Bob P. Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 I installed a door open sensor 2843-222, but it only has an "opened" node, which always displays as on. The event viewer shows a "DON 1" is received when I open the switch, then I get a "Previous message ignored." How do I make this respond to both opening and closing events? LeeG Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 Regardless of how the Open/Close Sensor is configured there should be two nodes. There is a jumper inside on the circuit board. Normally they come with the Jumper installed which causes the first node to signal On and Off. With the jumper removed the first node receives an On when the switch is Open, and the second node receives an On when the switch is Closed.
Bob P. Posted October 8, 2014 Author Posted October 8, 2014 Thanks Lee. I had removed the jumper while trying to get it to work. I replaced it, and now it works as desired. A single node that switches on and off. There is only one node in the device tree.
LeeG Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 What ISY firmware is being used? Click on My Lighting (or ISY) to bring up list of all devices on the right side. Click on the Address column to sort by Insteon address. Are there two nodes with the Open/Close Sensor address?
Bob P. Posted October 8, 2014 Author Posted October 8, 2014 Hi Lee, I'm using firmware v4.0.5. In the "My Lighting" list, there is just one node with the same address called "Door Switch 1 - Open Status" There are no "Closed Status" or heartbeat/low battery nodes.
LeeG Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 Although it would not be used there should be two nodes. I suggest moving to 4.2.15, deleting the Open/Close Sensor and adding it back under 4.2.15.
