marksidell Posted December 19, 2015 Posted December 19, 2015 I recently purchased two KeypadLincs, 6 button, model 2334-232, rev 7.7. My ISY cannot not link to them. It says, "Cannot determine insteon engine." I tried a rev 7.0 device, and it links fine. The ISY is running firmware version 4.3.26. Is there a solution to this problem?

Hi Mark- It might be newer than UDI has seen and they haven't programmed it in their device DB used for AutoDiscover. Instead of AutoDiscover, see if there is a 2334 keypad linc on the drop down list. Paul EDIT: Mwester has a point, first update the UI to match your FW.

Did you clear the Java cache and install the correct Admin Console? Ideally you should be running Beta 4.4.1 along with the same Admin Console.

I assume you're talking about beta ISY firmware. I'm reluctant to run beta software, since I depend on the ISY for reliable home automation. Finally, I'm not sure how to determine which version of the Admin Console I'm running. All I know is what the Help | About dialog tells me.

I'll plow through that portion and get back to y'all. Thanks for the quick responses, everyone! Yes, both the firmware and UI must match otherwise strange behavior will be seen. Also note when you clear the Java Cache you must select all three box's. Lastly, in case this is a noise related issue take a old spare extension cord and wire the switch to it. Bring the switch to the 2413S PLM and plug it into the same outlet and try the linking process again. If it links fine than the issue is either a lack of coupling / bridging of the single split phase electrical supply in the home. Or noise makers / signal suckers in the home that is causing interference. The last known issue is network traffic streaming inbound to the 994 Series Controller. Meaning if you have lots of network resources, programs, etc that are coming at very short intervals this too will impact you from linking the hardware. As the system operates in a (generally speaking) in a FIFO (First In - First Out) sequence. Stopping, pausing, these programs / network resources will assist in this enrollment process.
Techman Posted December 19, 2015 Posted December 19, 2015 marksidell, I'm running 4.3.26 and have installed the version 7.7 KPL's without issues. You need to clear your java cache, and then download the 4.3.26 version of the Admin Console.

Program Files [or Program Flies (x86) if you're running 64-bit] > Java > jre.1.8.0_6x > bin > javacpl.exe > Settings > Delete Files (leave Installed Applications and Applets unchecked) > OK (wait) > OK > OK
