  1. After upgrading to 6.0.5, I could use the admin console, but no eisyui. I was able to recover by installing the eisyui package, enabling, and rebooting. Your mileage may vary..... etc, etc.
  2. Thanks for all your inputs! I have decided to go with Zwave. I want something with a real antenna to maximize range so I ordered a ZWA-2. I understand it may not work on EISY. My plan: I will see if EISY will recognize and use it. If that fails, I will try to get HA in a VM on the EISY to recognize and use it. (I have the VM up already) If that fails, I will get or make a standalone HA box and use it on there. If 2 or 3 are required, I will try connecting Insteon buttons to HA with their integration and/or webhooks. Update: #1 failed. I really didn't expect it to work but I took the shot. #2 looks like it's working. Serial devices were a real PITA in the VM on the EISY, so I ended up changing the firmware on the ZWA-2 to operate its own ZWave server on wifi. I've been able to configure HA to recognize the device. It would be nice if EISY could support an external ZWave server but I know priorities will be elsewhere. I don't have any devices to test with, but it looks promising. I just hope an EISY update doesn't nuke my VM setup!
  3. We are needing to get shades ordered for the new house as the afternoon sun is too much. I guess I'll make my choice independent of EISY capabilities since 1) The UD ZMatter hardware is not available with no projected availability date published and 2) Software support doesn't seem to be a priority. I'll set up a parallel HA system if I need to. Thanks all for your input!
  4. It's seeming that Matter isn't ready for primetime and that zigbee and thread are crippled by range issues, leaving ZWave. I'm trying to avoid ending up with orphaned interfaces in the next 5-10 years but the state of the industry isn't supportive of that strategy. And if the UD Z interface doesn't become available, I might not have the option to use EISY as my sole home controller.
  5. I don't have the zmatter board because the site lists it as out of stock with no indication of when that might change.
  6. Thanks, Guy. The docs for the Aqara Hub M3 state that it is a border router. It also supports Zigbee and bridges between the protocols, not that I have any Zigbee. I plan to use Smartwings shades. I expect they have more than on/off (up/down?) capabilities but will look for their protocol documentation. I suppose I can use HA as a temporary solution if EISY isn't yet ready for the required support, but would prefer not to. I was hoping someone else beat me to the integration. Thanks, Dennis. I'm looking to install new shades with the motors built in.
  7. I use my EISY for Insteon devices and scenes. I'm looking to add automated window shades to my house and need to choose the type of motor (Zigbee, ZWave, Matter over Thread). I'm leaning toward Matter over Thread for the shades. I don't have Zigbee, ZWave or Matter/Thread in the house right now. I'd like to control these from my EISY rather than adding HA to the mix (probably through a bhyve VM). Would an Aqara Hub M3 theoretically work with the EISY Matter Beta support? Since it would plug into my network, the EISY would need to find it that way. Of course I can fix the IP address and specify if needed.

Yes, I saw the edge and cloud options. Maybe we could run a local LLM and address that as our "cloud" to keep it all in-house. Well, it may be moot for me since my eisy is not R2.

What threw me was the option of running a local LLM with a GPU which eisy doesn't have I saw his URL was eisy-dev so thought that would been an eisy development machine. I'm reluctant to github clone onto the box without knowing how to configure it to show on eisy-ui

I was on the webinar also. It looks like very exciting stuff! The nucore.ai code is on github but with very little documentation. I was anxious to install and run something like Michel was running but I couldn't even figure out where to start. Does it actually run on eisy or does it run on another computer that interacts with eisy? I've got an EE degree and have been programming for decades, but I feel like an idiot at the moment.
  11. Thanks. I'm conversant in embedded systems and related security. I'm just not anxious to be restricted in access to the bare metal/OS as the previous generation was.
  12. I'm running in ISY now and considering EISY for migration, but I want to be able to write and run my own custom stuff on the hardware too. Does EISY provide full root access, walled garden VMs, or something else? I understand not to mess with the UD files or bad stuff will happen but I'm wondering if and how my hands will be tied on the device.
  13. The replacement process is quite horrible and needs to be fixed. Sorry to say that as of 5.3.0 it's just as bad.
