Elegant solution to the dual band KPL in a tabletop enclosure.  Use longer screws and wrap the gap with trim.

 

What are you using for that trim ring?

It looks like he's just using screws to extend it then tape around the air gap

Tape alone won't withstand a button press. Nuts on the longer screws may hold the KPL in place, but pressing on the side might flex it.

 

But, I don't see what the difficulty is. I have seven dual-band KPLs in tabletop enclosures. The fit is fine.

Dual band KPL dimmers fit (1.2"), dual band relays which are much thicker do not (1.7").

No, its a physical hard material he's using. On the cell phone it does appear like a piece of tape. When you enlarge the photo on your computer you can see its a physical hard ring material.

Is the output connected to something?   Otherwise, why use a relay instead of a dimmer?   The relay will click on and off, the dimmer will be silent.
