flsenior Posted February 24, 2015 Posted February 24, 2015 I am converting a room with 4 - recessed incandescent ceiling lights (6") to LED. I am changing to the 4" Cree TW Series bulb, which is a 65 watt replacement bulb. It uses 11.5W power. Right now I only have one bulb installed and my communications to the Insteon dimmer switch is not reliable. This is the same dimmer switch that was previously installed for the incandescent lighting. The dimmer will not reliably turn on/off the light when I activate the switch remotely via the dashboard or MobiLinc. It works 100% when I activate the dimmer switch paddle. Is the probable cause of the communication issue the fact that I have too few bulbs operating(onlly 1 at this time)?
Teken Posted February 24, 2015 Posted February 24, 2015 It sound either like you do not have proper coupling or the new bulb is injecting noise. Remove the bulb and report back if the Insteon network is reliable. Please ensure you turn the bulb string on/off multiple times to ensure the test is accurate.
Techman Posted February 24, 2015 Posted February 24, 2015 The Cree bulbs have always worked well for me, be it a single bulb or multiple bulbs running off a single dimmer. What's the model and version of the dimmer you're using, LED's will not work with the 2 wire dimmers.
flsenior Posted February 24, 2015 Author Posted February 24, 2015 The dimmer is a 2476D v.37. Your comments are appreciated.
Teken Posted February 24, 2015 Posted February 24, 2015 If you remove the LED bulb from its current location does the Insteon network operate as expected?
Techman Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 The dimmer is a 2476D v.37. Your comments are appreciated. It does sound like a comm issue or maybe a marginal switch. It's also possible that you have a defective bulb, try switching it with another LED bulb to see if that makes a difference. It shouldn't matter if you have one LED or multiple LEDs running off the switch.
flsenior Posted February 26, 2015 Author Posted February 26, 2015 I changed out the 2476 dimmer for a new 2477. All is now working fine. Thanks to everyone for your help.
