Arm Away Instant?

I think I know the answer to this, but I'll ask anyway

 

I have my Elk set to auto-switch to Stay mode if the alarm is armed and no exit doors are opened. Nice feature. The problem is I can't remotely arm the system to Away mode, I've tried several methods with ISY and directly with an Elk rule (Arm Away Immediately) but they all start the exit timer. And of course at the end of the timer no doors are opened, so it switches to Stay mode. I'm guessing I need to live with this or disable the auto-Stay feature, but if anyone knows anything to the contrary...

 

I do see that ISY can Trigger Zone Open, but I don't see a Trigger Zone Closed, otherwise I could use that to "open" a door for 2 seconds to satisfy the Away logic.

That is not what mine does. I can "arm away" from ISY and not open a door and it arms to away mode. It still runs through the exit timer but at the end is in away mode. I also have it set so that if I type in the code at a keypad, it will automatically arm "stay" unless a door is opened.

 

You'll have to go through your settings in Elk. The problem must be there.

Thanks, I tinkered some more, but your system acts differently than mine. In the ISY Console when I press Arm Away the timer starts, and it switches to Stay mode at the end of the countdown since a door is not opened. I'm pretty sure this is because in Areas/Area 1/Arming Options I have Auto Stay Mode after exit time if no violation checked. I don't see any other settings for this anywhere, and I understand why it's doing this since the box is checked, was just hoping there was a backdoor way to arm to Away mode without a door opening. But I think I need that box checked more than I need remote Away arming, so that if...er...someone in my house accidentally forgot to manually switch to Stay mode bad things could happen...

Looks to me that if you need the ISY to be able to arm the Elk in Away mode, you have to disable auto-stay in the Elk. No way around that by my experiments.

But I'm perplexed by how apostolakisl doesn't have auto stay mode checked, yet when entering the code at the keypad it does switch to stay mode automatically if a door isn't opened. If I could get mine to work that way I'd be in business. Any idea why that works with the box unchecked apostolakisl?

I was wrong on that point, I apologize. It goes to away immediately when I arm from the keypad. The thing is that I never arm the system from the keypad at all. I use KPL buttons to arm to stay and night modes which I have more conveniently located. After all, if I am not leaving, why would I be next to the door? I use keyfobs to arm/disarm when I come/go. Usually the only thing I use the keypad for is to disarm from stay or night mode or the rare time I don't have the keyfob with me upon returning home.
