Lost functions of butons

Featured Replies

I have lost the functionality of the C, D, F and H buttons on my 2444 remote. Those buttons no longer control their associated devices nor is their status shown in the admin console. The event viewer level 3 doesn't show any activity when the dead buttons are pressed. The other buttons function normally.

How do I get it back to how it was?

This sounds like a problem with the keypad, itself. Have you attempted to remove power for 20 seconds or so, then restore?

Does the ISY show any device status for the failed buttons? What happens when when you restore the device from the ISY?

I have removed and restored power and tried to restore the device through the admin console to no avail. The status for the buttons in question is blank, neither on nor off. When I press a buttton, the LED on the 2444 blinks either red or green once, but no status is shown in the admin console and the programs and scenes associated with those buttons don't activate.

Is this a 2342? A 2444 is a Micro Open/Close Motor Control.

If it is a 2342, did you put the remote in link mode first?

keep in mind, too, that the remotelinc buttons do not actually have a STATUS. Any status shown in the admin panel is, as I understand, nothing more than the last command received.

Perhaps a better method of fault isolating is simply to press the buttons on your remotelinc while watching the event viewer. Do you see the commands when the button is pressed?

If some buttons work, and others don't, I cannot help but suspect a faulty remote.

When you restored your device from the ISY, did you save those changes to the remotelinc? Make sure there are no red marks or warnings besides the device in the admin panel.

By status, I mean what is displayed in the 'Current State' column. It's blank

There is nothing displayed in the event viewer when the dead buttons are pressed.

On another note, how can I paste a screen capture image to a post here?

I would expect it to be blank right after cycling power. If, however, you have successfully restored the device (no writes waiting), you see no commands in the event viewer of some (but not all) keypad buttons, and you see no status (blank), I suspect faulty device. You can try moving closer to an access point or other RF device, but I don't expect this to help.

I have never pasted an image, but to save a snapshot of your desktop, or part of your desktop, I like the "snipping" tool that comes with windows (I think).

Thanks for all the help, oberc. It's looking like my RemoteLink, or at least half of it, is dead.

Success!!

I deleted the RemoteLink 2444 from the ISY and then added it back in as a new device. It brought all the buttons to life again. I did have to re-program the scenes they controlled, but that wasn't a huge chore.

I'm happy again :D Thanks for all the help and suggestions
