awzulich Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 I'm running a geofence program that activates 300 m from home.Occasionally, I will be sitting in my living room, and the geofence will start toggling in/out every couple minutes. I'm assuming this is due to our crappy cell and wifi reception fooling the phone into thinking it is traveling, but I wanted to make sure I didn't miss a setup step. A special thanks to Wes for his continued support!!
InsteonNut Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 Hi Al, As far as we can tell, that's the likely issue. How iOS determines if you are inside or outside of your region is buried deep within iOS with no explanation to us as app developers. The only thing I can recommend is that you check and make sure Wi-Fi is ON on your iOS device. Wes
Xathros Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 I see the same behavior. I am supplementing my Geofence with iBeacons. If the Geofence says I'm not home and I'm still connected to a beacon at the house, I ignore the geofence exit. In addition, I have found that region exits are often missed if the region is in a weak cell area. To combat this, any time I enter a region that is geographically different than others, I have the ISY automatically set all other areas to 0 to deal with any possibly missed exits of those other areas. -Xathros
oberkc Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 As a comparison, with android, tasker can glean one's location from several sources. One of those sources is based on to which cell tower one is connected. The problem description here makes me suspect that your phone is swapping towers, and the geofence function is triggering based upon this. If you haven't already, make sure your gps is enabled.
