Motion sensor set up

Hi,

I had my first all on event, details are in the communications/another all on event. I don't think that section gets enough member traffic so below. are the last posts from Michel and me regarding my set up. I have the motion sensor as the controller of a scene to turn on the laundry room lights. The load controller is a 6 button Kpl. I use on only with a 0.5 timeout. The light turns off after 10 minutes with a program. Functionally this is working fine. I have a similar set up in the pantry with a MS and a switchlinc relay, also working fine. The concern was a motion sensor controlling a Kpl with a scene and also serving as a condition in a program for the same Kpl. Apparently this may be related to the all on event, although I did not see anything in my log at the time of the all on event regarding the MS.

Hi Eric,

Yiu cannot do what you are currently doing. If the motion sensor is a controller in a scene it sends an on when motion is sensed and off after the timeout. Please use either a program or a scene.

With kind regards,

Michel

Michel,

The way I have this set up works fine. I'm using the on only option, so the light does not turn off after the time out. This has to mean that an off is not sent.

What is the evidence that the MS has anything to do with the all on?

I just re-commissioned my hidden door sensor and IR sensor (it was being used with a different controller).  Given that to modify scene membership one has to put the sensor into pairing mode every time why not just use a program.  I get this is only slightly onerous on the IR sensor (get it down, unscrew the back, press the button) but for the hidden door sensor it is annoying to have to remove it.

My program worked just fine to turn lights on etc.  Why not use just programs given how hard it is to modify on the fly?

(PS anyone know what the jumper on the IR sensor is to 'allow full control of options by software' does and wether the ISY994i support this?)

The Hidden Door sensor does not have to be removed to put it in linking mode. The Owner's Manual has instructions.

Using scenes rather than programs results in faster responses.

Stu, I did not know this. Thanks.

If Your Door Is Already Open

Press and release Door Sensor’s contact plunger twice then hold the contact plunger until Door Sensor beeps.

If Your Door Is Closed

Open your door and press and release Door Sensor’s contact plunger twice. After a pause, Door Sensor will beep.

Awesome I really should learn to RTFM more  :-), I did read the IR sensor and assumed the door sensor was same procedure.
