rslrotty Posted November 19, 2015 Share Posted November 19, 2015 when itry to link some of my devices it gives me the error cannot determine insteon engine i get this on the insteon motion sensors and remotelinc2 and do not know how to get around it. does any know how to fix. i have an isy994i wit hthe latest revision software. also when i try to connect or link to the remotelinc it says it cannot open the file, i had this unit linked before and it stopped working so i deleted it from the isy system but now it won't link again see error in attachment have tried to restore the backup and done various power off's etc,...... anything else i can try to over ride this Link to comment
LeeG Posted November 19, 2015 Share Posted November 19, 2015 Motion Sensor and RemoteLinc2 are battery devices that sleep. Necessary to put "one" battery device into manual linking mode, add that device to ISY. When addition is complete take device out of linking mode before putting next battery into linking mode. rslrotty Posted November 19, 2015 Author Share Posted November 19, 2015 hi lee many thanks for the info, i have tried using the normla linking mode from the admin console and also putting one at a time in linking mode and then trying to linkfrom the cpnsole and both methods give the same error? LeeG Posted November 19, 2015 Share Posted November 19, 2015 Battery powered devices can be added to ISY one way. Put one device into manual linking mode with Set button. Use New INSTEON Device, entering Insteon address and Name of choice. use default Auto Discover and Remove existing links. If that does not work then likely comm issue (be sure Insteon address is correct). Battery device could be out of range of Dual Band device. Run Tools | Diagnostics | Event Viewer at LEVEL 3. Perform steps above to add device. Post the event trace. What ISY Firmware and UI is being used ( Help | About)? What type PLM and how old? Link to comment
