Bert2013 Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 How to add a Insteon Wireless thermostat to an Insteon thermostat? The Insteon documentation describes how to do this via pushing set buttons. But isn't there an ISY994i way of doing this? My goal is to use the "master" feature of the Insteon thermostats. I understand that setting up this "master" feature is different than creating a scene because "An INSTEON Wireless Thermostat can also be added to a scene as a controller to Groups 1 - 4.When it is added as a controller of an INSTEON Thermostat, the setpoints between INSTEON WirelessThermostat and INSTEON Thermostat will always be matched." stusviews Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 To add the wireless thermostat, click on Start Linking and hold the thermostat's set button for a few seconds. The ISY will acknowledge that it found the thermostat and provide further instructions
Bert2013 Posted December 18, 2014 Author Posted December 18, 2014 I was actually asking how to make the "master" feature work between a regular INSTEON thermostat and a Wireless INSTEON thermostat. I could not find a way to do that via ISY, so I did it via pushing the SET buttons on the thermostat.
stusviews Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 The Insteon thermostat is an unusual responder in that it can have completely unrelated responses to an On command and an Off command. For example, you can have On turn on heat and Off turn on Cool. Or on set the thermostat to Auto and Off turn on the fan. The only way to do that with the ISY is to use a program. For that reason, all of our thermostats are linked manually to RemoteLincs.
