KeyPadLink button in a Scene does not respond to changes in the scene

I have searched and can not find this anywhere.

I have a simple scene with two light switches and a keypadlinc button - the button turns the light switches on/off.  However, when I control the scene (turning it on/off) via the ISY 994 the button led does not change, but the light switches do change.  When I run the scene diagnostic test, the keypadlinc button fails.

What have I missed?

Thanks in advance

My initial inclination is to suspect two possibilities:

- ON level is set to zero

- communication problems

- link records messed up

Failure of the scene test tends to support the second or third possibilities.  If you right-click on the device and "show device links table"  (under diagnostics) then "compare" does it show any mismatches?

Have you confirmed communication between legs of your electrical system via the beacon test (in some of the dual-band device manuals)?  What else is plugged into the circuit that powers the PLM?

I've always set my Keypadlinc buttons to be a "controller" for the remote Switchlinc, then turn around and make the same button a "responder" to the same Switchlinc. This makes sure the linked button on the Keypadlinc responds to the state of the Switchlinc.

I recently bought a new 6 button keypad and ran into this same issue.  I found (as oberkc mentioned above) the on level was set to 0.  cCick on the device in the admin console and select "LED Brightness".  Change the "On Level" to 15.

Strange thing is my other (older) 6 button keypads didn't need this.  My older keypad (v.44) has its on level set at 0 (default from factory) and the buttons light up just fine.  My new one (v.45) needs the on level set to something other than 0 for the buttons to light up.  The new one came from the factory with the on level set to 0.  This seems dumb.  One would think the factory default on level would be 15 and you would have to change it to 0 if you didn't want the buttons to light up.  I would think more people would want the buttons to light up than not.

I have a similar problem, I can not get the RemoteLinc 2 Keypad to update.  I have it set to be a 8-Scene Toggle.  I have A^ in a scene with an Insteaon LED Bulb (2672-222); it works fine as long as they are in sinc, but if I turn the scene on from a program, it only updates the LED and not the RemoteLinc; so I have to press the button twice.  Is there a way to keep them in-sync?

Thanks,

Paul

I am not sure that the remotelinc, being a battery device, listens for insteon signals (other than when in linking mode). Therefore, I do not believe the remotelink will act as reponder and stay in sync. A programmatic solution may be only option.

If the Mini Remote is in 8-button toggle mode, then each press of a button sends out the opposite signal of the previous press. However, the button can get out of sync with the state of the bulb if a different controller is used. So, if you press a button to turn the bulb on, then the next press of the button will send an off signal even if an other controller has already sent an off signal.

The only option I have in the program is "Write Device Updates"; which doesn't appear to do anything.  Even if I try to write to the scene and update the device individual device in the scene, it's not even listed in there.

Is there anyway to get the RemoteLinc back into sync in programming?

I do not believe there is a way to "SYNC" the remotelinc, for the resons stated earlier.

A programmatic solution would not sync it either. Instead, I would take a different approach. First, I would take the remotlinc out of the scene. Second, I would consider putting the remotelinc into non toggle mode (not absolutely necessary, but may help simplify programming).

Once done, a couple of programs such as:

If

control remotelinc is switched on (Or off, depending on toggle mode of remotelinc)

and status keypad button is on

then

turn off scene

else

nothing

If

Control remotelinc is switched on

and status of keypad button is off

then

turn on scene

else

nothing

Unlike KPLs, setting the Mini Remote to a non-toggle mode affects all buttons, not only one.
