New board question

Featured Replies

Posted

I just received a Z-wave daughter board. I had downloaded the install instructions earlier in the week. When I opened the shipping box I noticed that the board has a red LED that's not shown in the instructions. Where does it go?

I also received, as part of the order, an external antenna. I didn't see any install instructions on the wiki earlier in the week and thought that either they'd come in the box or just be obvious from the board. It wasn't. Where can I find the instructions?

Thanks

There was knockout on my case to allow the LED to poke through, just needed to punch the knock out.  The external antenna is easy to fit, make sure you attach the mount tightly to the case (you pliers on both the nuts to tightent) and the attach the little lead onto the antenna micro connector on the mobo.  Oh  and don't forget to enable the antenna in the software.

I'm such a moron. I saw the red cap for the antenna and mistook it for a second LED.

Thanks

Haha  I hate when I do that!

The install went well and its up and running.

The only issue I had was that the external antenna lead detached itself from the board. I tried for like an hour to reattach it and I thought I got it, but when I powered up the board the internal antenna was very responsive and the external not. So I guess it with its smallness (the connection point) and me with my brush of Audrey Hepburn syndrome it was a losing battle from the get go.

But I'm happy. I got the board up and running and it works!!
