device will not add in same 2-gang box with another 2477D

Just installed a 2477D in the same 2-gang box with another 2477D that works fine. However this one continues to give me the "cannot determine insteon engine" error msg on the ISY994i,and therefore it will not add to the network. I have over 20 insteon devices working fine and communicating with the ISY. Since this one is close to several other insteon devices, I do not understand why the communications problem. It was previously installed in a another location and worked Ok. I have done a factory reset on the 2477D but no change.

This is the first time I have had any real problems, so somewhat new to the forum.  Looked at several postings, but not sure what to do next.  Any ideas? Thanks.

A device being close to another does not mean much since from a wiring perspective it could be many feet away and on a different circuit.  The trace shows multiple problems,

Device 2A A8 53 is sent multiple commands and gets no response.  With A & 8 in the address it could be the wrong address.  Could also be on the opposite 120v without good 120v leg coupling.

Device 1C 5B BF is also sent multiple commands with no response.   Same issues with B & 8 could apply.

Device 2E 81 59 is also sent multiple commands with no response.

Check the 120v leg coupling by tapping PLM set button 4 times to generate a beacon RF test message and see how these devices and others on the Insteon network respond.

Is the PLM plugged directly into the wall or is it on a power strip/surge protector?  PLM's work best when connected directly to the powerline and should not be on any kind of power strip that may contain noise filters.  Ensure that there is no other unfiltered electronic equipment also plugged in at the PLM location.

Ok.  I feel a bit stupid.  It was a wrong address!  The newly added device is on the same circuit as the other 2477D in the 2-gang box.  The other 2 devices with no response are both battery operated remotes that I did not set into link mode.  So things are good here, and it appears I do not need to run the 4-tap test on the PLM.  Is there a similar test I could run my brain??

Thanks much for your help!
