Followed Michel’s direction’s to update to 4.2.10.
Mac OS 10.9.4
Default browser Firefox 32.0.1
Java Update 67 (most recent)
Current firmware 4.2.2
ISY 994i IR (backed up)

Downloaded ISY994i Series including Z-Wave Support using the link in Michel’s post--did not unzip the file.
Logged into the Admin Console/Help/Manually Upgrade (step 3); the file would not display.
Moved the file to the Desktop and repeated; the file would not display. Directed Firefox to download the file directly to the desktop and the file still would not display.

Before proceeding further I decided to contact the forum and see if anyone can help with the problem.

Which OS are you using?

Mavericks.

However, that's not the problem. Llast night I woke up thinking about the problem and came to the realization that the update's name "ISY994i Series including Z-Wave Support" almost certainly reveals why I can't load the update. I don't have the Z-Wave module! I apologize for the post! Whoever wrote that these are my golden years lied!!!

Now, I am off to find an update from my current 4.2.2 to something that will reveal the nodes for the Hidden Door Sensors.

Again, I apologize.

That is the correct file. If you don't have Z-Wave it is still what you use. That is what I used to do my ISY994i with out Z-Wave installed.

The other file is for users with no PLM or Zigbee hardware.

Thanks for the feedback, Brian. That brings me back to the matter of why won't the update load? Xathros, I know you are a Mac user. Any thoughts?

Hi smokegrub-

This is an issue with the MAC finder and how it interacts with Java.  Try this:

1) Put the new firmware file on your desktop.

2) Go into the Admin console and select manually upgrade.

3) Proceed through the backup.

4) When prompted to locate the firmware upgrade, first select your MAC from the drop down at the top of the finder window.

5) Then select Macintosh HD from the same dropdown.

6) Now navigate to your desktop and select the upgrade file.

Dunno why the finder need to be started at the very top of the tree before it can see anything but this has worked from me since this problem started with Lion.  Good news is that the next generation Admin console (now in testing) solves this particular issue for me at least.

Hope this helps.

You posted that as I was writing this!  :)

Xathros:

I changed the location of the download to the Desktop. I have tried twice to "see" the file and none displays when I access the Desktop using the Manually Upgrade option. I get a spinning ball. I got the same result when I directed the file to the Downloads Folder. Have you loaded this upgrade?

Yes, I'm on 4.2.10 and have loaded every version along the way.  Ever since Lion, I have had this finder problem.

Did you follow the procedure exactly as I posted above?  You need to set that finder window to start at your system, then drill down into the hard drive, then your desktop or downloads.  It won't "see" anything unless you start navigating from the very top of the tree.

Xathros: You are a Mac genius! I have loaded the firmware and cleared the Java cache. Which of the upgrades to the Admin Console should I download (a-d in Michel's post)? I want to get the ISY icon on mu desktop so that a quick click directs me to the Admin Console.

Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure what post you are referring to.  I don't see any posts by Michel in this thread.  In terms of upgrades to the AC, once launched, it should prompt you to allow automatic installation of any modules that you have recently purchased.

To get your desktop icon back:

Goto http://<your.isys.ip.address>/admin/admin.jnlp with Firefox.  Allow Java web start to open the resulting download.  This will recreate your desktop icon using the current AC firmware installed in the ISY

Thanks, Xathros. I finally got it all done. What a tortured process for a Mac user!

Glad you got it working and glad I could be a assistance.  It will get a bit easier when the new console is released.

There is another workaround: when the finder window opens and you can't seethe contents of a folder, switch the view from the current view to any other view (from list to 3 column) you will see the contents. If you open another folder and don't see the contents again, switch the view again. Repeat until you get to the final folder. I have to do this every so often. But it works
