Unsupported 8 button Insteon keypad?

Featured Replies

Posted

Hi, I just installed a Smarthome INSTEON Keypad Dimmer Switch (Dual-Band), 8-Button, Ivory model 2334-223 but I do not see a selection for this in the drop down box for new device. So it just comes up as an unsupported dimmer but none of the extra buttons. Any thoughts?

ISY-99i 3.3.10 firmware.

Thanks for feedback, John

The Dual Band KPL along with other new Insteon devices are not supported by 3.3.10. These devices were released after 3.3.10 was released. There is an upgrade program to move to the newest 994i. Look at the UDI Web site for information.

LeeG, et al - Is there any way to just add these new KPLs to a system that has a 99i, just for minimal on/off control?

I have my 994 from UDI and some new and replacement SWLs and KPLs from SH still sitting in their boxes as I've been too busy too install them for months now. It looks like I'll actually have a few days without urgent client needs over the holidays, and I intend to get those devices installed and to make the switch to the 994. HOWEVER, I would really like to have the old 99i fully programmed (to the extent it can be) and ready on the shelf as a backup controller in case the 994 ever goes down. And thus my question... Advice and info appreciated.

If I upgrade to the new ISY994 then the new Insteon keypad will be supported? Please confirm, thanks, John

No way I know of short of not using the devices that have come out since 3.3.10 was released.

Got it, and thanks. Off to 994 I go, sans spare. Gotta talk with Michel and see if they want my 99 back to recycle. I won't resell as I got the upgrade deal, but I don't need more stuff hitting the "spare parts drawer" - which is now up to about three cabinets!

Near the bottom of the web page is an upgrade offer.

Thank you. I actually have had one sitting on a shelf for months now, just too busy to get to it and with my 99 working well. I was just trying to figure out a way to create a "backup" unit with my 99. But I appreciate your help!

  • 3 months later...

My system is a 994 Pro with 4.0.5 installed. I just received some new 8 button KPLs (2334-222) and my ISY can't find them, saying it can't find the INSTEON engine. I checked the drop-down box and no 2334s are listed. Do I need to change to a beta firmware in order to use the new 2334s?

The Dual Band 8 Button KeypadLinc is listed at [01.41] 2334-2.

If not in 4.0.5 I suggest going to beta 4.1.2 (not 4.2.0) where it is listed. Beta 4.2.0 has an issue with If Status in Programs.

Note that this will not fix the device not answering a Get Insteon Engine command which sounds like a comm problem.

It might have been a comm problem, I tried it again and it worked.
