tosterhouse Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 #1 issue I recently purchased a ISY 994i IR/Pro As I added items things seemed to work properly. I added motion sensor and was testing a program: If Control 'Foyer Mition-Sensor' is switched on Then Set 'Butler pantry' On Set 'Foyer' On Wait 15 seconds Set 'Foyer' Off Set 'Butler Pantry' off This works fine until i adjust the wait time above 30 seconds then it will never turn off. Reduce the time back under 30 seconds and it works fine. I have repeated this many times. #2 in the main panel (and during programs) the ramp rate was working but now is only fast on and off. It does not matter where I set the ramp time to it will not ramp any of the 2477D dual band switches. It will however ramp the 8w LED bulbs? Please advise
LeeG Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 Once the motion sensor times out (30 seconds is default) it will send another motion On which retriggers the Program and starts the Wait time from the beginning. Most folks want the next motion On to reset the Wait, not issuing the Off commands until motion stops.
tosterhouse Posted February 24, 2014 Author Posted February 24, 2014 Thanks Lee, The first tests are positive. I thought we were out of the area during the wait. Any idea why the ramp rates do not function on the dual rate switches?
LeeG Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 Not really. Are Direct commands or Scenes being used to turn On the Dual Band SwitchLincs. The ISY will not send a new ramp rate to a device it thinks is already set to that value. Try changing to something different.
tosterhouse Posted February 24, 2014 Author Posted February 24, 2014 Update. The system worked for less than 1 hour and now if the timer is longer than 30 minutes it will not shut the lights off!! Very frustrating
LeeG Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 Run Tools | Diagnostics | Event Viewer at LEVEL 3. Run the 30+ minute test and post the event trace. Setting the Wait at or past 30 minutes should have no adverse effect.
tosterhouse Posted February 24, 2014 Author Posted February 24, 2014 I went into the event viewer and it is empty? I saved to a text file and it is also blank? I pressed clear just to see if this would start logging. Any ideas? It appears that there is something wrong with the ISY? And i miss typed, If i go above 1 minute there is an issue. It is set to 3 minutes not 30. This light stayed on all night last night. I will look for the log and post another reply Please advise

LeeG Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 What is the Insteon address of the motion sensor that is driving the posted program? There appears to be multiple motion sensors operating in the event trace, 27.B4.49, 27.B4.2B, 27.B4.33. Also by watching Programs | Summary , Last Run Time and Status columns for the posted Program it will show each time the Program is triggered.
tosterhouse Posted February 24, 2014 Author Posted February 24, 2014 The motion sensor for this program is 27.B4.33 - this controls 26.58.19 & 29.E3.73 It is very odd that when I change the wait to less than 30 seconds is works 100% of the time? Very puzzling. I have the time set to 3 minutes. I just watched the program run including the then statement and the main page shows these 2 units still on. I will change back to 30 seconds to verify it shuts off
oberkc Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 I see nothing in the program that would cause this. Often, when people use STATUS as a condition, wait periods can get interrupted. You, however, are using CONTROL. This will trigger only upon receipt of an ON command, and only execute the THEN path. Given this belief, i would try to look for clues to isolate the problem. - is you ISY seeing the ON commands? Check the program logs to see if the program is being triggered by motion, or watch the event viewer when motion is detected. If you have the motion sensor as scene controller with the lgihts as responder, it would be easy to falsely assume that the program is being triggered because the lights are turning on. - program runs, but the lights dont turn off. Try things such as manually running the THEN path of program. Do lights come on then go off? Does changing wait period affect this behavior? Try turning off the lights manually from the ISY.do they consistently respond?
LeeG Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 The event trace shows the Set ... Off statements did not run even though there is 4 minutes between Motion On messages. Right click the Program name and select Copy to Clipboard. Paste the actual Program. Are there other Programs that affect this program, such as issuing a Disable for example. The Motion Sensor sent an Off command which would not affect this Program but it could trigger another Program that is interacting in some way. Is the 99i running 3.3.10?
tosterhouse Posted February 24, 2014 Author Posted February 24, 2014 Actual program If Control 'Foyer Motion-Sensor' is switched On And Program 'Morning walk on' is False Then Set 'Butler Pantry' On Set 'Foyer' On Wait 1 minute and 30 seconds Set 'Foyer' Off Set 'Butler Pantry' Off Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') -------------- - I am not issuing a disable command anywhere - Last night I deleted the scenes that I created and this had no affect - Firmware Insteon_UD994 v.4.0.5 - UI Insteon_UD994 v4.0.11 - If I run the lights manually from the Main page they work just fine 100% of the time - I only have a few programs as this is new to me. Currently have 3 motion sensors. one is watching the garage and turns a light on for 10 seconds (Works fine) second one is turning on a LED for 1 minute with no issues (Works fine) the third is the one I am referring to - If I manually execute the THEN command it works fine - I am not using the motion as a scene controller. - Changing the WAIT time definitely changes the behavior. Anything more than 30 seconds and it fails. Less than 30 seconds and it works all the time
tosterhouse Posted February 24, 2014 Author Posted February 24, 2014 One more note of unusual issues with this ISY The ramp rates rarely function. In the MAIN menu I change the rate and press any light on and they do not ramp. (I have seen them react correctly and ramp) The ramp rates in the 2 LED bulbs (Insteon) appear to ramp all the time? Very strange. I have rebooted the ISY on the box through the little hole but I have not pressed for 30 seconds to wipe to factory reset. Should I?
oberkc Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 Wow. The original program has a pretty blatant omission compared to the "actual" program. The question that is now coming to mind is what causes the program "morning walk" to become true or false? What is the purpose for this condition? My suggestion is to delete that condition and see if your original problem (lights continuing to stay on) goes away. If so, then we can try to address the other concerns you raise.
LeeG Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 Ditto everything oberkc said. The compound If suggests the Status of Program 'Morning walk on' is not allowing the Wait to finish. As soon as Program 'Morning walk on' changes Status the Wait is terminated and the motion sensor Program retriggerd with a False If, running the Else clause. Before introducing the compound If it was impossible to drive the Else clause. Now driving the Else before the Wait completes seems to be the only way to create the current symptom.
tosterhouse Posted February 24, 2014 Author Posted February 24, 2014 Morning walk was a triggered motion event by the motion sensor and stay on until sunrise. I have deleted this program and updated Foyer motion. I was having Foyer motion not act if the morning walk was on so that the lights would stay on until sunrise.
tosterhouse Posted February 24, 2014 Author Posted February 24, 2014 First of all THANK YOU!! Ramps are also now working. Now for the question. Morning walk was scheduled only from 5:30AM to sunrise. This should not affect the foyer program but obviously it did. any recommendations. I want the same 2 lights to be ran by 2 programs Morning walk should be triggered by the same motion sensor after 5:30 AM and once the lights are on (@50%) I want them to stay on until sunrise. Foyer motion should turn on these lights from dusk -30 min until dawn. (I could tell it to run until 5:29AM. I was allowing morning on to be the master and having Foyer looking for motion AND program morning walk FALSE before running. The motion always triggered the THEN statement and turned on the lights but the wait command never triggered unless set to 30 seconds or less. Anyway THANK YOU
oberkc Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 First, I would create a scene with the lights you want to come on all included, all as responders, with the ON levels for each at 50%. Morning walk should be triggered by the same motion sensor after 5:30 AM and once the lights are on (@50%) I want them to stay on until sunrise. First, I would create a scene with the lights you want to come on all included, all as responders, with the ON levels for each at 50%. Then I would create a program: if time is from 530am to sunrise (same day) and control motion sensor is set on then set scene on else set scene off Foyer motion should turn on these lights from dusk -30 min until dawn. (I could tell it to run until 5:29AM. So you want these lights to turn on at dusk-30, stay on, and turn off at dawn? Is "on" the same as above (50%)? If it is on until dawn, why do you need the first program?
tosterhouse Posted February 25, 2014 Author Posted February 25, 2014 Lets say program 1 takes the signal from the motion and turns the lights in the foyer on for 2 minutes every time we walk by With the exception of during the morning I want these lights to stay on at 50% from 5:30 until sunrise. Can't I have the first program look to see if the second program is running so they are not clashing? This is why i added looking at the other program FALSE so that if it was TRUE it would not run the THEN.
oberkc Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 Can't I have the first program look to see if the second program is running so they are not clashing? This is why i added looking at the other program FALSE so that if it was TRUE it would not run the THEN. The problem with your first approach, I suspect, was that the same motion sensor which triggered your 2 minute countdown also made your other program true. Of course, I have not seen the second program, so I can only speculate, based on evidence presented. Lets say program 1 takes the signal from the motion and turns the lights in the foyer on for 2 minutes every time we walk by With the exception of during the morning I want these lights to stay on at 50% from 5:30 until sunrise. While you did not directly answer my question about whether "on" for the first program was the same as for the second, I will assume they are not. I will also assume that, for your location, dawn is always AFTER 5:30am. I will further assume that you will be satisfied if the lights turn off at 530 always, regardless of whether any wait period is in progress. a) Create two scenes, each having the same devices. The first scene having the ON levels for each device that you want to employ for your two-minute period, the second having ON levels for each device (assumed 50%) for the period between 530 and dawn. create a program: if time is sunrise set second scene off else nothing c) Create a program folder with the conditions: if time is from sunrise to 530am (next day) then allow programs in this folder to run d) create a second program folder with the conditions: if time is from 530 to sunrise (same day) then allow programs in this folder to run e) in the first folder, add this program if control motion sensor is switched on then set first scene on wait 2 minutes set first scene off else nothing f) in the second folder add a program if control motion sensor is switched on then stop program in first folder set second scene on This may not be the most elegant, but it should get the job done. Syntax is, obviously, very approximate.
