rick.curl Posted September 16, 2015 Posted September 16, 2015 I've always thought of myself as a bright guy- at least until I tried to get Z-wave working on my ISY. I started with a working ISY system with a couple dozen Insteon devices. I added the GENII Z-wave kit and external antenna- no problems. The Z-wave information in the Administrative console says Library: Static controller, Z-wave version: 4.55, Bootloader: 1.03. I tried to add a Schlage RP200 Light Module by going to add/include a Z-wave device and pressing the button on the light module, but the ISY never saw it. I tried both internal and external antennas. The light module is only a foot or so away from the ISY. I finally decided that the RP200 must be either bad or incompatible, so I got a GE/Jasco ZW4001 relay switch module. Still no joy. At this point I started thinking that there could be a problem with the Z-wave module in the ISY, so I got a GE/Jasco 45600 remote control and tried to control both modules directly, leaving the ISY completely out of the picture, but the remote doesn't seem to be able to communicate with either module either. Going through the procedure to add a node to the network when I get to the step where the green LED on the remote is supposed to blink twice to indicate that it has communicated with the node, nothing happens. I've got to be missing something glaringly obvious, but for the life of me I can't find it. Can anyone suggest how I might go about troubleshooting this? Perhaps my house is in a Z-wave wormhole that absorbs all radio waves! -Rick
stusviews Posted September 16, 2015 Posted September 16, 2015 Try double-clicking the button on the light module instead of pressing it.
rick.curl Posted September 16, 2015 Author Posted September 16, 2015 Try double-clicking the button on the light module instead of pressing it. Thanks for the suggestion- I was already doing that. I think I did just find the problem though. If I exclude a device before including it, it seems to work. I must have missed this in the instructions. Now that I've got two nodes communicating with the ISY, I've got lots of work to do. Still curious why the GE remote wouldn't work, but that's not a big problem. -Rick
stusviews Posted September 16, 2015 Posted September 16, 2015 I found the same weirdness. Some Z-Wave devices need to be excluded before they're included.
MWareman Posted September 16, 2015 Posted September 16, 2015 I found the same weirdness. Some Z-Wave devices need to be excluded before they're included. This is more common than it should be....
