Wayne Posted October 8, 2008 Posted October 8, 2008 I have 2 SLD's and 1 SLR that have recently died and need to be replaced. They are linked to 4 KPL's. As of now the ISY can't communicate with the dead switches. My questions are: If I take out the dead switch from the wall then replace it with the new one and perform a "replace unit" from the ISY GUI how will the ISY remove the links from the KPL's since the dead unit has been removed? Will ISY rebuild the links between the new device and the KPL's? I thought I had read that the best way to do a "replace device" in this situation is to temporarily wire up the new unit into one of the tabletop boxes (I have one) and add it to the ISY. Then perform a "replace device" and then do the physical replacement of the unit. Is that true? Thanks in advance for any help, Wayne
Sub-Routine Posted October 9, 2008 Posted October 9, 2008 You can replace the switches and perform a factory reset on them. Add them to the ISY. Don't bother naming them. Use the right button menu Replace With -> The ISY will change all the old links to refer to the new device. The old device does not have to be present. Wait for all the lights to finish blinking. This can take several minutes. I would do one device at a time. Rand
