Can an insteon switch be 'divorced' from the load it controls?

I am using an ISY and Insteon switches.

Is there a way to 'divorce' the physical switch from its load control functionality?  In other words, I would like the physical switch to be a controller for a different device and have no effect on the load it is connected to; conversely, I would like the load control on that same switch to be a responder to an ISY macro and have no impact on the status of the switch.

Thanks in advance.

Nope, can't be done. A solution is to not connect the load wire and use a Micro Module to control the load.

This all depends on the type of switch you have, can you please post what model number you are referring to?

Generally speaking if pushing the button directly controls a load then you can't unless you disconnect the load wire from the switch (and cap it off!) and put something like a an inline-link (2475) or micro (2443) on the load.

Thanks for the quick responses.  I feared that a micro would be my fallback.

I am using keypadlinc's if that changes the answer.

For the KPL A or Main On/Off buttons, no.  For any of the secondary buttons, there is no problem controlling a load other then the devices load independently.
