jwarner964 Posted September 12, 2015 Posted September 12, 2015 Hi ALL I was thinking about installing under cabinet lights, LED. I will be using a insteon switch non dimming with a insteon outlet. the switch will not be connected to the load. these LEDS are a strip that has a separate driver that will plug into the outlet. can I expect any problems Thanks Jeff
stillen_i30 Posted September 12, 2015 Posted September 12, 2015 I use many LED strips on insteon without issues if you do use a dimmer switch just set the dim interval to the lowest level
larryllix Posted September 12, 2015 Posted September 12, 2015 If you don't want dimming or colour changing consider getting a plug-in motion sensor receptacle plug-in and have them come on as you approach the counter. I purchased one for about $10 at Lowes in the US a few years back. They are not available in Canada and now I can't find them on the US online catalogue either.
stusviews Posted September 12, 2015 Posted September 12, 2015 I use many LED strips on insteon without issues if you do use a dimmer switch just set the dim interval to the lowest level Insteon dimmers, like most other HA dimmers use TRIACs. Even at full on with the shortest interval, TRIACs clip the waveform. If the non-dimmable load, dimmer device or both are not destroyed right off, then their life will be considerably shortened.
