Programming a KeyPadLinc

Featured Replies

I have a six button KeyPadLinc and I would like to change the LED behavior for the large on/off buttons. Specifically, when the light it is controlling is off, I would like the top button (i.e. the "on" button) to be lit. Conversely, when the light is on, I would lke the bottom button (i.e. the "off" button) to be lit. The reason being that I have this next to my bed and I want to be able to find the on button when the room is dark in the middle of the night.

I do not beleive the KeyPadLinc is programmable directly.

Is there a way to program it through my ISY?

Thanks.

My keypad buttons ARE lit when off, albeit at a reduced level.

Have you tried manually setting the brightness levels, based on the instructions in the manual?

The ISY does have the ability to set backlight levels, both for ON and OFF, I believe. My experience with this is mixed, but I believe that this is due to the varying age of my keypads. Older versions, I have been told, do not support this.

Regardless, I do not believe the keypad can be prograamed such that the backlight levels are the same brightness when off as for on. The level, even when on will be at a reduced level.

I saw this question on the Smarthome forum. The ON/OFF button LEDs being On or Off cannot be reversed from the function they perform. The key here is the KeypadLinc is physically controlling the load per your post. If the load was controlled by some other device an ISY Program could be triggered by the ON and OFF button press and change which button LEDs are On but that directly affects the load the KeypadLinc is controlling. If another device controls the physical load the OFF button could turn On the ON button LEDS without affecting the actual load. The OFF button would turn the load control device Off so the function would remain correct but the ON button LEDs could be turned On without affect the physical load.

Thanks LeeG. I understand your explanation and the work around. Will think it over if it's worth putting an InLineLinc into the mix.
