke, and I wasted $49. If you think it's my PLM, I'm willing to buy a new one ASAP, but don't wanna spend that money, unless we're sure... Thanks in advance...
