How do you unlink a lock from a MorningLinc?

Featured Replies

The instructions seem to have omitted this.

The back story: I had 2 locks linked to my first MorningLinc.  I decided I wanted to control each one independently, so I got another MorningLinc.  I want to either remove one lock from the first one, or remove both and add back only one.

I've done the total reset described in the docs, and it removed the Insteon links, but didn't remove the links to the locks.  Help.

For the folks playing at home, there isn't a way to unlink, outside of making a new link. If you press the "C" button on the lock under the battery cover, then press a button on an RF remote, the lock forgets all of the RF links it had before, and now has one: the one you just linked.

I used the RF dongle that came with the lock to do this.  I then tried to lock/unlock with the MorningLinc, and it didn't work, so this did indeed clear the existing links from the lock.  Then I followed the procedure to link the lock to the MorningLinc, and now I have things set up just the way I want with one MorningLinc per lock.

It might be possible to erase all previous links and create one to the MorningLinc in one step, by using the MorningLinc like I used the RF remote.  I didn't try that, and I'm not going to try it now.  If I ever have to redo the linking, and I remember this episode (unlikely), I'll give it a go.
