Keypadlinc 2487S

I am attempting to use the keypadlinc 2487s to control my 30" whole house fan. It is strictly on or off and does not need speed control. I want to use the main on off buttons to turn the fan on and then shut it off as I please. Then I would like to set each button A,B,C,D to have some time value so that when I press that button such as A it will run for so many minutes and then shut off the fan. I was able to setup a program in the ISY for each button when pressed to run the fan for a time and then shut off. So I hit button A and the keypadlinc relay comes on and the ON button led lights and the fan turns on. When the time is over the ON button turns OFF and the fan shuts off but the led stays lit on the A button until I press it to make it go out. I have all four buttons working the way I want with a test time of 10 seconds and all goes as I want except for the led on the respective button does not turn off in response to the relay turning off. I know someone out there must be doing the same thing but I did not find anything to match this in the forum. How do I accomplish this? This is my first time setting up one of these switches. I do have over forty insteon modules in use and several programs running in the ISY that all work great. Just never used any keypadlincs before this. Also the 2487S was just purchased a few days ago. Thanks

A Secondary KeypadLinc button can be turned On or Off only with a Scene that has the Secondary KeypadLinc button as a Responder. An Insteon Direct command will not affect a Secondary button as Direct commands do not have a placeholder for button number.

How are you trying to turn Off each Secondary KeypadLinc button at present?

yes I have the secondary buttons set as responders to the main button 1. So I have a scene with button A as responder to Button 1 which is the big ON button at the top. Everything works but the led does not go out on the A,B,C or D buttons once they have been pressed. Only way led turns off is to push the button again and it resets to led off

send us some screen prints of how you have the scene controllers and responders set up. I know you can do this because I have my keypad buttons turn on and off with other scenes around the house. Also post your program(s) that time the house fan so we can see those as well.

I often make the buttons controllers of the scenes, unless they are just informational and I just want them to display not control.

You are using a program to turn the 2487S Off after a certain amount of time?

That will not result in the Secondary button(s) turning Off. Insteon does not propagate a command sent to the 2487S to turn Off to then turn the load control button into a Controller and have it turn its Scene Off. Insteon has never worked that way as it could lead to circular references.

When you turn the 2487S OFF after time has elapsed the Secondary button has to be turned Off as well. The simplest way is to have a Scene with the 2487S ON/OFF and the Secondary buttons as Responders. The Program turns the new Scene Off rather than just turning Off the load. This will turn the load Off as well as turn any Secondary buttons Off.

LeeG, Thanks for the help with this. After I sat back and looked at it again I was missing the scene part of it. I now have it working exactly the way I want it to. I have the ON OFF button as controller and the secondary buttons as responders in a scene then set my timers in a program and what I missed was to turn off the scene in the program. My ISY has been working for so long without any problems that it just takes some thinking to get back into the program mode. This forum is great with lot's of helpful people.

Thanks again
