PROFLAME GTM SYSTEM - for Fireplace

Featured Replies

Posted

Hi,

I am using PROFLAME GTM SYSTEM to control my fireplace (as per this video -

). However, there are several instances that I have left it on and I would like to control it using ISY, thus if no one is home, the fireplace will shut off. Or if it night time, it be turn off as well.

Attached also is setup document for reference - http://www.regency-fire.com/Files/Manua ... M-pdf.aspx

Do you think this could be control by ISY? If so, what's the best way to do it?

Thanks.

Hi Ferdies-

Without having better documentation on the fireplace itself, it's hard to know all of the possibilities. That said, it looks like an IR remote control. You could use an IRLinkTX (2411T) to learn the remote functions then the ISY would be able to issue commands in place of the IR Remote.

It's not an IR controller - it's an RF so IR won't work. (I have one - not connected to the ISY.) There is a hardwired switch that is an alternate to the remote that has 3 positions (on, off, remote). I suspect that you could wire into that with a low voltage switch to cut power to the unit by essentially putting it into "hardwired off" mode. The ignition system for these units are all low voltage driven either by a wall wart or by 4 AA batteries.

Thanks for the reply.

Yes, it is an RF controller.

I am thinking of another option and maybe I have to validate it with logitech as well.

1. I have a Harmony Ultimate (http://reviews.cnet.com/remote-controls ... 63901.html) and it is currently linked to ISY as well. Thus, if I turn on any media device for entertainment, lights in ISY/IR are triggered by IR presses and respond accordingly.

2. Tried "adding" Proflame as a device in myharmony and it seemed not doable yet.

3. Or if the fireplace can be controlled by ISY, Harmony ultimate can control it via IR presses thru ISY.

I know the setup is quite complicated so looking for some feedback on the best way to achieve it.

END Result: I want to turn off fireplace when TV is turned off on or before midnight.

Again, thanks.

Proceed at your own risk. If you burn you house down, it's your fault.... 8)

That being said, I would use a meter and investigate the wiring between the receiver and the gas control valve. There is a possibility that a dry contact may give you all the control you need.

The green wire and/or the white wire might be of importance.
