  1. Select 100% which is what On actually represents. Some folks have been confused that On meant any value other than Off when On actually means 100% On.
  2. That is difficult to answer. I have seen devices lose a link database after a power outage but it is very rare. Something like a very short drop in power where the device power supply does not fully discharge before power is restored. Almost like the device treats it as a factory reset. Could be a factory reset was done accidently if the air gap was pulled and restored past the frame level. May never know if it does not happen again. If the situation reoccurs the device itself may be malfunctioning.
  3. For the ISY to mark the SwitchLinc on at 45% the SwitchLinc is a Responder in a Scene with the Motion Sensor as Controller. The fact that the SwitchLinc does not actually turn On is either the result of a link record problem in the Motion Sensor or the SwitchLinc, or the Motion Sensor is not able to communicate with the SwitchLinc. Right click the SwitchLinc, select Diagnostics | Show Device Links Table. When all the link records are displayed click Compare. The ISY will compare the link records read against what it thinks should exist in the SwitchLinc. Repeat the process with the Motion Sensor being sure to put the Motion Sensor into linking mode with its Set button before running the Show Device Links Table. If the link records are wrong in either device a Restore Device will rebuild the link database in the respective device. If all the link records are correct there is a communications problem between the Motion Sensor and the SwitchLinc
  4. The words used to indicate On/Off, Lock/Unlock, etc cannot be changed in the Admin Console display. I believe the view is the Admin Console provides the function to administer the ISY. Third party applications such as MobiLinc may add graphics, custom names for states, automatic invocation of Scenes when a device is controlled, etc.

The chopping of the Sine wave by Insteon Dimmers is known by technical folks. Not surprising that Sales is unfamiliar with the internal workings. There are even pictures of the Sine wave chopping on the forum. Note that the OutletLinc Relay has load sense but it DOES NOT report state changes. The OutletLinc Relay is a Responder Only device.

The OutletLinc Dimmer is rated for incandescent loads only. Even at 100% On Level Insteon Dimmers chop part of the AC Sine Wave which can damage devices not meant to be dimmed (as is the case with many CFLs). Yes, the OutletLinc Dimmer only works with the magnetic key. It is against code for a Dimmer to control an outlet without some type of safety feature that prevents plugging something like a vacuum cleaner into an Outlet that is partially dimmed. Could damage the appliance, the OutletLinc, or both. Load sensing is used to monitor the plugged device. When the plugged device is On the OutletLinc will turn On. When the plugged device is Off the OutletLinc will turn Off. The OutletLinc will report to the ISY when it turns On/Off with load sense. Not all devices with load sense will report that On/Off information to the ISY. The OutletLinc does report the state change.
  7. The checking for a particular On Level assuming the light is ramping up at a slow rate will not work. The ISY only knows the final % the light was told to turn On to. Insteon does not provide real time On Level information as the InLineLinc ramps On. A Program can Query a device but at the rate the device must ramp for this application to work too many queries would be needed with the potential interference with other Insteon activity. Could try turning all the InLineLincs On with a Scene that has each InLineLinc Responder ramping at a slightly slower speed. This might give the appearance of an incremental delay with the step lighting progressing up or down depending on which motion sensor started the process. Two Scenes would be needed, one to ramp up from bottom to top, the other to ramp from top to bottom. If Status 'Light1' is 40% Then Set 'Light2' on
  8. JimInWA As Brian described 3.2.6 is very old. Update to 3.3.10. Be sure to read the information fully before performing the update. Delete and readd the KPL once on 3.3.10. Would be a good idea to factory reset the KPL before adding it back. Note that if running on an ISY-99i 3.3.10 is the last firmware update that will load on the 99i. The 4.x.x path cannot be used.
  9. JimInWA As a point of reference I defined that Scene using a KeypadLinc Dimmer with v41 firmware using 4.0.3. Pressing button B turns On/Off load control button A.
  10. What is firmware level of Keypadlinc What is firmware level of ISY (Help | About) What is firmware level of UI (Help | About)

    KeypadLinc bad?

I have a 2486S that will not bring the LEDs to full bright. Don't know what the issue is or how to solve it. Tried the User Guide manual technique which did not work. The ISY Replace will work. When I click Replace xxxx With on the 2486S is lists the 2487S as a candidate for Replace.
  12. When I say communications problem that is not limited to RF and/or powerline Insteon Mesh network. The messages from the thermostat are not making it back to the PLM. That could be an RF issue, a powerline issue, or the thermostat not generating some of the messages. If the thermostat is still being used in a remote environment then move it to the PLM. Standard Insteon diagnostics. Process of elimination. I have no way to know whether the thermostat is generating the messages and they are being lost or the thermostat is not generating the messages. Both of those possibilities are communication problems. And of course the thermostat is being misused. The temp ranges an exterior location subjects it to are well outside its rating.
  13. Humidity readings have always been suspect with my 2441ZTH. I just ran another test. When I bump the Set Point I get a message. It is not always instantaneous but within a minute the change in Set Point is sent to the PLM. Changed the Set Point twice. Each time I change the Set Point the 2441ZTH sends a message. I would conclude a communications problem.
  14. I do not have a list of possible Motion Sensor interactions that result in the Error 1, -2 Log entries. With the entries labeled System I take that to be something the Motion Sensor sent to the PLM.
  15. The log entries show result but not why. Need an event viewer at LEVEL 3 trace to see what is actually happening.
  16. It only sends on a change. I changed the Set Point by two degrees which generated these trace entries Fri 04/12/2013 05:59:32 PM : [iNST-SRX ] 02 50 1F.0F.B4 22.80.0B 01 73 18 (18) Fri 04/12/2013 05:59:32 PM : [std-Direct ] 1F.0F.B4-->ISY/PLM Group=0, Max Hops=1, Hops Left=0 Fri 04/12/2013 05:59:33 PM : [iNST-SRX ] 02 50 1F.0F.B4 22.80.0B 01 72 10 (10) Fri 04/12/2013 05:59:33 PM : [std-Direct ] 1F.0F.B4-->ISY/PLM Group=0, Max Hops=1, Hops Left=0 Fri 04/12/2013 05:59:33 PM : [ 1F F B4 1] CLISPH 32 Fri 04/12/2013 05:59:35 PM : [iNST-SRX ] 02 50 1F.0F.B4 22.80.0B 01 72 0F (0F) Fri 04/12/2013 05:59:35 PM : [std-Direct ] 1F.0F.B4-->ISY/PLM Group=0, Max Hops=1, Hops Left=0 Fri 04/12/2013 05:59:35 PM : [ 1F F B4 1] CLISPH 30
  17. Put it into linking mode with Set button. Right click thermostat primary node, select Write Updates to device. That should clear the Red ! unless there is an actual communication problem.
  18. "Is there any way to separate control of the load from the button LED?" No.
  19. You've posted the same question in multiple places. How about deleting all but one so multiple folks are not chasing the same question.
  20. FanLinc cannot reverse direction of Fan
  21. If ISY power does not drop variable would not change because of the house drop unless something external to the ISY changes variables when power comes back. The Variable Init value is used to set the variable should the ISY be power cycled. Make sure the Init for each variable is set when the Variable itself is set.

The two wire dimmer cannot be used with CFLs. Believe the Smarthome doc when it says to use the 2-wire dimmer with "Wired-in incandescent lighting". The 2-wire dimmer obtains power through the incandescent load which cannot be done with CFLs.
  23. Yes to both questions. Like the publications for Smarthome devices the Smartenit (simplehomenet) device information generally discusses how to use the devices without specific automation such as an ISY.
  24. It is normal not to be able to Query a battery operated RF only device as they sleep to save battery life. When I used New INSTEON Device the default Device Type Auto Discover was used. There are only a few cases where that option is not the correct one. The 2441ZTH should eventually send the current information. I took several minutes before it was stable enough after coming out of linking mode to send the data to the ISY. I am currently running on batteries. I do have an external power supply but I put it on battery before Deleting/readding for this test.
  25. Hi Michel Yes, the 2441ZTH is operating in Celsius. I put it into Celsius a few weeks ago when a user was making inquiries about support for Celsius.
