hagak Posted March 4, 2013 Posted March 4, 2013 So I just upgraded to 994 isy. Upgrade went smoothly. I would like to utilize the secure comms with the Elk module however when I enable it, isy is unable to connect. I just checked the box in isy, and set the port to 2601 (secure port on my Elk as set in the Elk). Non-secure comms work great.
hagak Posted March 4, 2013 Author Posted March 4, 2013 I just found another post dealing with this same issue. It appears that if you have a username/password setup in ELK that this will not work.
apostolakisl Posted March 4, 2013 Posted March 4, 2013 Yeah, that was probably a thread I was involved in. I never really understood what removing the user/pass on the xep did to overall security. The Elk is kind of weird in that there are multiple layers of security, which may or may not make the system more secure. No one ever commented on that. I like having the secure connection when I am using ISY outside the LAN, so no doubt that is an improvement, but then it also means that from outside my LAN someone can access my Elk admin console and only needs to hack the 6 digit user code.
