Mikes Posted June 15, 2014 Posted June 15, 2014 I have a ISY 994i/IR(1130) in a small house and am using only a handful of Insteon (wired) outlets, with 2 wireless devices that show up in the Main Tab in Red prefixed with an exclamation point, I get communication errors with the RF devices that show up every time I start the GUI. I started with a 2444A2 Remote Linc 2 Keypad, I get communication errors from ISY but am able to reliably use the keypad to control devices. When I click a button the ISY portal sees it, I see a dialog come and go real quick, the ISY shows the correct current state for the button I push and the network tree icon to the left of all 4 buttons goes from an exclamation point to a different icon but the keypad button text items all continue to be red. I didn't worry to much as everything is working and as I've learned this stuff has a lot of 'RAW' edges. I recently purchased a Wireless Thermostat 2441ZTH and also picked up a 2635-222 DualBand switch to help act as a wireless 'repeater'. I added the 2635 to see that the ISY calls it an unsupported device but I am able to use it. I then added the thermostat and it shows up in my network under Main as 3 devices but I can't seem to do anything with it from the ISY panel....not that I really know exactly what to do yet but I get Write errors and the entries are all in Red, I'm assuming I can't do much with it until I can write to it. Seems the 2635 dual band addition didn't help anything. I have shutdown the only RF devices I know I have (my WiFi) that has not changed anything. I am really baffled that my Keypad controls all devices and communicate state to the ISY without issue. This all makes me believe this is not an RF communication problem but something to do with the ISY, like it can't send RF commands, or the software. I am out in the country with closest houses 500+ feet away. I have firmware 4.0.5 and UI 4.0.11 in the ISY. Can anyone provide any direction on what I can do to get my ISY talking to my RF devices? I can make no sense of the various logs provided by the ISY nor can I find any useful info on helping me to digest them, I have pasted what I think may be relevant below: Log 22.0C.3B - Cool Ctl Status -- Sun 2014/06/15 01:28:17 PM Web Log 22.0C.3B - Main Status Query¦ Sun 2014/06/15 01:28:27 PM Web Log Error when writing to Keypad event logging shows Sun 06/15/2014 02:19:45 PM : [1C 4F CB 1 ] Memory : Write dbAddr=0x1003 [04] cmd1=0x20 cmd2=0x04 Sun 06/15/2014 02:19:45 PM : [iNST-TX-I1 ] 02 62 1C 4F CB 0F 20 04 Sun 06/15/2014 02:19:45 PM : [iNST-ACK ] 02 62 1C.4F.CB 0F 20 04 06 (04) Sun 06/15/2014 02:19:54 PM : [iNST-TX-I1 ] 02 62 1C 4F CB 0F 20 04 Sun 06/15/2014 02:19:54 PM : [iNST-ACK ] 02 62 1C.4F.CB 0F 20 04 06 (04) Sun 06/15/2014 02:20:03 PM : [iNST-TX-I1 ] 02 62 1C 4F CB 0F 20 04 Sun 06/15/2014 02:20:03 PM : [iNST-ACK ] 02 62 1C.4F.CB 0F 20 04 06 (04) Sun 06/15/2014 02:20:07 PM : [1C 4F CB 1 ] Memory : Write dbAddr=0x1003 [04] cmd1=0x20 cmd2=0x04 - Failed Error when writing to Wireless Thermostat event logging shows Sun 06/15/2014 02:26:54 PM : [22 C 3B 1 ] Link 0 : 1FF8 [E2EF2A2007FF00EF] Writing [E2EF2A2007FF00EF] Sun 06/15/2014 02:26:54 PM : [iNST-TX-I2CS] 02 62 22 0C 3B 1F 2F 00 00 02 1F FF 08 E2 EF 2A 20 07 FF 00 EF 99 Sun 06/15/2014 02:26:54 PM : [iNST-ACK ] 02 62 22.0C.3B 1F 2F 00 00 02 1F FF 08 E2 EF 2A 20 07 FF 00 EF 99 06 (00) Sun 06/15/2014 02:27:03 PM : [iNST-TX-I2CS] 02 62 22 0C 3B 1F 2F 00 00 02 1F FF 08 E2 EF 2A 20 07 FF 00 EF 99 Sun 06/15/2014 02:27:03 PM : [iNST-ACK ] 02 62 22.0C.3B 1F 2F 00 00 02 1F FF 08 E2 EF 2A 20 07 FF 00 EF 99 06 (00) Sun 06/15/2014 02:27:12 PM : [iNST-TX-I2CS] 02 62 22 0C 3B 1F 2F 00 00 02 1F FF 08 E2 EF 2A 20 07 FF 00 EF 99 Sun 06/15/2014 02:27:12 PM : [iNST-ACK ] 02 62 22.0C.3B 1F 2F 00 00 02 1F FF 08 E2 EF 2A 20 07 FF 00 EF 99 06 (00) Sun 06/15/2014 02:27:16 PM : [22 C 3B 1 ] Link 0 : 1FF8 [E2EF2A2007FF00EF] *Failed Writing [E2EF2A2007FF00EF] Finally the Log only shows this for the whole day Sun 2014/06/15 02:20:08 PM System -170001 [HTTP] Socket not active#2 Sun 2014/06/15 02:20:08 PM System -170001 [HTTP] Closing socket w/failure Sun 2014/06/15 02:27:23 PM System -170001 [HTTP] 192.168.254.36:1603->80 Sun 2014/06/15 02:30:18 PM System -170001 [HTTP] 192.168.254.36:1606->80 Sun 2014/06/15 02:30:26 PM System -170001 [HTTP] 192.168.254.36:1609->80
LeeG Posted June 15, 2014 Posted June 15, 2014 All the battery powered devices must be manually put into linking mode before the device will see activity from the PLM. Put one battery device into linking mode. Right click on device and select Write Updates to Device. That should eliminate the Red ! assuming it is in range of a Dual Band device. When that device is clear of the Red ! go to the next battery device with the Red !. Be sure the last battery device is no longer in linking mode before moving to the next battery device.
Mikes Posted June 16, 2014 Author Posted June 16, 2014 I owe you a beer.....I've wasted hours on this simple friggin issue. Where is MUST have info documented at? I'm curious as to what else I might need to know about these kinds of things.
MWareman Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 Most of the must-have info is in the user guide: http://www.universal-devices.com/docs/p ... 5%20v2.pdf Edit: looks like my link does not work. Lets try this. All documentation is linked to from the main Wiki page: http://wiki.universal-devices.com/index ... =Main_Page
Mikes Posted June 24, 2014 Author Posted June 24, 2014 So all my wireless devices are back to red text, I see no errors in Logs. The 22.0c.3b - Main is a 2441ZTH Wireless Thermostat, it is highlighted in the photo, it is not displayed in Red however the properties that show up for it are wrong, like it can't communicate. I have it in Cool mode and the state shows up once I cross the cool point. The Remote's A thru D entries are all red yet all the remote buttons works fine. Why do these keep going back to Red? It's like an ISY status query can't read from them but it will respond to them if the initiate comm. Below is what I get Log and in event Viewer if I query 22.0C.3B.....I don't know how to read this but it's all I know to look at. 22.0C.3B - Main Status Queryâ–‘ Tue 2014/06/24 07:32:26 PM Web Log Tue 06/24/2014 07:32:49 PM : [iNST-TX-I2CS] 02 62 22 0C 3B 1F 2F 00 00 00 1F FF 01 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 B2 Tue 06/24/2014 07:32:49 PM : [iNST-ACK ] 02 62 22.0C.3B 1F 2F 00 00 00 1F FF 01 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 B2 06 (00) Tue 06/24/2014 07:32:58 PM : [iNST-TX-I2CS] 02 62 22 0C 3B 1F 2F 00 00 00 1F FF 01 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 B2 Tue 06/24/2014 07:32:58 PM : [iNST-ACK ] 02 62 22.0C.3B 1F 2F 00 00 00 1F FF 01 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 B2 06 (00) Tue 06/24/2014 07:33:06 PM : [iNST-TX-I2CS] 02 62 22 0C 3B 1F 2F 00 00 00 1F FF 01 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 B2 Tue 06/24/2014 07:33:07 PM : [iNST-ACK ] 02 62 22.0C.3B 1F 2F 00 00 00 1F FF 01 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 B2 06 (00) Tue 06/24/2014 07:33:11 PM : [All ] Writing 0 bytes to devices
MWareman Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 Changes cannot be written to a wireless device unless you wake it up. They show red when there are changes waiting to be written. Put your device into listening mode and sync it. The red should clear.
LeeG Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 Mikes Red text (device node name) indicates it is a Controller node. Is not related to pending writes.
LeeG Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 A 2441ZTH Wireless Thermostat is like any other battery device. It must be put into linking mode before the options can be read or updated.
MWareman Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 Mikes Red text (device node name) indicates it is a Controller node. Is not related to pending writes. Oops... Sorry - got the red text and red ! confused.
