Issues after replacing PLM

Sadly my PLM (2413s) died after about 2 1/2 years of service. That said, I purchased a new one and received it today. After plugging it in, I rebooted my ISY and promptly did a "Reatore Modem (PLM)". After completion, I noticed some issues. All of my battery powered devices, motion sensors and TriggerLinc's did not seem to update properly and my scenes no longer show specifics such as on level for each of the devices in the scene. I've also noticed that my ISY doesn't seem to be capturing the current state for certain devices. So, I decided to do a "Restore Devices", however my issues still remain.

 

Any ideas as to what may have gone wrong or where I should go from here?

After the Restore Modem (PLM) completes (using correct sequence for powering ISY and PLM down) run File | Restore Devices.

 

Note that battery devices are not updated either because the Pro Icon queues the updates or the updates fail and are queued if not using a Pro.   Each battery device must be put into manual linking mode, the pending updates run, and the battery device taken out of linking mode before moving to next battery device.  Only one battery device at a time can be updated.  Putting multiple battery devices into linking mode at the same time links those devices together rather than doing the updates.

Thanks Lee, unfortunately I didn't follow the procedure correctly before reading this. I initially installed the new PLM while the ISY was still running and then did the modem restore. I suspect this is the root of my problems and have created orphan links between the old and new PLM because the network performance is very slow now with many scenes. That said, what is the best way to erase the new PLM and start fresh? I have an ISY backup file prior to doing this procedure.

 

Also, why is it necessary to also restore devices?

You can restore your last backup, factory reset your new PLM, then follow the replacement directions in the link provided by Lee.

 

You have to manually restore wireless devices like motion sensors one at a time, separately, after the restore. This is because Insteon's design for wireless devices requires you to put them in linking mode, one at a time. Also, you'll have to individually "restore device" for any devices that have a 1010 icon in front of them after the restore completes. Sometimes the restore PLM does not complete all of the devices, this has been normal for me on the ISY.

To reset PowerLinc Modem to its original factory settings, unplug from wall outlet and wait 10 seconds. Press and hold Set button; while continuing to press and hold, plug back in. A long beep will sound; continue holding Set button until beep stops, then release.

Also if it was not made clear if you have a pro version of the 994 Series Controller. You can select the battery icon at the top this will turn every battery device with pending 1011 write icons grey. When you're ready to update those battery operated devices you can select them one at a time for completion.
