I will run out today and pick up a new micro SD card... Fingers crossed, and I let you know. Again thank you so much for helping through this process..... Tim
-
Ok so I removed the SD card and cleaned it with an eraser. Reinstalled it and plugged it back in. The OSY 994i is still blinking the same....
-
So short of the full resetting, first I am running through the Error light and Memory light blinking simultaneously, list, The lights on the Network jack have one steady on and the other one blinking. If not, check cable and connectivity to the router No lights, swapped out cables and tried other working ports on the router. no Change. There are no lights on the back network port of the isy. I swapped out the cables and still nothing. The router that sits next to it is working fine for both wifi and c5 homerun cables to other computers, just not the isy. Also worth noting, the PLM does not have any LEDs let up. I don't know if that is normal or not its been working flawlessly for years without looking at it. Thoughts? Tim

OK, so I have a 12v / 2.0A power supply from another small electronic devise. I swapped it out.... same thing, boots up then red light flashing every second, and of line message. đ

Copy, Ill try that... are they generic or specific power amount?

Good morning, I have been using my ISY for several years with no issues. I am a beginner in the home automation, IE I somehow got it to do what I wanted and stopped tinkering in home automation. I have no coding or true computer skills. I use a PC and android. My switches are all Instron and my subscription is current. Firmware is 5.3.0 With all that said, we had the power go out last Sunday during a thunderstorm. After the storm passed and the power came back on everything in the house seemed fine (Alexa working, computers fine etc..) I noticed that my outdoor lights were coming on at odd times, then noticed that my lighting voice commands to Alexa were not working. I opened the ISY portal and it states "Offline since Sunday...." So I do the normal beginner stuff, unplug , wait and re plug in the units a few times then search the internet. No change Looking for so guidance and assistance getting back to "normal". Thanks Tim

How to add a device........??
TimCA replied to TimCA's topic in New user? Having trouble? Start here
I guess that is the problem I cant even find the "Figure 7 Menu". Here is what I have via my computer and online -
Good afternoon, It has been awhile sense I have added a device and after a web search and pulling my hair out I am back here. I added an outlet. I have an ISY I have a 6 link switch. I can get to my ISY portal. Here is what I want to do. I want to be able to switch the outlet on and off from the "D" of my 6 link. "A" and "b" already switch other scenes. For the life of me I can not find any way to "Add a device" ISY portal ---Tools -- ISY web access- than what???? AND how??? Thanks Tim

Good morning, I have a Insteon 2472DWH that I have lost the key to. I want to just switch a load on and off do I need a "dimmer key' or as the name implies is that only needed is I want to dim the lamp. Thanks Tim

A bit more info, When I go to the link provided above, https://forum.universal-devices.com/forum/15-current-release-betas-and-bug-reports/ I see there ate to I should down load the newest version and the several below the launcher. when I click on the launcher, shipping the clear Java step because I don't have Java on my computer, I get this, https://isy.universal-devices.com/start.jnlp This type of file may harm your computer." Tim

Ok, well let me ask you this, Given at age of my version and the fact that I only run 3 keypads + 5 switches and one outlet. All together I have 4 preset scenes (one on time every day and 2 voice controlled via echo) all insteon for now. I plan to add to the system in the next 4 months so several current presets will change. (more insteon, a weather station, and possibly irrigation. Would it be easer to just start from scratch? Is there a way to just erase the current version and start clean with newest version. Also, I tried to down load the launcher with no luck, first it had me clear the Java cash.... I don't have Java on here. Then it gave me an error message after a warning that the program could damage my computer.... Any thoughts on either , Thanks Tim Model: ISY 994i 1024 IR Platform: ISY-C-994 Version: 4.5.1 Build Timestamp: 2016-06-15-14:06:00

Thanks for the info. So here is what I have. Model: ISY 994i 1024 IR Platform: ISY-C-994 Version: 4.5.1 Build Timestamp: 2016-06-15-14:06:00 I "normally" do not access my ISY except when I get a wild hair to add something of change somethin which apparently is about every 2 years. In witch case I need to relearn how to do it. This is the first time I have run into this updating issue. So it sounds like basically if I want to use the UD mobile app I need to update to 5, and that will not be a walk in the park but is doable. If I want to add a mobile app to control my current ISY I can try the GO2ISY app. Any benefits other than the mobile app to updating the firm where? I will first work on the launcher upgrade as I have always gone to ISY portal then My ISY from there. I am assuming nether of those are the Launcher. lilyoyo- thanks for the response I will keep looking for another option. Outdoor outlet.

Good evening, I am trying to control an outdoor switch (Smart WiFi Indoor/Outdoor Plug MSS620HK / MSS620 US) witch led me to try to down load the UD app on my phone. I then learned that I need to update my firm where, but before I do that my "Admin Panel". Why this is not done automatically is odd to me but, I have no idea where to start I read the thread about updating, and it seemed that i need a degree in IT to get through this, it also states that I need to update my admin panel.... what and where is my admin panel? I only dabble in home automation and the last time I set it all up was about 18 to 24. Hoping I can get a little guidance. Thanks for your help Tim

Interesting, when I got the ISY a few years back the Hub reviews were questionable and the produce was new. The ISY seamed more stable and had the ability at that time to do more as I expanded I.E. home security, thermostat, cameras and so on... Has the ISY become obsolete, are most people buying the Hub instead? Tim

I believe it is where the console now connects to the outside world. I log in there and it is where I add my scenes and devises so they can be discovered by the ECHO. The old add the spoken name under the Note tab in the ISY console did not work for me. The ECHO would not discover it until I add them to the isy portal. my.isy.io. Tim

Hi, I have spent the last few days getting this all together and with your help it works Thank you for that. With that said some of my friends who would like this level of home automation with there lights via the ECHO are not going to spend hours looking around here and other forums trying to figure it out and will give up witch is a problem for the HA industry. I wanted to put together a quick, current (10/2016) down an dirty list of steps I can pass of to even the most non-geeky friends to hopefully get this integration to work. in 11 steps or less. It shouldn't be as hard as it was for me a normal person with no programming background and an interest in keeping up with the times. If you could look at this and give feed back that would help. I.E in step #5 do you have to click "download" or will the refresh work? If it looks correct feel free to pass it out to anyone. Thanks Tim Connecting ISY (with Insteon devices) to your ECHO. Assumptions: You have an ECHO, an ISY running, the ISY desktop console and have Insteon (or other) switches, key links and or outlets in the console. Also you have purchased the module from UDI. 1)Make device, scene and program changes in the ISY console (on desktop) and test them both from the console and the switches. 2)Log into the ISY Portal. 3)At the end of the UUID / Green dot / alias / firmware line click on Tool then connectivity then Amazon Echo. 4)Add devices, scenes and programs (That you want the Echo to know) one at a time, fill in spoken words for Echo here. 5) After everything is there click on the Refresh icon. (Or download???) 6)Open up your Amazon Alexa account and sign in. 7)Click on Skills and searchâ ISYâ and Enable skill. 8)Go back to amazon alexa and now click on Smart home. (instead of Skills) 9)Now click on âdiscover devicesâ and all the devices, scenes and programs should show up here after about 20 seconds. You can also do groups here by clicking on "create groups" under the Your Groups heading. (Like scenes in your ISY console) This is also where you might attach your nest thermostat. 10) Test the Echo. âAlexa turn on âspoken wordâ. , âAlexa dim âspoken word to 50%â (You would need that light on a dimmer switch. 11) Have a beer while you brain storm the new possibilities!!!!!

I'm all good for now. After tinkering and reading I think I got it. Thanks all for the help! More topice to come as I plug along...... Thanks again, Tim

I think I found one answer on another thread... \ Here's the Wiki instructions for configuration. You might review the steps and see if it helps. You no longer use "Notes" for devices but rather in ISY Portal you add spoken phrases to devices/programs and scenes then ask Alexa to discover. Jon...
-
Oh and under "Notes" what is the check box "Is LOAD" used for and when?
-
Yep from the admin console everything works fine, including the things the Echo does not discover. At the switch a single tap controls the load light and a double tap controls the scene. The echo does not seam to recognize my devices / scenes / and "spoken words I have programmed in the ISY. The Echo will "discover " some of my devices and then has me build groups with in the Alexa - Smart home. Tim

There are two switch banks, one on each wall. Wall one has 2 insteon switches first powers a pendant and the second is the switch in question. On the other wall the bank has 4 switches. Two are insteon (one of the others is a regular switch and the other is a Hunter fan switch.) One Insteon powers 9 can lights and the other powers 1 can light (wired this way so I can independently turn off the can light over the tv for glare). With that said I have abandon the switch in question and made the "9" switch the controler for the scene so the double tap localy turns on The 9 cans + the 1 can+ the pendents. BUT this will not transfer to the Echo. I then created a group in Echo called living room and it now works for the (9+1) ten cans but not the pendants. Alexa is not discovering the tv pendant lights.... so, one other thing I am noticing as I struggle through this.... I have 8 switches, 1 Outlet and one 6link key pad so far in the ISY, (they all show up in and are functioning in the ISY console) The echo only "discovers" the nest and 4 switches, One of witch is "living room / living room lights that is not in the ISY any more as a device or a scene, even after hitting discover on the Echo again.... Also when Echo "discovers" where does she get the names from. The bottom name matches What I have in the ISY but the top is not the spoken work in the ISY. I.E. Under discovered devises It will say Top: "Nine" Bottom: " Living room 9", where the "living room 9" matches what it is called in the ISY but the spoken word in the ISY Note is Living room. Oddly enough "Alexa turn on nine" will turn on the nine can lights.
-
Sorry. Yes when I say "alexa turn the living room lights on" the LRD lights on the switch go up but the lights go on. When I say "Alexa ......lights off" the LEDs go down but no change in the lights. When I press that switch the lights (three separate devises) turn on and the LED goes up. It can also be controlled by the computer via the ISY program. Does that make more seance?
-
No it controls a scene.
