filterlinc and appliancelinc?

Featured Replies

If I place an appliancelinc after (on the filtered side) a filterlinc, will I have problems communicating with the appliancelinc?  Will any insteon devices placed after (on the filtered side) the filterlinc have problems communicating with the isy?

2456S3 ApplianceLinc not the new Dual Band On Off Module?

Yes the FilterLinc will block most, if not all of the power line Insteon commands to the ApplianceLinc. If it is on the filtered outlet.  As it is power line commands only. It will effect how the ApplianceLinc works.

Also any other Insteon Module on the filtered output. Would be effected by the loss of power line signals.

I have no Dual Band On Off modules or any other Dual Band Devices, in use at the present time.  So I am not sure if an RF command may work in that case.

Are you having issues with a load on the ApplianceLinc. Like it will go On when load is Off but not Off when the load is On and making power line noise?

Edited by Brian H

I did a very limited test.
From what I saw. The power line only ApplianceLinc was effected when connected to the filtered outlet of a FilterLinc. One added Hop used.
The Filtered output of a FilterLinc may effect modules on its output but I suspect each unique installation would be different.

What I noticed was that I had some communication failure with the appliancelinc, it still worked so far but I couldn't query it and it wouldn't show when it was on.  The plm is not on the filtered side of the filterlinc so that should be fine, and the isy being powered on the filtered line shouldn't matter either, right?

Right now my appliancelinc is running my PC, but I would like to use a filterlinc for my PC since I imagine that it must put out noise or suck signal strength, right?

My filterlinc doesn't fit into the appliancelinc because of bulk do you have a recommendation or know of a device that has both built into one?

I use a short extension cord between the ApplianceLinc and the FilterLinc.
