ferdies Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 Hi, I am getting this error message. What's the best way to isolate if my PLM is truly defective. Thanks.
Brian H Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 Is the LED on the PLM On? You may want to try a power cycle. Unplug the PLM and power from the ISY. Wait maybe thirty seconds and then power up the PLM. Wait until the PLM finishes initializing. Then power your ISY controller back up and let it initialize. What model PLM do you have. Older 2412S or Dual Band 2413S?

After the power cycle, I can access ISY without any error message but I could control any device and motion sensors are not working 3 My PLM is Dual Band 2413S Is the PLM dead?
Brian H Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 In the Tools Tab Diagnostics Choice PLM Info/Status. Does it show connected and give the firmware version in the PLM? Since the LED is completely Off and communications between modules and the PLM seem to be not working. There is a good chance the PLM may have failed. We have seen messages indicating PLM failures recently.

You mentioned that you have seen messages indication PLM failure recently, are we suspecting the main cause of the failures, if incidence is getting higher? Could it be possibly due to upgrading the firmware of ISY? Or maybe other factors? My PLM was perfectly working fine last night and when I woke up this morning, none of my motion sensors were working so it prompted me to check the system. I guess at this stage I have to replace my PLM.
Brian H Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 If the PLM is less than two years old. Call the Insteon Customer Support Line and give them the symptoms. They will replace it if they determine it has failed. It is most likely a hardware failure and nothing to do with your ISY. I have seen users of the Smarthome HouseLinc program also reporting failures on the Smarthome Forums.
