The other switch in the pair mimics the tapped switch. There are other switches in the multi gang (5) box and there are no other interactions.

If instead of just a tap you hold the touch, the mimic action of the other switch never occurs. The touch and held switch does its thing and the other one doesn't react.

If instead of physically touching the switch I send it an on or off command from an ISY994 it works properly. The addressed switch reacts and the other one des not.

Any thoughts on what might be wrong? Broken switches? They are both brand new. What is the proper way to d o a reset and remove all links in case these were not new switches but instead returns.

Any help appreciated

Thanks

the link tables for each of the switches show no entries. What is the best way to reset the devices? Manually as if the insteon were not there or automatically through ISY and if the latter How. Is restore device same as Factory reset?

Is restore device same as Factory reset?

No. "restore device" the ISY takes the records that the ISY believe should be in each device and recreates them. Factory reset will purge a device of all records, making it "factory" fresh. The only way to perform a factory reset is via the method in the manual for each device.

Unless you have some compelling reason to want to save records or programs, I would delete each device from the ISY and perform a factory reset of each. Once reset, add them back to the ISY.

I would follow oberkc suggestion. The fact that no link records exist is an issue in and of itself. There are always link records created when a device is added to the ISY. Makes me wonder if there are not communication problems since no device links exist. Either they did not get created, were created and erased with a factory reset from the other forum activity, or there are link records now that cannot be read because of communication issues.

After Deleting from the ISY, Factory Reset of device, add it back to the ISY, run another Show Device Links Table for the device. There should be link records present. If not post back that situation so it can be diagnosed and resolved before attempting anything further with the device(s).

I did a factory restore on each device and that cleared up the problem. I did not first remove them from the ISY. I Just installed them a few days ago and never set them into any scenes. All seems to be working nicely now. I amjust waiting for the remainder of my X10 replacement devices to arrive and the I wiil be all ISY-Insteon for all my lighting and secific appliances like water circulator, Shop vac, etc.

I will then do the scene and program thing replacing what I had in Homeseer.

Thanks for the help

You must do a Restore Device after the Factory Reset. As I mentioned before, when a device is added to the ISY link records are created. These must exist for the ISY to be aware of manaul device operation. A Restore Device will put them back.
