  1. Does that mean that X10 devices won't appear in the web interface either? And what does this mean for programming? I guess I won't see the user friendly names I currently have for each of the X10 addresses?
  2. Thanks for everyone's prompt replies. All I can tell you is my original unit says ISY99 on the label on bottom and has a higher serial number compared to the new 2nd hand unit which says ISY99i PRO on the label on the bottom. Only the ISY99i PRO has the SD card
  3. I very much suspect the answer to this is "upgrade to an eISY"... but just in case. I've been a *very* happy ISY99 + X10 + Networking modules since ~2009. Recently I purchased, as a back-up, a 2nd-hand ISY99. That 2nd-hand unit is working fine... but it is missing the X10 and Networking Modules. I know those modules are no longer available from the website. Is there any other way to add those modules to my 2nd-hand ISY99? I note my original ISY doesn't have an external SD card slot, but the 2nd-hand one does. If my original ISY dies, if I open it up, will I find an SD card inside it, and if yes, can I move that to the 2nd hand ISY to move over the modules and the config? P.S. I still run an all X10 network and after adding the XTBR High-Power Plug-in X10 Repeater reliability has been very very good. Right now I can't afford to replace all my X10 devices with INSTEON so I can only use an eISY if it is X10 compatible - I have an X10 capable 2412S PLM which is working fine (and a spare!)
  4. Hi everyone... thanks so much for the prompt and detailed responses. Yes I did "solve" the problem... and I had been using v4.2.18 of the admin java with my v3.1.3 ISY99 for years without problem until the past week (provoking the original post)... but I thought I better try to download the admin java directly from my ISY99 as per warning / instructions from @Geddy (Thank-you) When I did this, and after adding http://10.168.24.245 to the security "exceptions site security" list, I got the following error message... Any clue if / how this is a fixable problem? Also I did originally follow the instructions provided at the link suggested by @Techman(thank-you) (following the instructions, including clearing the cache mentioned here ISY Launcher - Current Release Announcements - Universal Devices Forum (universal-devices.com). But I notice this post says "For 4.6.2 firmware and below, as well as 5.0.12 firmware and below, you will get the original ISY Finder when you launch" but this didn't happen for me despite being on firmware v3.1.3 - I get the new ISY Finder and as I noted in the original post the new ISY Finder doesn't allow me to open the admin app. Any thoughts?
  5. After some more searching I found this post which recommended visiting this address http://isy.universal-devices.com/99i/admin.jnlp - and this did the trick. This downloaded admin.jnlp from that location was able to successfully launch the admin console v4.9.0. Whew! Note: oddly the first time the admin.jlnp file is opened I get a "unable to launch the application" "Error: JAR resources in JNLP file are not signed by the same certificate". The 2nd time the same file is opened it all works fine... the ISY Finder appears and then automagically the login prompt appears and everything appears to work.
  6. Probably the answer to this question is I need to upgrade everything... but in case there is a fix... Mac OS X 10.11.6 El Capitan Model: ISY 99i 256 Platform: ISY-C-99 Version: 3.1.3 Build Timestamp: 2011-06-03-16:55:48 Java: v8 Update 341 Build 10 Since ~2012 I've been successfully using "X10 Console v4.2.18.jlnp" to launch the ISY Finder which automagically launched the admin console and prompt for user name and password. But today Oct 1, 2022, I get a "Unable to Launch Application" when I run "x10 console v4.2.18.jlnp" with the first line of the "details": java.lang.SecurityException: illegal URL redirect at com.sun.deploy.net.HttpUtils.followRedirects(Unknown Source) As far as I know I've not upgraded Java nor anything else on this machine recently. Searching on this form I found this post which suggested I move to the new ISY Launcher following the instructions in this post This runs successfully and displays my ISY correctly... yes name and the IP address is OK, as is the http (I never installed the certificates to make https work) But clicking on the highlighted row doesn't bring up the menu to select "Admin Console (LAN)" Any ideas? I can still access the web interface of the ISY99i and the web services/SOAP are all working OK. All the programs on the ISY99i continue to work as programmed.
  7. TLDR: I am designing a new Insteon system which will have an ISY on Day 1. What design principles should I follow for linking and programming so I have a simple maintainable Insteon setup and ISY configuration/programming? (and who has written the "handbook" on this topic?) As a long time ISY/X10 user I am now (finally ?) starting to plan an upgrade of my system to Insteon. I've read tons and been lurking on Insteon related forums... and I think I get the whole linking idea in principle, although I've yet to read a clear explanation for X10ers 'converting' -- any links appreciated - diagrams with a little text would be ideal! But what I've not been able to find is advice about how to design an Insteon system where from day 1 you have a controller like an ISY. For example I have the impression that when building a new Insteon system with ISY from day 1, except in special cases, you would only link devices to the ISY, and then use programming to trigger commands to other Insteon devices. i.e. if you have an Insteon wall switch and receptacle, and you wanted to control the receptacle from the switch, without a controller, you'd link them together. But with a controller each device would only be linked to the controller and when the switch is pressed an ISY program would be triggered to send a command to the receptacle. Is my understanding correct? Also, I have a funny feeling, from reading between the lines, that there are a number of other Insteon system design with controller "design principles", or negatively, "gotchas". Are these documented anywhere? Perhaps I've just not looked in the right places ?) (As an example, when I went to tag this post there are no tags for "design" or "planning" - I can't believe that mean no one is designing or planing their Insteon system with ISY - but it appears its not a common topic to discuss or search for needing a tag ? I look forward to being "put straight" by all the Insteon experts here!
  8. Hi John, I may have found a vendor whose website says they have stock of the 2400L, but they are a bit sketchy... investigating now. Will keep you posted. But I'm not very confident. Antony
  9. Hi John, Did you ever find a solution - I am also looking for the SmartHome 2400L color change kits. (I have some blue, red and yellow, looking for green) Was starting to think about the 3D printing option... but need someone with a 3D scanner to create the 'drawing' to feed to the printer! :-) Antony
  10. err yes... thanks
  11. I'm using the set of program to keep track of day of week written by apostolakisl http://forum.universal-devices.com/viewtopic.php?p=48564#p48564 You'll notice these programs are scheduled to run at 12.00.00 AM and the seconds just after midnight. I am finding upon power up / reboot these programs run, even if the time is not midnight! Hence if I reboot the day changes to the next day! Its as though the programs are running before the ISY gets its clock set from the NTP server pool.ntp.org; i.e. until the NTP server responds the ISY thinks it is midnight. Several other programs are also running even though they are set not to run at start-up. I am running v3.1.3 Any thoughts as to what's going on or why?
  12. Hi, Purchased and installed 4 modules over some period of time (most recent the X10 module which I bought after doing the upgrade to 2.8.16 today); However, only now getting to use the modules purchased earlier (Climate, Network, Pro). After upgrading to 2.8.16 today and I realized the configuration tabs for all four modules are missing, i.e. climate tab and network tab is missing in the configuration tab (do the X10 and Pro modules have config tabs?) Here's what I bought and I when I installed them WeatherBug Module Installed on 2010-04-22 Network Module Installed on 2010-03-14 Upgrade to PRO Installed on 2009-05-01 A10/X10 Experimental Support Installed on 2011-06-14 Not sure if the config tabs for the modules were there before the upgrade or not.... No sign of (for example) the climate module when I choose "module" in a program. All that appears is "Flex Alert" and "Auto Open-DR". BTW the X10 module is working (I can add X10 modules to the tree) ...although there is no config tab. Although I haven't purchased the Electricity Module I *DO* have the electricity tab in the config tab, and in programs I do see two electricity related options when I choose Action->System "Electricity Demand/Price Alert" and "Maximum Electricity Alert". I also see "Electricity Pricing (Base/Current): $0.00/$0.00 in the status bar at the bottom of the screen. Any ideas how I get the climate, network and pro modules I purchased working so I can see the config tabs for them and can access them in my programs? Thanks
